Besides, I'm sure some of the pirates will eventually buy the game. I know I have to kick myself not to do it just to get it before thursday next week.

QFT

If i pirated a game, i would feel the need to buy an actual copy of it asap; 1st because it's not right to play it and not pay bioware back forit, and 2nd i would REALLY want a physical copy of it

....and also i want all that free DLC and Dr. Pepper content!

What level of "hell" is for internet pirates?

They will burn in a very special level of Hell. A level reserved for child molesters ... and people who talk at the theater.

You can't stop piracy. Well, yes you can, makes games 200 GB in size and limit internet connections to max of 50kb/s. It won't stop piracy, but will reduce it ot levels where it doesn't matter :P

Anyway, the two major groups of pirates are those who wouldn't have bought the game in the first place, and those who want it early or use it as a demo. The first group were non-customers to begin with, and majority of second will buy the game legitimately. So not too many sales are lost in the end.

I was watching the new trailer of mass effect 2 (launch trailer) and there was a pirate guy telling people to download the game free and shi*  bioware puts their time and money in making such great games as mass effect 2 and these cheap bastard all they do is download the game for free, how in the hell is that suppose to help the economy? I might have understanded if they at that moment didnt had or could make any kind of money but no they seem to enjoy it and dont care, according to the way they were saying it, its like "fu-- bioware we are getting it free"

so my real question is WHY did they make this game for pc? they CERTINELY dont deserve it at all! look what they doing now, mass producing that game for free, this guy said there is already 1700 people downloading tha torrent file thats a lot of money if u multiply that by 50.

1:it's was a *pirates* telling everyone? It's was most likely a bot . Those bot spam not really for the game itself but for their torrentsite.Let's me guess .. Youtube?

2:Helping the economy? So that the new cool word you learned from daddy mouth?Hell some of them might pay school tax so you can  take the mini bus ride each morning.Who know.

3:They make game for the pc .. Because  hmm .. They make money and it's a good platform that they know well?
Seriously are you just another 360 fanboy?

4:1700 people?This guy? Which guy?Maybe it's a Turians!!

5;We don't deserve it?Do you deserve it more?I don't understand . Please someone enlighten me.

Don't let the ugliness of the internet get to you. If you feel a game is worth your money, pay for it. And don't let anyone else tell you you're a fool for doing it. Remember that you're supporting the people who put their hard labor and creativity into making such a fantastic product.

The problem is that you proposing that the game not be made for PC is absolutely ludicrous. They would lose a LOT of money.

If it's any consolation:

- Many may simply want to start playing early.

- Many may be compensating for the lack of demo

Also, piracy is not PC only.

(Fun fact, some studies suggest that piracy has increased sales an titles that people like in music, at least. Reduces the risk factor in spending. So, the best form of piracy protection, then, is quality. Also, they don't get the Cerberus Network)

Is this topic supposed to be serious? I ask this now, because you don't seem to be a very coherent person. Personal experience doesn't mean anything.

It's less than the PC, sure, but we are still talking about tens of thousands of Xbox copies.

Pirating isnt as a big an issue as some people would have you believe. Good games often benefit from pirating as it's free and compelling advertisement. Bad companies often suffer hard because nobody wants to spend 50 euros on their crap.

Since all games cost the same, competition is based on quality. The quality of a game is based on personal experience. So it's hard to tell if a game is worth the money without having played it first. That's why downloading helps good devs get the spotlight. I think you would be suprised how many people are familiar with the ME franchise because they downloaded the first game.

In addition every downloader does not equal a lost customer. There's no guarentee they would have spend € 50 if it wasnt available via illegal download. Some people might just not have the money or feel the product doesnt warrant the price. So their downloading doesnt hurt sales, only feelings.

Don't you worry, those people who want to buy the game will buy it, those who don't want to will download for free. So at least Bioware will get more fans that way, and if they don't make the game for PC, who will play it? Most of games are made for PC, and most people play games on PC.

It just annoys me, when i buy pc games for like 300$ and then everyone judges us as pirates, and say we do not deserves games. I do apoligize because you changed your opinion, but in your first topic you was the one who was de respectful. BTW why am i pc fanboy? i want the game to come out for xbox AND pc, you says only xbox gamers deserve the game? About sales, mass effect 1 sold about 1 million units for pc.
And sorry if i was a little upset, i am too a little bit pissed off, because pirates are playing right now, and it just makes me so angry when someone blames all pc gamers, i hope you understand.

Aah, the hypocrisy in these words.

Have you actually read what you put in your first post?

Also, you only just found out now that there are pirates in the world that copy games *gasp*

Sorry I doubt that, you are obviously just a sad troll trying to stir up a PC vs console war again. Everyone should just not bother taking the bait and leave you to make even more a fool of yourself

Someone obviously leaked it over the internet like a tester or a hacker.

The 1337th of course

To the OP, I'm actually going to wind up buying the PC CE and 2 copies for the 360 (probably wind up selling or give the SE 360 version to a friend).  I definitely agree with the sentiment that people should buy what they play and support the companies that make the games they really love to the best of their ability.  However, your statement about PC users not deserving the game is completely ignorant considering that the 360 version was the first one cracked.

Without PC gamers, there would be no BioWare (and probably no XBox).

Two other reasons:
- Many just spend all their money on Dragon Age and a new rig and simply can't wait untill their next paycheck (or, budget problems. But since online content (CERBERUS NETWORK!) is not available, they will probably buy the game eventually)
- The game simply isn't avaible anywhere near them. The gaming store closest to me is 30 kilometers away, and there is never anything close to decent there. Thank god such things as steam exists, but it still is a problem for those people who do not have acredit card (I am 17 years old, so according to ESRB I am old enough to play the game, but I am not old enough to own a credit card or paypall... I have to ask my father everytime I buy something on steam). This happens a lot in case of those TV Shows, where people who do not live in the country of production have to wait years untill the new episodes air in their country.

But why are we summing up reasons on why people pirate stuff? It's a common problem, whether its Xbox, PC, or just movie or music.

(Weirdly enough, those movies who are pirated the most also sell the most, Case in point: The Dark Kinght)

For your misinformation, ME2 was first *leaked* on Xbox 360 a few days ago..
Anyways as Sovereign said, you're one of the "Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh. You touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding."
And now.. back to my waiting here in Europe for Mass Effect 2 Collector's Edition.. hoping not for delays!

...Wow, this is just stupid. With any game, pirates are a minority of the players. In truth, BioWare doesn't really lose money, they only lose a theoretical gain from cheap bastards that won't buy the game anyways. Now don't get me wrong, not all pirates are like that. Some pirates, myself included (in the past, of course), pirate games simply to try them out, and then purchase the games based on that experience.

PC gaming has always been a profitable investment, and always will be, due to the fact that PC hardware can be continually changed and updated. There may be 17000 leechers, but compared to the amount of actual purchasers, that's not much.

And plus, they don't get free DLC.
