So, if Sera is lesbian.. that means there's a homosexual male too, right?

The more I look at this pic, the more I love how she looks. Aveline was (somewhat sadly) off-limits, but Cassandra is so much lovelier. Can't imagine anything better... well, barring Sigourney Weaver as a romance option. ))

I with you.  Cassandra is  .  If all you dudes don't want her, give her to us.

I vaguely recall a few people complaining about the sex scene with Isabela, thinking that it was designed for a m/f coupling and was inappropriate for f/f.  I was pretty disappointed to hear that - I guess I've been doing it wrong.  :(   So maybe part of the reason for doing so is so that they can design romance scenes that are gender conscious.  Shrug.

That's a shame, because I thought the Isabella scene was perfect for f/f.  Especially if you're playing a female warrior.  Sure, it's more likely for a m/f couple, but lots of women can easily pick up and carry other women.

What about PLAYER sexual LI's? like that everyone is happy! I mean in the end its about everyone getting the most out of the game.. Why limit the game when you don't have to? In DA2 you got to chose between ALL romances depending on what you wanted.. Its all about the players.

No. Not everyone is happy.

Playersexuality was a very imperfect way to give players choices. However it made companions more shallow in my opinion. Either everyone was bisexual or everyone had fluid personality depending on Hawkes gender. I am one of these persons who belive that sexuality is part of individuality and definitely is not something fluid (in my own experience at least).

I am glad that we will see companions with constant personality. Changing npc's sexuality during character creation process would be the same as changing his/her appearance, class, history and any other vital traits.

Heyy I'm just saying it would've been nice to have at least one good-looking woman in the game for us guys! And no I don't really like playing a female character unless there is no choice as in Tomb Raider, for instance.

You poor straight males gamers. You are always doomed to be neglected when it comes to romances. It was always like that, everyone knows that. You deserve to have at least one pretty npc straight girl to romance. After all you are waiting for it since Baldur's Gate 2. I hope that developers will have some mercy for you guys. : :(

Oh, with that, what are the chances that we see differences in romance scenes between male and female when romancing a bisexual character?

But to suggest that you are not getting "the full experience" or that you have no options at all is silly and, yeah, probably a bit entitled.

Entitled is asking for [insert sexuality]-exclusive content.

If I play a male and can romance Solas, why would I be upset that a female can, as well?

It doesn't affect me.

I got a warning post just because I said Cassandra is ugly for me so I won't argue there since freedom of opinion is not welcome in this forum.

However what I would like to point out is that we lack a feminine companion for a male gamer to romance, when I say feminine I refer to Merrill style or ME1 Liara. I general like to romance the naive, innocent girl..seems this is not an option anymore...pity.

I clearly see how it's better to have playersexual companions. Hope ME:Next will avoid this problem.

She's my favorite love interest in Mass Effect. It was her voice that got me hooked.

And now you can have that voice for your character.

If you call a woman ugly, no matter if it's true or not, you -will- be swarmed by angry feminists.

Let's be honest, facial scars, a manjaw and short hair aren't qualities most males like in a woman.

But that's not my main issue. Hell, I think Tali is the best romance in ME and she doesn't even have a face.

What I dislike about Cassandra, is that she's pretty much Aveline. I can already imagine her romance arc: she'll be tough as nails for most of the game until the Inquisitor creeps into her heart and she puts down the mean girl attitude, revealing a most likely troubled past that forced her to be tough as nails.

Basically Jack and Aveline blended together.

And while I am making predictions, I'll also say Vivienne is Pro-Circle because, most likely, an abomination/apostate killed someone dear to her.

Not that I won't romance both. But I'd have prefered every character to be playersexual. Sera, being Dalish, is instantly more interesting to me than Vivienne and Cassandra.

We have no info that Sera is Dalish. In fact, all evidence points to her being a City Elf.

I don't think feminine and naive/innocent are even remotely the same thing. You can be feminine without possessing either of those traits.

Something to keep in mind though is that NONE of the females this time around really appear to have that young naive personality, Which is something I'm actually grateful for. It's really refreshing to see women that are already confident, strong, etc.

We still don't know anything about Scribe Girl. If she's available, maybe she is everything you hoped for in a romance.

My bad. The demo shows her with a bow, going through a field, so I assumed she's a type of hunter/ranger.

I'm just a sucker for Elves in Dragon Age.

Personally I'm sick of the 'naive young helpless/innocent' personality in female characters. I'm liking that the female characters in DA:I are 'seemingly' (so said since we don't *really* know them yet) strong(ish) and independent. And I'm liking the 'every woman has to have long flowing hair and all soft and round to be considered female' trope is being tossed out. (I mean, are you basing feminity based on what they look like? Or their personality?...to toss it back, would you be irritated if I said the definition of masculinity was that all guys had to know how to mechanic, do yardwork, build houses, be rough and gruff, swill beer, watch football, fart, have some sort of facial hair, be a little on the dumb side, and wear flannel?)

The females I know RL with the 'naive young helpless/innocent' type of personality would pretty much crumble under the pressure that situations like DA or ME would toss them into. Man, one of my friends, who would fit that personality trope, whose husband was away for a week for work was a total wreck when they had a slight basement flooding issue. Totally unable to cope. (at least Liara grew a little by the end of ME3, Merrill I kept wanting to drop-kick)

And I think Sera would be a City Elf since she was a part of the Friends of Red Jenny.

As for what Sera looks like, hoping to see more screens of her with more facial expressions other than that blank stare, she kind of looks like she bit into a lemon. And she really needs someone else to cut her hair (it looks like mine from when I was in 2nd grade and took the scissors to my hair right before school picture day). Also wondering about the heavy eyeliner Leliana and Sera seem to have gotten into (is it a rogue thing?).

Personally I like what Cassandra looks like, the redesign has grown on me. She looks on the outside what I would expect a woman who's wearing armor and traipsing around the world killing things would look like. A little rough and a little dirty. Sorry, but women IRL when out camping/hiking/hunting etc don't look all pretty and made-up (in fact taking make-up out in the woods with you is an invitation to having a bear visit you in the middle of the night). We've been asking for realism...well here's realism for you...people who fight are going to get scars, are going to get bloody, are going to *gasp* get dirty and sweaty. I'm thinking that she's going to be the crunchy exterior type with a soft and creamy center, those round crunchy hazelnut chocolate cream filled candies come to mind.

As for Vivinne, I think she looks good. Hope to see her with her hat off in-game. A little shiny faced, but some of us *gasp* have oily shiny skin! I also want to see her with more facial expressions, right now from what we've seen she's got that same blank stare (there's something weird with the animation where she turns away and walks off, I think it's with the eyes).

Then your wishes have been granted however this leaves me (and others) without a viable romance. Now all female companions are the same (strong & independent)...so how now the situation is better? We have less choice.

You have a point on this regard it's more a matter of personal taste. I got used to have at least one of the naive character type in my BW games and generally was the one I romanced so since I found it attractive I tended to consider it feminine. That's more a personal preference but again as you pointed out the fact NONE of the female characters have these traits left me without a viable romance for my personal taste. How is this fresh if you limit the choice of other players?

Of course, because all women who are "strong" and "independent" think and act exactly the same.

For which I'm utterly glad! I like that the DA team seeks to give us romance diversity, and brings in a different set of personalities with each game.

Me personally? I like strong, capable people with a decent sense of humour. Dependent, fragile, naive people are about as far from my 'type' as it's possible to get  I wasn't a fan of either Merrill or Bethany in DA2, and in comparison I really liked Isabela's free spirit, and independence.

I know it takes all types to make a world- and I'm really sorry for the people who aren't seeing anyone they find attractive yet, but the next game will likely bring a totally different set of options to choose from yet again :D

I also feel I need to add- we haven't seen any of the companions or advisers in game yet- people could find themselves surprised. People's personalities can creep up on you

Beauty or its lack thereof is a subjective concept.

Not to mention the word "ugly" is rather uncalled for, considering it implies not only lack of beauty, but actually repelling aesthetics.

In real life this would be true but in videogames you don't have time nor money to create complex personalities so it would end up in the steretypes...it's always like that. Before we had the stereotype of the naive/innocent girl now we have the strong and independent. Games characters are all based on stereotypes

There is still a potential NPC option to consider. The Scribe Girl (adviser) has been touted as a potential romance option, and if her attire is any judge, she may be the 'traditionally feminine' character you are looking for.
