Anyone know any good methods or recommendation on time managing with balancing a good revision and a satisfactory form of social life or perhaps replacing social life with a relationship instead?

I have too much planned and I have university starting again soon in August and I need to find a job as well.

Bash your head against a wall, repeat, that will fix it.

One hour divided by two for internet every day is more than enough.

Now go study 12 hours a day and spend 2 hours watch TV or play some crap.

Now you must be tired enough to sleep 9 hours.

This is the schedule of the winners.

Write stuff down in a journal, sticky note on your computer, make a spreadsheet, meditate, etc.  You won't find an answer suited to you because well, the only thing we can give you is our experiences through life and how we did it and when it comes down to it, it will always be different and there won't be one suitable answer, since life can change in an instant, so try to keep your focus on as much as today, as your future.

Revision? What is this revision of which you speak?

Also, to echo others, an ounce of planning about what you are going to do when is worth a lifetime. Be conservative with your estimations (NOT " I can research and write a whole paper in one night") and you'll find that you can meet all of your deadlines and still have lots of time to schedule for gaming.

The key is to NOT start gaming until you've gotten all your assignments done. It is far too easy to say "okay, I'll schedule two hours of studying, two hours of gaming, then spend the rest of the night writing the paper" and then game right through your paper writing time.

It's all about time management. Try this out: every time you start doing something, write down what it is and what time you started it. When you finish, write down the time. Do this for a whole week. Take a look at your patterns, and then you can figure out what you can cut out. All you need to do after that is follow through.

This is the way I see it.

Linear studying is not efficient for me. Working intelligent > Working hard.

Study Schedule

The strategy I used was to tell myself I need to study 2-4 hours of a subject in a day. I would then do this over time periods. These periods will be determined by the current concept or idea I am reading about. Now this leaves the times that you are not studying, I would then replace these times with different activities. Cleaning,games,programming,e.t.c The trick is to have self discipline and I found that spreading them out like this makes it less mundane.

Study Techniques

The trick here is to find out what type of leaner you are. How effectively do you learn things? This is the secret to understanding things. I was more of a visual leaner myself, I learn through drawing logical shapes that correspond to my idea. It helped me a lot in software development and system analysis because this field does contain a lot of logical diagrams. My learning is also based on abstract concepts and then going into how they would relate to a specific ideology. If I could understand an idea abstractly I would be able to apply it.

Make sure you test yourself to make sure you understand what you are talking about. Think about what you have read and ask questions based on the bigger picture.

Frequency

I would go from Monday to Saturday and then rest on Sunday. Rest is very important as you just don't want to burn through your books. You want to do this efficiently as possible.

Assignments and Exams

Start studying the first day of classes. You will be more than ready on the final then. If an assignment is given to you, start thinking about doing it as soon as possible.

Most Important

Talk to people about what you are doing. It helps a lot to listen to advice you do not have to take it but it is worth it

I will definitely echo this. Not only will other people give feedback, but going through your routines or what you've learned I a way that you can describe conversationally helps our brains "own" the knowledge involved. It's easy to adhere to a process or regurgitate information if you feel like you can describe it clearly and concisely in your own words.

I somewhat regret going to college, but that's another story.

Yes I am planning to start revising the day my class begins, but I also need to start looking for a job, I might skip on job and tutor English instead, always in demand. I want to have minimum 7 hours sleep, a 10 hour sleep night before exam. I have no forms of entertainment except mobile and laptop, I just go out with friends for entertainment. I won't revise every day, for example:

Monday: Receive topic to revise on, finish class 4, tutor English for two hours with a student so its now 6pm, revise after until 9pm and swim for one hour, up to 10pm. Come to my dorm, have shower, bed.

Tuesday: Finish class 4, tutor Eenglish for two hours so now 6pm, revise for 1 hour, now 7pm. Socialize after.

Wednesday: Finish class 3pm, tutor english for two hours, now 5pm. Swim for one hour, now 6pm, revise for 1 hour.

Thursday: Finish class 3pm, Tutor English or have break, so jump to 5pm. Revise for two hours. Socialize for rest of day.

Friday: Class starts 12pm so wake up at 7am, revise until 12pm, go class finish 1pm, tutor for two hours so 3pm, get drunk.

Sat/Sun: Girlfriend or if exam coming up, revise entire weekend.

I want to balance my job and university. I plan  minimum of 2 hours revision each day, as long as I can really and only crunch down on revision as an exam nears.

But the thing is, I want to have a social life as well. Social gatherings are very common, you wouldn't believe how many times we go karaoke, eat out or simply visit a market for the entire day or just get drunk. I also would not want to break up with my girlfriend either and plan to stay at her dorm for weekends and revise with her perhaps which I have done.

Class is normally 8-4, depending on the day but I have yet to get my time table. Some days I only have 4 hour at class or even 1, maybe cancelled because of our teacher.

So I would try and squeeze in some fitness as well, is fencing even a work out? I might just consider swimming for 1 hour. Work and revision is my main priority and concern. Student loan only covers half my finances, if I do well I can get scholarships for good attendance, behavior and grades as long as it is above a 2.5 or maybe 3. Around that bracket really and this needs to be consistent.

To sum up, maths is my degree really, just under different names like "physics" or "fluid dynamics".

Cleaning is not that hard. We don't have carpet here, too hot. Just tiles.

Cooking is not a problem, we just go out to eat, so many stalls outside and always ready to eat.

Social life is very important. Social life is important because it teaches you how to network which is one of the most important skills when you are in industry. During your career you might be required to go to conferences or speak to like minded people on the latest standards.

In terms of social life I would squeeze it in on the weekends.  There is also nothing that says you are not able to kill two birds with one stone. You could include your social life with your girlfriend.

Impressive degree,I like it a lot. I did a Bachelor Of Computer Science myself. Make sure you go for an internship so that you have a bit of experience before you start looking for a job. It is very important
