I'll put a stop to that!

You know what I dislike? This thread provides an excellent example. The whiny person who feels like they are getting segregated because a LI was taken away from them, and the Self-righteous social justice warriors who gleefully waits for those types of responses and go all out on them.
Apologies, that was just an annoying trend I keep find on these forums and I had a need to vent.
Anyway...I'm pretty sure the LIs will be evenly placed so it is fair to everyone. I doubt there is much to worry about.
No one is gleefully waiting. I suspect it's more likely frustrating to see stuff like this than "oh boy oh boy."
Yes schadenfreude comes out, but if you look at the root cause of it, it's often because they are denied access time and time again (and told to shut up about it) and now that a handful of times the tables are reversed, they're hoping for some perspective and understanding for their situation too.
I prefer to not see the schadenfreude type of posts since they lead to escalation (such as your response), but at the same time I think people fail to understand why the posts are created in the first place.
Also, several of the devs have pointed out that "race gating" doesn't mean that each race/gender/sexuality combination will have their "one option", which is how some people are taking it. More likely, it probably means that one or two of LI's won't be romanceable by one or two of the races. So it shouldn't reduce the options too greatly. Of course, I'm just being optimistic now.
okay, i see. i hope your optimism is well placed. i'd like to be optimistic, too, but i'm beginning to feel a bit bedraggled by all of this.
thnx for the insight, tho, dave. it does help. ![]()
I can see it, sadly. I mean, for all their talk, their track record is not stellar. DA2 is the only game they've ever made that featured anything approaching equality.
I would like to have faith, I really would. But then I'd have to change my name.
Not so long ago, people didn't trust Bioware making a lesbian companion for DAI, especially with the reduced number of female options, thinking Bioware would prioritize on options aimed at straight males.
Look where we are now.
On a final note, if people want to direct their anger towards the manly ugliness of Cassandra, direct it towards me, the straight white guy that thinks Cassandra is very attractive.
Ah, I knew I couldn't be the only one. ![]()

Yeah, I'm kind of sitting right here too. I'm very surprised by some of the decisions that they made this time around. Some pleasantly surprised (Sera as a lesbian companion; IB as a likely bisexual); some I'm unhappy about (race-gating in addition to gender gating ); some I'm neutral about (disproportionate male-female ratio). I'm convinced that I can't really accurately predict much anymore, so I'm happy to stay optimistic and go with the flow. Of course, I reserve the right to be outwardly disappointed again in the future!
No bisexuals? I find that odd, after DA2.
people reckon iron bull after his back story

she man A MAN I TELL YOU! :-)
I have no pity for the "St8 male gamer" after ME3. As much as I love Kaidan (and almost always romance him) there isn't much room for me to RP ANOTHER straight LI in Mass Effect 3 because oooooooops. He's the only option for a non-imported save.

Then import a savegame?
I feel like this thread has been the victim of some trolling. I'm not normally one to jump on the "call everyone a troll" bandwagon, but given some of the posts on the first page of this thread and the direction it ended up going in, I think some people just intentionally wanted to start a fight. I refuse to believe all of those posts came from real people. That aside, it bothers me that some people do actually get upset when a character is revealed to be straight, gay, or bisexual. As if the only thing that mattered about the character was if they could have been their love interest and since the character has their own preferences it is a slight against them. I think the fact that it's mostly straight males doing that speaks to some much larger issues that are best avoided for the sake of civil discussion.
Whatever. I'll be playing a straight male Inquisitor first who will be romancing Cassandra. Second playthrough will be a female lesbian romancing Sera. Not sure who I'll romance or be for the third playthrough, probably gay male but having options is always good!
I'm a straight white female and I would kill to look just like herOn a final note, if people want to direct their anger towards the manly ugliness of Cassandra, direct it towards me, the straight white guy that thinks Cassandra is very attractive.
Call Mick Dundee to make sure!she man A MAN I TELL YOU! :-)
I don't concede that there is a necessary vibe.Doesn't give me the vibe.
Dorian does, though.
I don't concede that there is a necessary vibe.
That said, the need for these discussions only serves to remind me what a great design decision the herosexual companions were, and lament that BioWare appears to have thrown that away.
RIP DA2 system. 2011-2014.
Recall that some of us were disappointed that we couldn't romance Wynne. The only logical conclusion one can draw from the attraction I feel towards her must be that I'm (as well as Allan) far more gay than I thought.
I'll take the lesbian version. I'd be all over something like this. Not that I see it happening anytime soon, but a girl can dream.
Well, I've been to a gay convention, but it wasn't about video games.
And it was in a basement.
I kinda hope Verric will be romancable but only by female Dwarves (maybe male too).

How dare you??!!! You have the insolence of finding a woman attractive, even though it is plain to see that she is blight upon the eye!
You must be the one who encouraged the artists in their failed endavour! Tis your fault! This is what the world comes to when it is entrusted to heterosexual, caucasian males and their perverted, unnatural taste! Begone with you, fiend!
...ok, I admit, I kinda like her too.
I don't find that I've posted anything offensive in this dialog chain. In fact, I don't even share that poster in question's opinion of Cass. I just don't feel like it's my place to demand/suggest/advise that he clean it up. If, as you postulated, it was truly offensive, then the moderators should be consulted, that is their job, to define what is and what isn't acceptable behavior here. The problem with "self-policing" is, as we can see, differing opinions about what is acceptable, and why. Not to mention people that will jump in with a one off to get to throw the accusation of misogyny around, such as this post.
If the shoe fits....
Saying there's a specific way a woman has to look for you to consider her a woman is pretty misogynistic.
I like Cass's new look too.
