The really daft part with Eamon is that if he is worried that Cailan as yet has produced no heirs and it is so important to him to have a descendant of Callenhad on the throne, why on earth didn't he get Cailan to acknowledge Alistair as his brother and potential heir before he joined the Grey Wardens? Alistair was clearly not ambitious so would not have given problems to his brother over this. Even if he didn't want Alistair acknowledged openly for fear of assassination, Eamon could at least have brought him back under his care and insisted the good of Ferelden was more important than any objections Isolde might have. Now strangely enough Loghain says the reason Alistair wasn't acknowledged was because it would have been a threat to the status of Queen Rowan, Cailan's mother, which if true, in turn would have impacted on the status of Eamon at Court. So it would appear the imperative of preserving the bloodline was only top priority when it involved removing the influence of Loghain and his daughter.
Anyway whoever was infertile, Alistair will likely be as well because he is a Grey Warden, unless of course someone thinks to tell him about the cure for the taint that apparently allowed him to be conceived (if you believe that Fiona was in fact his mother and not some serving wench). Then again perhaps her son by Marric is still out there somewhere. May be finding him will be the plot or sub-plot of some future game.
But I seem to have got off topic on my own post. Thanks for all the answers by the way.
