They are both gorgeous women. I just watched Conan the Destroyer again the other night and was taken aback at how pretty Zula was in some of the scenes.
Yay! Bear love all around! It's rare to see my kind portrayed in video games!
I ran out of likes and there is so much in this thread I want to like but can't ![]()
I feel alienated ![]()
They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. This picture is the male equivalent of Power Girl (linked for obvious reasons-proceed at your own risk). It's laughable, but it isn't funny because this is how women are portrayed all the time.
Do you honestly believe any girl in existence would find this sexy? This is not equivalent. This is the reason why we have gender specific clothes. If something looks good on someone doesn't mean it have same effect on other.

Well I am sure some would. You are right but then allot of that is because of the way we condition ourselves, men are taught to be strong, successful, powerful ect. These are the traits we consider manly and so they are the traits women generally find more attractive. All you have to do is look at other cultures and at history to see that what is considered an attractive man and what is seen as an attractive way for a man or a woman to dress varies. It really depends on what the values are and what the society is like.
It's different today even, for example women can wear clothes that would historically be considered men's clothes and still be considered attractive.
Well, then the whole "Every homosexual Bioware LI's name starts with S" thing will still be true.
ME3: Samantha, Steve
DAI: Sera
Well...damnit.
So Cassandra having two in her name is a good thing, right? Right!?

That's the point. It isn't sexy, it's ridiculous, and I did warn that it was laughable, but not funny. It's no less ridiculous when people portray women in clothing like that.
Words are more powerful than any weapon when you disagree with the LGBT crowed David Gaider would be proud. Freedom of speech unless you disagree with the Gay Biowear agenda why doesn't Biowear just make a video Game with the main character.thats a gay man or a gay woman? If it's REALY that important to alienate there male fan base? I wouldn't buy it butt I'm sure all of you would.
I am male and a game with a gay male protagonist wouldn't alienate me at all. In fact, I'd pre-order the collector's edition the day it went on sale.

Do you even take a few minutes to think your responses through? Because right now you're kind of just bashing your hands on the keyboard and submitting whatever comes out of it.

I'll take the lesbian version. I'd be all over something like this. Not that I see it happening anytime soon, but a girl can dream.
This thread hasn't been locked yet? surprising

If you maid it as joke then I don't understand what is your point. And it don't look ridiculous on women, and a lot of people would agree with me.And If you want equivalent, this is equivalent not the caricature you show.

I doubt it's Blackwall.
Why? Blackwall would be my preferred gay male companion. Blackwall would be an awesome choice.

I think that the point is not only the revealing outfits but also the ridiculous poses that aren't natural or realistic. Yes, there are some male characters who are sexualized in comics, but the vast majority of them are completely covered (neck to wrist) and/or in some kind of armor. Most female characters are in skimpy outfits and hypersexualized. That's the point. You seem to be saying, "Well there are some male characters who are sexualized as well, so there's no problem here"......
Eh, trying to suggest gender-specific clothing is objective truth (or that certain clothing is coded gender-specifically and looks better on x gender) is a pointless path to head down. In the 19th century, which is not so long ago, the color pink was used as the color for boys and blue was for girls. Pink was seen as strong and passionate because it was a form of the color red. In the 1600s, it was MEN that wore high heel shoes and were a fashionable statement for wealthy men and the aristocracy. Fabulous calves on men were super sexy.

King Louis XIV of France.
Point is what is considered "ridiculous" or gender-specific is not an absolute constant.

What I am saying is "1)I want sexualized female character, and don't see problem here, I don't care if male is or not sexualized. . 2)Because it's not popular opinion, women bash me and think I hate women then it's absolutely opposite. 3)And I hate hypocrisy then man is unhappy Sera is lesbian and can't be romanced by male, just deal with it, on dragonage.com news on Cassandra go read "Maker please let her like girls..." "I hope she's f/f romance!" it's fine.

Most likely having to deal with someone's eventual death coming, and being the issue they'll mainly talk about (presumably), is a turnoff to a lot of folks.

A dude being shirtless may be sexy without being sexually objectifying. Same with women. It comes down to how something is framed or positioned. The Superman pic could be sexy but it wasn't sexualized the way the pic of PowerGirl was, where the intent of the picture was clearly for her to be seen as attractive/objectified. By contrast, the pic of Superman was meant to show him as powerful, as a person with agency/authority/power, and a side effect would be thinking that was sexy.
That 'maker please let her like girls' thing is a pretty old bit of drama/misunderstanding...and also, that wasn't exclusionary, it was, please let her be bi, not 'maker please don't let her like boys'. ![]()
You can be bummed out that Sera isn't available, thats fine. But the way comments are being phrased by many imply some sort of claim to her, and many are also phrasing it as 'damn she's gay, she was the only hot one, who will I pixel bang now'. Which underneath the awfulness is pretty hilarious, given how often straight men have gone into threads about straight women's LI's or LGBQ discussions to shame those parts of the fanbase for wanting a 'dating sim' etc. (when what they were by and large asking for was representation, equal options/treatment and general acknowledgement that more then straight men played the games).
Well...damnit.

They stand for Straight, Sorry. ![]()

You can stop about Power girl is not same sexy as superman sexy. I know it already, she still can beat crap out of us.
And how me wanting Sera be bisexual is exclusionary? Second post wants Cassandra be f/f (lesbian).
And Cullen already claimed by fan girl as husbando. Imagine if Bioware made him gay only, sweet sweet tears. Shame if you want, like I care my second play will be Female elf mage just for Sera. ![]()
Pff, you didn't know? She totally is Krogan!
She'll quite literally butt heads with people.
There are, however, many women who realise that yes, men can also be held to unreasonable and unnatural stereotypes, and caricatures can go both ways. This doesn't change the fact that women are more likely to be exploited in both popular culture and daily life. Its also a little irrelevant to the thread. There are a wide variety of male companions available. They will each have imperfections of both features and character- just like real people. Its what makes them fleshed out as characters
No-one was saying it's wrong not to be interested in any of the available women- just that its nicer to be supportive of the people who are
I see your point, and I raise you one more. 50 Shades of hypocrisy.
Super rich, super sexy, dominant sex fiend attracts innocent girl barely out of her teens with his mysterious past. But with the power of love they overcome it all and live happily ever after.
With his billions of dollars.
Good looks.
and billions of dollars.
You know what I dislike? This thread provides an excellent example. The whiny person who feels like they are getting segregated because a LI was taken away from them, and the Self-righteous social justice warriors who gleefully waits for those types of responses and go all out on them.
Apologies, that was just an annoying trend I keep find on these forums and I had a need to vent.
Anyway...I'm pretty sure the LIs will be evenly placed so it is fair to everyone. I doubt there is much to worry about.
