I tend not to use too many JRPG references because people don't play them. So it's good to see. Being on the clock, makes a big difference to how you approach a game. You can easily fail if you get too caught up in optional content in some cases.
Woah, woah. Woah. This is the expectations police, you are under arrest for attempts of optimism and raising hopes beyond record limits. We're confiscating your exclamation marks.
But I only used two exclamation points. Fine. I'll try to maintain my optimism and the use appropriate ellipses since they are much less enthusiastic.......
Phew, much better. Optimism levels on the expectations barometer are falling away from dangerous levels. That was close.

Yes, because as much as I love Mass Effect, I love the idea of having to play through ME2 again just to have the possibility of romancing Garrus.
At least the "ME2 gated" romances for Broshep... you know... didn't have the characters die or leave you no matter what. Miri, Jack, and Tali still fall at Shepard's feet no matter what. Whereas FemShep... "Sorry, was I supposed to wait for you?"
I have to play through ME2 just to romance Tali, Miri, or Jack. They don't even become party members (except Tali but you get her late in the game) in ME3 unlike Garrus. Its not BioWare's fault if you decided to start Mass Effect at the third game.

I didn't. I have been a fan since the beginning. I have 6 ME1 PTs and 5 ME2s and what I am saying is that I don't like that I AM FORCED to reload a completely different import (I never completed a Garrus-mance) in order to have ONE OTHER Hetero option as Femshep in ME3. All of my ME2 romances were Kaidan-Loyal. Kaidan/Thane. Kaidan/Thane. Liara/Jacob. I didn't do a Femshep Garrus run because by the time I got to it, I decided to roll a BroShep and romance Miranda.
At least BroShep has WITHOUT GATING Liara, Ash, and Allers. Femshep has one option without the gating. ONE. That IS Bioware's fault.
If I play on the PC I can use a save game editor to unlock Garrus but I shouldn't have to cheat for my Shep to get some manmeat.

I am pretty sure that is a legit warning printed on every DA game.
WARNING: May cause tears, despair, and irreparable FEELS.

Sory, but i can't resist...
Yet you decided to post this in a thread asking for a homosexual male romance...
Sory, but i can't resist...
Yes, yes you are.
Sory, but i can't resist...
In a thread specifically discussing romance? I'd say so, yes. ![]()
Why is it that people who don't care about the romances spend so much time telling us how much they don't care? Do they have trouble working their mice and other human-interface devices? Are their back buttons tragically broken?
I mean, you don't see me going into threads about long hair or crafting or Cullen or whatever and telling people how much I don't care if they're in the game.

That's the million dollar question. And regarding pretty much every type of thread in general on these forums - someone will always come in and play the "I'm superior because I don't care about what you care about" card for the heck of it. ![]()
I've seen plenty of arguments/discussions where people that "don't care" about romances will discuss at length why romances don't matter, why they don't care about them, and why no one else should either, though it is often in relation to the feeling that, "If I don't care about romances, then why include them? Remove them and give us more of x that I care about." When, really, development doesn't work that way anyway.
The only time I romanced anyone in my Bioware games was with Kaidan as male shep. I honestly couldn't give a crap about romances. They're fun, but a little pointless. Though I'm not saying take them out. If they please people, cool. But for me personally, I don't dig romances. My characters are always all business. Plus, as a perfectionist, romances complicate so much.
With that said, Sera seems more like the kind of person I'd just be friends with. Sweet and all, but I'll pass.

Man, you so edgy.
LMAO.
I had a really good laugh with your post.
My favorite part was 'ashamed of being straight'. Like wow, having some gay characters makes people ashamed of being straight. That's interesting to hear. Also since when is bioware 'alienating' straight dudes? They will give you someone to romance. The problem isn't bioware, the problem is your tastes. Force you to be female? Do you know you can play as a dude too right?
Wow you're really weak, imagine us women who we get forced to play a dude in every game out there.... you already gave up in the first game to have a woman.
And bye, i'm sure biowEAR won't miss you.
That was a bit Harsh don't you think?
Yes he would of structured his wording differently yo sound less childish but if that is how he feels at the moment then we can no help that.
I understand where you are coming from too and yes it is true that we females have to put up with a lot of male ego in games but at least Bioware gives us the nice options that most companies do not give us.
I do not think that guy is weak he might just be a tad frastated and misunderstood the information
have a pleasant day you two
I would actually be really happy if Solas was gay and Dorian was bi. That's at least two companion romances I'd be interested in trying. If Cullen was also bi, that's best case scenario for me and I would be absolutely amazed. I really want Dorian available to me in some capacity. If I also get either Cullen or Solas, great! If I get all three, wow, I really didn't expect three options in this game, period, let alone three that I actually like.
But, sunshine and rainbows optimism aside, I really am not expecting to get all three. I'm leaning towards Solas likely being the hetero option and, if not, probably Cullen. I don't support the latter, since I don't think the exclusives should be NPCs, but I wouldn't be surprised by it.
But breaking this down into what we know, these are basically out of the running as gay;
Cole - Heavily implied not to be an LI.
Cullen - He has a massive female fan base and he previously showed interest in a female. I strongly doubt he's gay.
Varric - His relationship with Bianca shows he's at least bisexual.
Then we have the remaining options;
Iron Bull - I believe what his writer said is strong evidence that he's bisexual. I don't really believe his writer wouldn't have known what people would take from what he said. This isn't his first rodeo, he knows how people would react. I don't think he's that obtuse. That doesn't necessarily mean IB wants a relationship, though, as the Qun doesn't believe in it. I think IB will be bi if he's a LI and his status is questionable, generally.
Blackwall - It's possible he could be gay, but I really hope the first ever gay male wont be tragically close to death. I think the Bioware team is pretty aware of how a lot of people would take this. I think they're pretty socially aware people that would ping with the "Bury Your Gays" trope and (hopefully) try to avoid it. That being said, they also got a lot of flack from women for Thane and I wonder if they'd go down that route again at all, if so soon. I could see him more likely being like Wynne in a similar situation of living on borrowed time and trying to do something good with the time they've got left. I doubt he'll be an LI.
Solas - We don't know much about him at all. We don't know enough to really guess if he's even a viable LI, but people assume the two elves will be. I've seen a lot of people complain that it would be a problem if both elves were gay. I can't say that bothers me for any particular reason. I can see where the devs might try to avoid it, though, because I'm not surprise people are taking issue with it, even if I'm not. Based on that, I'm leaning towards him being either straight or bi.
Dorian - He's got the most wide appeal of any companion, so it would make plenty of sense to make him bisexual. People have cited his name's association with Dorian Gray and his dandy appearance as reasons he may have always been created with homosexual themes in mind. The truth is, though, there's no strong reason why he couldn't be straight, gay or bi. At the same time, though, I would say he has the least points for him not being gay.
I think we will get 6 romance options, actually.
Gay: Sera & Dorian.
Straight: Cassandra & Cullen OR Cassandra & Varric (Dwarf restricted romance).
Bisexual: Scribe Girl & Solas OR Scribe Girl & Cullen.
Not 100% sure on who's straight & who's bisexual, but I'm pretty sure there will be at least 6 love interests in total.
I still think Viv is a no go romances. Cass will be str8. Iron Bull will swing both ways. Cullen is straight. Scribbles will be bi. Dorian will be the male gay option. IMO.
I love how this thread went from "WAH MAN TEARS" to "Lets play guess the romance orientation!"
I'm not kidding. I seriously love it.
On topic:
I'm female and bi, though I tend to be more into gentlemen, but more so because of a lack of any available ladies in my life then any other particular reason.
That said: I adore that Sera is going to be a lesbian. I absolutely want one of our male companions to be full on gay. If said gay male companion removes one of my options, I'm perfectly okay with that. Even if it's the one companion I really want to try romancing. Because even if it removes my option to romance said male with my ladyinqisitor, it opens up options for our bi and gay male fellow gamers. And even though I tend not to play male protagonists if I have the option, it also gives me more reason to play from the opposite view point if I really really do just want to romance X gay male companion. And maybe that companion that I have my eyes on, should they be gay, doesn't actually appeal to me once I get elbow deep into the game. Or maybe I play and the straight or bi options don't do it for me.
That is by far the best thing about having options! Really dislike the straight option? Go Bi! Don't like the bi option either? Roll a dude(or a chick) and snuggle up to gaycompanion! Really like Varric but he's not into humans? BREAK OUT DEM DWARVES. Solas only into other elves? Woop woop put on some pointy ears.
And by including all sorts of different folks with different strokes, people who are gay can have the same choices I have. Maybe they wanna romance the straight option so they roll up the opposite gender. Maybe they aren't feeling gay dude/chick and so go after someone who's bi. Maybe they really just hate Dwarves so they only play Qunari. Everyone is "locked out" of something... and yet because it's a roleplaying game, no one is. Everyone gets the same options, because all of them exist.
