Why? Blackwall would be my preferred gay male companion. Blackwall would be an awesome choice.
Doesn't give me the vibe.
Dorian does, though.
I never play female characters...So my male inquisitor will just ignore romancing. I am not fan of males in women clothes (cassandra), so my options are gone. Scribbles look ugly also, but we did not see her very clear, only concepts and far away shots.
So the male inquisitor only gets Grace jones? And Cassandra ? She looks like a man. So is Biowear just trying to alienate there male fan base ? Or force you to be a. A female to Romance.sera? Well thank god for the witcher where I don't have to be ashamed of Being straight.ill wait for the reviews. And I'm canceling my pre order. Thank Biowear.
Well I certainly can't find any possible thing wrong with either of these posts! My god, the logic is superbly articulated.
Bah... the BSN sadly NEVER changes. It's a cesspool of ignorance and a hive of scum and villainy.
At any rate, on to the topic at hand, Bioware's said that there will be a lot of romances in this game, at least compared to previous DA games. Given that DAO had 4 romances (and a few escapades on the side) and DAII had 5 romances (and a few paid escapades on the side) I think it's safe to say DAI will have, well, more then that. ![]()

To be honest, sexuality is hardly predictable. It's not like you can just look at a person and go "Oh he's definitely straight". It's not a simple thing.
And honestly, the only vibe I get from Dorian is that he's a fan of Snidely Whiplash's looks. Which given that he's a good Magister (at least compared to the rest and from what we know as he advocates peace, though his persona could have its own failings as we are all human) is actually rather interesting.

It's that damn mustache man!
We can always bet on it.
But Blackwall really gives me straight vibes.
Iron Bull's probably bi.
Solas.. I doubt he is gay due to Sera already being so. It would be odd for both elves to be gay + the S thing ( all bioware gay characters start with S- Steve Cortez, Samantha Traynor, Sera )

Yeah, exactly. I mean we've got one quote from Blackwall and a few screenshots and that's it. Hardly enough for us to start making educated guesses.
The only vibe I get from Dorian is that HE NEEDS TO BE IN MY INQUISITOR'S BED.
Yep, looking at 2/2/2, or a 2/4/2 possibility. Not sure exactly which yet. Cause one person will have more than one option. So a straight and bi, or a gay and bi. Though a person can go bi and get 4 of the 6 as max possibility.

I... actually have a problem with Blackwall being the gay option considering some implications his character might pull in the story.
See, if Blackwall is nearing the end of his life and he's starting to hear "the Calling" due to him being a Grey Warden and all, then it's probably not going to end well. And this sort of falls under the whole "bury your gays" trope that I find troubling. If he is romanced, the outcome is most likely that he has to die in the end and that leaves your Inquisitor alone. I kind of get this a lot with mainstream fiction which centers around a character who so happens to be queer- "The Last Herald Mage" left me hating Mercedes Lackey, but eh, I digress.
For a male gay option, (as well as for Sera, and a couple of others as well), I kind of want their relationship to not end so tragically...
Would those who are arguing that both women and men are equally objectified in games please refer to this video for a good explanation of why you are completely and utterly wrong:

Iron Bull gives me the vibe that he'd hit on a tree if it was dressed up.
I say that only because his description makes me think of a line of dialogue between Shinon and Gatrie in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.

To extrapolate on that.
Male Gaze, Female Gaze, Gaze?

Interesting. I think it's safe-ish to say that there have been more tragic/frustrating romances for anything outside of the straight male PC and straight female LI coupling in general. Thane from Mass Effect pops into my head immediately.
Not that I ever romanced him, but it's still irritating.
If Blackwall is ultimately going to suffer a tragic fate and is straight, that would be just as frustrating.
I'd love a male LI (for my gay male PC or straight female PC) who ends up alive, happy, and doesn't spend every waking moment crying over some old love.
Iron Bull gives me the vibe that he'd hit on a tree if it was dressed up.
I can imagine my Inquisitor having to constantly reign him in... by his horns...

I guess people will complain about anything.

Okay, somebody needs to draw a male or female Dwarven Inquisitor jumping on top of the Iron Bull and leading him away from a tree that he's hitting on by actually riding him.
Bonus points if it's the Grand Oak.
(male for me because that's gonna be my first playthrough, but honestly doesn't matter)

If you don't believe me, The Celluloid Closet would be a good place to start.
The devs
What?! That annoying Cassandra should be lesbian, not the elven lady.
I would really like it if Cullen was the homosexual male. Just image the flames, the rage and the tears.... ![]()

Oh I believe you.
I still think you're complaining and in an annoying way at that.

I'm pretty sure Dorian is gay ...I mean they are characters and they are inspired by something , the way they look etc is not random at all.
I mean there's a bit of fabulous going on with Dorian , he 's named Dorian Pavus (= Peacock ) , the mustache , the haircut etc...
Maybe I'm wrong , but the way Bioware design their characters is not subtle .
I mean Cassandra is rigid but romantic :square jaw and hearts on the armor , etc...
I'm not saying it's a wrong design choice but ...well we'll see about Dorian.
Oh I believe you.

Pointing out something that could be problematic =/= complaining. Your problem. Not mine.

That would be something to see, though it'd come with some people who'd no doubt mod him because "He's not like that!" just so they could have him.
....and technically speaking, they wouldn't necessarily be wrong given that he had a thing for a female mage and is blushing about how he can't really talk to the ladies at the Blooming rose. Were it not for that, there'd be some unfortunate implications for any mod of trying to "fix" him.
Though at the same time, who knows. Maybe being tortured with images of the girl he loved kinda made him want to shy away from romancing a girl altogether? Or maybe shy away from romance itself?
For all we know he might go celibate/chaste and prioritize his duty to the Chantry.

I'm not saying it's impossible, just that we can't deduce it by looks alone. But there are a lot of straight guys that care a lot about their appearance and go off looking fancy.
Though yes, Bioware does lack subtlety. Depending on how Dorian's written, it could be a good lack of subtlety or a bad kind.
I can imagine my Inquisitor having to constantly reign him in... by his horns...
I see your point, and I raise you one more. 50 Shades of hypocrisy.
Super rich, super sexy, dominant sex fiend attracts innocent girl barely out of her teens with his mysterious past. But with the power of love they overcome it all and live happily ever after.
With his billions of dollars.
Good looks.
and billions of dollars.

Wow, some of the guys in this thread are an embarrassment to men everywhere. Thank heavens there are real male gamers out there, and not just sexist, entitled boys who throw a tantrum when they don't get they want.
Not here to throw my toys out of my pram cause I don't really care either way but...
Cassandra is ugly as sin, should be a Rugby player.
And as for the women who are getting twisted because people are referring to Cassandra's features as undesirable or mannish, namely because they feel they share the same features; you could have the same features but pull off the look completely differently, So stop substituting yourself for Cassandra please, thanks.
