I never really thought into that hard, but I do see what your saying. But  I think bioware was just trying to make the place more pesonal to you, or make it feel like home. Everyone already thinks your dead so the fish tank kinda lets relax or feel normal. Also it gives you more to do on the ship than just looking on the galaxy map or talking up squad mates. And your telling me your not going to mess with the tank at all.

Yeah I'm going to mess with it since its already there. I might even get into it. But its still a fish tank in space. Why not have a keyboard cat.

Its not really a big deal, just, why not a weapon rack? Or a vid screen? Or an XBox 720? Or a pinball machine where the ball is made of element zero, or a singularity or something.

I thinks its an inside joke at BioWare.

Because it's a ship without an ocean! So you gotta bring the ocean to you.

The fish tank really is a symbol of all that's wrong with the game. A flavorless, meaningless, forgettable "option". Can be easily overlooked for all the SHOOTER ACTION. A game where you can dress up your Shepard in different casual clothing, a meaningless excersise that doesn't affect the game one bit, but can no longer give your squaddies better armor to make them more survivable.

These are what Bioware now calls "RPG elements".

Maybe you should wait until the game is out before you decide on an option. But I won't waste anymore words on you about this.

You see what I was getting at. I don't fore see it being a huge problem in ME2, but if this trend continues ME3 might be Spore for 360. Customization loses its 'thrill' when the thing being customized has no really use or purpose. That fish tank, and the collectible fish could have been another weapon. Or upgrade. Something I'd rather have.

We'll just have to wait and see.

It represents a matter of style. TIM is the boss, and he is a ruthless yet classy sort. Shepard's room is essentially decorated to TIM's tastes...You guys complain about these little details, but in truth its little things that make or break a game. Wait til you play to complain.
