I went through the whole thing with Lothrander (sp?) and he sent me to the Blushing Mermaid to get Marek.  I got there and was accosted by the Ogre.  After a few times of trying to fight my way in and dying, I convinced him to go check the picture again. I went in and tried talking to everyone there.  Marek's not one of them...on either floor.  I think I can use NearInfinity to put him there, but what can I do if I want to just stay within the game?  Is Marek there sometimes and not others? I don't want to play on until I have figured this out.  Help! Please...

When you go to the top floor, he's to the far left - he's not there? Have you talked to Lothander in the Blade and Stars? Marek won't be there until you do. And er, you need to have the Geas Removal scroll in your possession when talking to Lothander of course too. Otherwise, yea you will have to CLUAConsole Marek in.

Yup, he's upstairs but I don't know how the the sequencing.  

 

C_R details all the things I recall & in any quest like this, you generally have to do them in order to get 'em completed.  

 

Sometimes you can go back & check your journal...it might remind you of some dialogue where you we're pointed toward that next step to keep the quest on track.  

 

Haven't played BGII in a while since I keep dying in BGI but I've done this quest a few times & it always plays out. CKT

One mistake that I have made is not speaking to Lothander again after going into the tent to ask about getting a geas removal scroll.
