So, if Sera is lesbian.. that means there's a homosexual male too, right?

I am a LONG time Bioware fan, day 1 in fact.  I see where this poster is coming from.  The Witcher barb aside, I too am starting to feel a little alienated.

The poster was a little crude, but I can understand his feelings.  Cassandra is freaking ugly and she is a total ******.  This is what I got from Dragon Age 2, and from the trailer.  I'm sure her character will be fleshed out, but I am just saying.  This isn't a gay vs straight thing, I am and I am sure most if not all players are fine with the bisexual option for characters.  But locking a character down like this doesn't make much sense.

Haven't been this disappointed since ME3 and not being able to romance Traynor.

Its not a gay or straight thing...and yet...the ONE time there was a same sex female romance it made you upset. No, yeah, it doesn't sound like a gay vs. straight thing.

You speak like she is an actual person who might read this and get offended.

I think a lot of us are speaking like real women (and men) who would prefer not to hear characters trashed for not adhering to stereotypical standards of beauty and/or having to be some doting, smiling, kiss-ass 24/7 to not be called a ******.

You had Garrus and Thane. They're better than everyone else combined.

Your argument is invalid.

This thread is about Sera, who is a lesbian. As in, will be romanced by a woman. Femsheps who 'had' Garrus and Thane may not have the same audience. (some sure, since many women who played FemShep were bisexual, but definitely not all were).

So i guess you just spoiled the theme of DA IV: Nugs Invasion.

My straight male inquisitor will be choosing from:

- Scribbles, which we did not see properly, but she looks ugly and probably will have the typical Orlesian personality, with the accent and all that. Mind you, i consider her to be the best option by a country mile.

- Vivienne, if available at all.... She is.....bold, commanding, obsessed with shoes and arrogant.(this last thing remains to be seen, a wild guess by me) Basically the exact opposite description of a woman, who a male in 21st century will fall in love with. Or even bang her.

- My buddy cass, who i like to drink beer with and watch the world cup games.

@vin  cass is tearing open 8ft tall iron walls with her bare hands, she is Aveline all over again. If you watch game of thrones, she is the Brienne character.

Mr.-Krabs-Plays-The-Worlds-Smallest-Viol God, go play Duke Nukem already.

Some people can only roleplay themselves, others can only stand to romance the opposite sex or the same sex once they play the opposite gender and yet other people don't really care. Everyone is different. I, as a guy, can only stand to play a heterosexual male and lesbian female.

The only thing I don't quite understand how people can claim Cassandra is not attractive and looks like a dude. Yes, she is a bit more manly, but I don't think she is less attractive. At the end of the day I don't really care which woman I can romance on my main character, a dwarf male. As long as I can romance any female at all, I at least feel I have access to all features of a Bioware game without feeling forced to play a different race all together just to get to experience a heterosexual romance.

My main or favored play-throughs are yes Straight males , but I play quite often if not just as many , Straight females , and the occasional lesbian female. I don't ever play gay male characters , Why? because its my choice and preference.

I almost never pick the heterosexual romance options and I was very satisfied with Leliana, Kaidan, Liara, and Zevran. Sera is going to be awesome and no amount of whiners are going to convince me otherwise.

Well, to explain the difference is awhile, but first at least in comic books, especially in comics, Women are a male fantasy, while most mean are male power fantasies. Some women really do love muscles on top of muscles, but a whole lot more prefer lean builds, muscular but not too much. Most of the women exist for the men and most of the men exist...for the men. One magazine sample showed the actor who portrayed Wolverine in two different magazines one marketed to men, another to women and you get the idea.

You don't need to explain I watch anime and mostly man exist for women, but I don't have problem with it.

I will never understand why so many guys flip out over the mere thought of playing anything but straight men. I've played male and female characters who were of a huge variety of sexualities and I never once got my boxers in a bunch over it. I say this as a guy myself, btw.

To be fair (and omg I can't believe I am doing this) I generally only play as a lesbian when given the chance. However, unlike the straight male gamer, I tend to stick to this because it's generally my only chance to play as not only a female, but a lesbian. That's not to say I won't play anything else in an RPG, but it's not common. If I want to play more of the games out there, I am going to be forced to play as a straight make, Not having to go that route is very refreshing.

And yet, while their looks cater to women, in neither picture were they at all treated like an object of just to be sexy. They still often have a male oriented story, and while their looks cater more to women's preference, they dont act or just are vessels of female characters to find them sexy. Jacob was sexualized. Because so much of his intereaction with other characters was about how muscular he was. Kasumi talks about him like he is a piece of meat. Fem shep romance was almost creepy how she pushed him, and the camera lingered on his muscles in a way that was obviously meant to be ogling.

How kasumi talks about Jacob is how way too many male characters talk about female characters all the time. And they are just supposed to stay there and take it.it is worse in comics since every artist is trained to ignore how a feminine body actually works in favor of her sexiness, while men it is always to make them seem cooler and more powerful.

I would bet it is Dorian, I mean it makes sense with the overall cast. In before blackwall! I would love that actually.

Also I love how unfair bioware is, to, for the first time giving the players a character exclusive to feminqusitor, How life is unfair in the world of video games, to have one character that I cannot romance with my specificity PC! All of this **** and the mention of The Witcher is highly ironic but not surprising.

You people really did not complain about ME 2, so I would say just do not talk as spoil child, when your desire is cater from left to right, in almost any game ever. And like you said you have options like The WItcher to go too, and most people do not.

I think (and hope) that there will be a gay male companion.

It's not Varric (either straight or bi), Iron Bull (confirmed bi), or Cole (confirmed as mind of a child).

So that leaves Solas, Dorian, and Blackwall.  I suspect that it's going to be Dorian, because I don't think they'll do three bisexual elves followed by two gay elves.  It could very well be Blackwall, but I just have a sneaking suspicion that they wouldn't consider him to be gay romance material (note I didn't say that I don't see him as gay romance material though).

I'm almost certain there will be :)

I'm also almost certain he will be Dorian. I'd be happy with that despite it putting my Fem!Quisitor out of the running, he seems like a really interesting character and he has a large fanbase. It won't do me any harm to play from a gay male perspective for a change either :)

She gets big kudos to. So let's be friends lesbians I have much Respect.for your movement your multicolored flags. And softball I just wanted an attractive female to Romance. Not to be scolded by you Lott.

Maybe you should've worded it better. And not finding Cass or Viv attractive is not Bioware's fault, it's just your tastes.

So, let's take a look at Mass Effect 2 for a second, not a single gay romance (besides shadow broker DLC).
Closer to home: Dragon Age Origins.
Four romances, two straight, two bisexual.

There isn't a single 100% gay character in that game, and gay players have one option each, whereas straight players get two.

And now, FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE SERIES, they've announced ONE gay character so far, and you think they're being unfair to straight people? Give me a break.

Bioware are great developers, and contrary to popular belief, there's more to the world than straight guys.

And I'm a straight guy.

Hummm actually this is the first time bioware has done it. I do not count npcs as valid, since they get a lot less content. Actually you are wrong I play game since I am seven. And although there are some games that let you do this as old as Arcanum for example, it was never a thing only though for the female avatar like this, and if it is, it is rare. Unless you know of some games bioware did, that I do not know.

Edit: Kotor does not count the content was cut.

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. This picture is the male equivalent of Power Girl (linked for obvious reasons-proceed at your own risk). It's laughable, but it isn't funny because this is how women are portrayed all the time.

They are both gorgeous women.  I just watched Conan the Destroyer again the other night and was taken aback at how pretty Zula was in some of the scenes.

Yay!  Bear love all around!  It's rare to see my kind portrayed in video games!
