So, if Sera is lesbian.. that means there's a homosexual male too, right?

I'm not saying that there shouldn't be any Gay/Lesbian romances at all , hopefully that't not what you got from that.  Da3 should hopefully be better for that. its likely there will be 1 Gay 1 Lesbian and 2- maybe 4? Bi romances (then 2 maybe 3 straight ones) so everyone should have a decent sized pool of LI's.

Actually no, i'd prefer there were equal gay/straight romances. No more, no less.

Fingers crossed :) I didn't think you were anti- s/s romances, but my original post about ME2 was in response to a post about how ME2 handled the romance options better :) I was hoping to point out that they were only 'better' for straight gamers :) sorry if you got caught in the crossfire a bit, I hope I didn't cause any offence :)

I certainly believe everyone will get equal representation in this game and I'm so happy I could hug everyone about it. I felt guilty most of the way through ME that I had more options than others :)

No harm no foul =)

I'm just pointing out how I guess it'll end up that's all.  Sera and Solas (or dorian) will be your Gay/lesbian , Cassandra,Cullen (and maybe varric) would be your straight , that's why i said 2-3 depending on if Varric is included.

Ditto this :) just seen :) I think things should be equal for everyone. Straight gamers certainly do not need to be the ones with extra content, if anyone :)

he was just quoting some figures going around.

But back to the original post...

The Male options include Blackwell, Solas, Varric, Dorian, Cullen, Iron Bull

Pretty sure Iron Bull is Bi

Cullen is a romance and I have a feeling is a Bi NPC romance

Varric i think is gated to dwarves only.

And then there is Solas and Dorian I think one is straight and one is gay, but from there...confusion of course Blackwell could be an option which throws it all out of whack, but for some reason, I think he will be non romanceable.

I'd expect both Cullen and IB to be Bi too :) but with the new race gating I wonder if Varric will also fit in somewhere, and whether they will completely surprise us and have Blackwall be the m/m option.

There is an entire thread right below this one called "Female companions = sexy, male companions = average..."

What I got from that thread was that most of people were confused about it since that isn't popular opinion at all. Tumblr is full of fanart of sexy Dorian, Cullen, chesthair, Solas, Ser Bara etc.. every male character has their fangirls already all hoping to romance them XD I'm of cource one of them ^^ It seems like fanboys who are planning doing straight male characters are struggling most ^^;

Thane, who gets brutally murdered by a space ninja almost right at the beginning of ME3?  Yeah, that's a great romance.

So if you, you don't like something it is bad but if someone else don't unhappy they just have to deal with it. I relay like Sera profile she is nice and hoped to romance Sera. And I play Male human rogue first so I can't be unhappy because most likely my options are Vivienne(based on information so far she is well just bad person) And Cassandra who I don't like since DA2 and Dawn of the Seeker.

I will never understand why so many guys flip out over the mere thought of playing anything but straight men. I've played male and female characters who were of a huge variety of sexualities and I never once got my boxers in a bunch over it. I say this as a guy myself, btw.

I honestly didn't expect to see male gamers complaining about Sera being a Lesbian....between the game itself and the floor show being provided in this forum Dragon Age Inquisition has more than earned it's pre-order price in my book.

That's life, you will not always get what you want. This would not be an issue if the all bi was back from DA2 though ;)

But would you have felt any differently if she was not available at all, like the people who wanted Aveline and Varric in DA2, or is it simply that she is unavailable to the kind of character you want to play, but available to others that upsets you? I don't think anyone is trying to say that you can't be unhappy about not being able to romance her with your desired inquisitor, but it doesn't hurt straight male gamers to be gated off just this once with just one companion, when they have so many other games to choose from. This is not an option for LGBTQ gamers, which is why it is in my opinion lovely that they will have an equal share of exclusive characters this time :)

I'm in the same boat , I play both M an F characters in everything , Its how you enjoy the full story by experiencing every angle of it.

There are, however, many women who realise that yes, men can also be held to unreasonable and unnatural stereotypes, and caricatures can go both ways. This doesn't change the fact that women are more likely to be exploited in both popular culture and daily life. Its also a little irrelevant to the thread. There are a wide variety of male companions available. They will each have imperfections of both features and character- just like real people. Its what makes them fleshed out as characters :)

No-one was saying it's wrong not to be interested in any of the available women- just that its nicer to be supportive of the people who are :)

Not what I'm saying at all.  There is a difference between:

1. Getting as many options as everyone else, with as much content for each option as everyone else, but not finding those options subjectively attractive.

and

2. Getting fewer options, and one of those options, through variables you cannot control, winds up dead.

Granted, many of the ME2 romances become unavailable in ME3, but overall, straight men had more options than anybody else in ME3.

Some people can only roleplay themselves, others can only stand to romance the opposite sex or the same sex once they play the opposite gender and yet other people don't really care. Everyone is different. I, as a guy, can only stand to play a heterosexual male and lesbian female.

The only thing I don't quite understand how people can claim Cassandra is not attractive and looks like a dude. Yes, she is a bit more manly, but I don't think she is less attractive. At the end of the day I don't really care which woman I can romance on my main character, a dwarf male. As long as I can romance any female at all, I at least feel I have access to all features of a Bioware game without feeling forced to play a different race all together just to get to experience a heterosexual romance.

So the male inquisitor only gets Grace jones? And Cassandra ? She looks like a man. So is Biowear just trying to alienate there male fan base ? Or force you to be a. A female to Romance.sera? Well thank god for the witcher where I don't have to be ashamed of Being straight.ill wait for the reviews. And I'm canceling my pre order. Thank Biowear.

Bioware's evil plan is working, alienating straight male gamers by making the 1 companion all of them will want to romance a lesbian

http://24.media.tumb...h2o7zo1_500.gif

While I can understand some disappointment (I'll be disappointed of Cass isn't bi), there is no need to be so ridiculous about it.

As a female gamer, I've spent most of my gaming life as a man being forced to romance woman (not a big deal for me, since I'm bi, but I can image how it might be annoying for straight women), if this is the first time you've ever felt like this, then congratulations, you're the most tailored to demographic in gaming.

Perhaps its time to get out of your comfort zone, roll a woman, or a gay male, you might find a great gaming experience.

Well, to explain the difference is awhile, but first at least in comic books, especially in comics, Women are a male fantasy, while most mean are male power fantasies. Some women really do love muscles on top of muscles, but a whole lot more prefer lean builds, muscular but not too much. Most of the women exist for the men and most of the men exist...for the men. One magazine sample showed the actor who portrayed Wolverine in two different magazines one marketed to men, another to women and you get the idea.

Finding someone sexy isnt the problem, nothing is sexist in finding someone sexy, but the difference between sexy and sexualized is a wide gulf. Not saying guys dont get sexualized. Jacob was sexualized to an absurd degree. People found Ashley sexy, as they did Miranda, but in the game Miranda was sexualized as was Morinth and Edi. Liara was not. There is a degree where you are supposed to look at someone and in art or other artistic mediums  their sole look is about being sexy or to ogle them. This isnt constant but it happens often enough.

So in that picture you posted, Power Girl is posed like that just to be sexy. It is sexualized. Superman can be thought of sexy, but he is talking to Batman and there is no intent for that to be his sole role here. He is challenging, also denoting power, and capability.
