So, if Sera is lesbian.. that means there's a homosexual male too, right?

Don't worry, comparing to those whining and to those that were sad but got over it, the majority was the latter. And bioware doesn't care about that because they already have many gay/bi fans that support them. Some straight dudes will have to deal with it. :)

Thanks this made me feel better, honestly the fact there is a lesbian companion option at all makes me skip, I am just overly worried about losing it and how much an effect these guys have. Liara in ME1... No one in ME2. But that was awhile ago, and Bioware is pretty confident too, just have to hope and cross my toes that it will all be awesome in the end.

ME3's traynor left me really upset.

Wish they went playersexual on that one.

Iron bull if he's a romance option, is most likely bisexual based on his character profile

I'm not sure what happened there, but Liara was available to men too so there was no issues.

I mean thats the deal. Some men are going to miss out on an option, and so are some women. Without all bi options there will be more of a variety of romances but they wont all be available to you every game.

seeing people saying that Cassandra is manly, a man, ugly, a btch etcetc is getting old. it's fine if you don't find her aesthetically appealing, everyone has different preferences. but huffing about the forums going on about how "ugly" and "manly" she is - there's simply no need for it. leave it, or express yourself better. it's possible to say that you don't find her attractive without being insulting and crude.

And I wish they went playersexual with Ash, Miranda, Jack, Tali. Having one that isn't available to you wasn't bad since you had 7674567 options. ;)

Straight: Cullen, Vivienne
Gay: Sera, Dorian
By: Scribbles, Cassandra

You can swap vivienne and scribbles but it matters a little..... Mind you i guessed all the companions but Cole (8/9) back in Feb-March. So you tell me who should i romance ? My taste : I like women, which are hot, charming, gentle, cute, cheery and easygoing. I do not want them to meet all those qualities, i want them to have at least of those. Even DA2 had Merrill which is cute and gentle, Isabella was hot(not for me but at least they tried) cheery and easygoing.

We don't know anything about Scribe girl yet. She could quite easily have several of these qualities. Cassandra is a romantic at heart according to her writer. Vivienne is a diplomat- the likelihood is she will be very charming if she likes you.

The devs have explicitly stated that they try to make new, and different, characters available in each game. Its nice if your perfect romance is in the game, but there will always be a different variety to choose from in the next game.

Bioware don't create the characters with the idea of romance in mind, they create the characters as people and then decide whether those characters would be open to romance.

I'm sorry that you're not impressed with the options available to you, I really am, but I can't and won't take anything away from the LGBTQ gamers being recognised with a character available to them. If it takes away a character I would like to romance, I will be sad, but I'll also be very happy for those players who have waited so long for recognition- it doesn't hurt me overall to give LGBTQ gamers a slice of the pie they have been denied for so long.

A lot of what I'm seeing in general seems to be "I'm OK with LGBTQ gamers getting a s/s romance- as long as it isn't someone I like".

That's not a fair attitude, and it's not OK. Gay and lesbian gamers have every right to have access to excellent companions. It's OK to be sad about missing out, but its better to be happy for those who are being included :)

yeah but some stations rose a stink that there was a same sex pairing at all and got onto Bioware for it on national news. It was a big deal. And then in ME2, there wasnt an option at all.

Same here, dude.

ME2, another BW game that had a big cast did so much better. Miranda, jack, Jacob, Samara, Kelly, Thane, Tali....If this studio made the game it would be like Jack(vivienne - bold, hardcore, commanding), Jack (Cassandra, male build, commanding, strong, male hair), Jack ( Sarah, male hair, lesbian, strong, sloppy (for lack of a better word), cursing, speaking more "manly" so to say). And the last woman left is Scribbles, which i do not have enough info about.

Except for the fact that ME2 had absolutely NO options for LGBTQ gamers at all. So of course straight gamers got more choice- they got ALL the available choice

Kelly was available to both, Samara could be hit on by both, Morinth could be approached by both, Liara's same-sex romance could carry into the LotSB dlc.

None of which actually counted towards the romance achievement, and none of which count as s/s to gay male gamers.

i am offended. I am a woman, who has a strong jaw, short hair cut and wear baggy jeans and T shirts. I am a woman. insulting fictional characters by bringing these traits up and making them sound like they are the worst traits to have in the world and somehow devalues you as a person, is incredibly insulting. Because real people have these traits.

Still counts as a S/S romance. for Females at least.

But we didnt because we are, y know. Lesbians. It would be like me saying you can't complain about the straight romances because instead you could be bi/gay. Many women don't want to romance men the same way straight guys dont want to romance men.

Its possible (in fact likely) that I was unclear.

None of that content was exclusively accessible to LGBTQ gamers. All of that content was also accessible to straight gamers, with straight gamers having the added bonus of several other options on top. That is nowhere near the equal representation which LGBTQ gamers should be entitled to. What I am trying to express is that although I can understand it is upsetting for people not to have access to the LI's they want, the bigger picture is that the feeling of true inclusion and representation for LGBTQ gamers is a wonderful occasion, and I wish people could put aside their personal preferences to be happy for them.

Thane, who gets brutally murdered by a space ninja almost right at the beginning of ME3?  Yeah, that's a great romance.

Barely.  Kelly has like one special line of dialogue with you and a sexy dance post-game.  Morinth kills you.  Liara is only available in DLC in the second game.  We're talking about table scraps.  It's not even a matter of them not being full romances--they have barely a fraction of the content that a full romance has in those games.

And gay men had it even worse in the ME series.  Not even a flirt option for two entire games.

I'm not saying that there shouldn't be any Gay/Lesbian romances at all , hopefully that't not what you got from that.  Da3 should hopefully be better for that. its likely there will be 1 Gay 1 Lesbian and 2- maybe 4? Bi romances (then 2 maybe 3 straight ones) so everyone should have a decent sized pool of LI's.

I dearly hope you go and tell every man who acts like Cassandra does they're "a total *****", too. Including some critique of their looks, ofc.

Fingers crossed :) I didn't think you were anti- s/s romances, but my original post about ME2 was in response to a post about how ME2 handled the romance options better :) I was hoping to point out that they were only 'better' for straight gamers :) sorry if you got caught in the crossfire a bit, I hope I didn't cause any offence :)

I certainly believe everyone will get equal representation in this game and I'm so happy I could hug everyone about it. I felt guilty most of the way through ME that I had more options than others :)
