Although I´m still waiting for delivery (and will wait for another week at best) I couldn´t resist but to see at least part of the game at my friends (guess where he got it from - not my problem anyway) and I couldn´t believe my ears when during the passage on Illum (or how is that called) there was a radio message talking about hanar protests against new film: "Blasto the Hanar". Now I´m sure that I will find shifty looking cow somewhere.

No, because Hannar very rarely if ever, use their name outside of close friends and family.

For Hannar, its always 'This one...'

Ahhh! Thank you so much for posting this! Image IPB Finally, some real information that people actually wanted to know. This is great.

...And I think I will be too busy trying to flush every single toilet in the Normandy to even be angry at it.
Can you turn on showers and sinks too? Waste water? Have EDI scold you for it? Image IPB

...now I'm getting a bit ahead of myself.

Nice review, Handheld! I do have a question, if it isn't too spoilerific. Concerning the customization, is there a lot, besides the hamster and fishies, such as attire, color-customizing armor parts, etc? If it's too spoilerific you can always PM me if it's not too much trouble about it.

Once again, great, spoiler-free review~

Handheld knows you cant customize your casual attire beyond just changing the outfit handheld also knows han solo shepard is a no no.

Did handheld get mass effect 2 through bad means? Done handheld did so?

I can do it too....

Handheld specifically stated that he does not own this particular copy and Handheld would not resort to piracy for a game that is 3 days away especially when Handhelds own save files are on a 360 and not a computer.

Handheld, when you come back from your missions to the normandy, do you start in your cabin or in the navigational area?

Also, how long does it take to get from one place on the normandy to another?

Handheld knows when you come back from a mission you normally start in the conference room but Handheld also believes you might sometimes start in the CIC area.

Handheld also wished to turn on every sink and shower so Handheld could make an intergalactic swimming pool but alas Handheld is only able to flush shepards personal toilet.

Handheld specifically said there is a psychologist on board but Handheld wont say who.

What details/impressions can you give about the new planet scanning system with the probes?

Is it as tedious and annoying as I've heard?

Handheld wouldnt say its tedious and annoying but its not fast paced like the rest of the game if you do it with patience you can find a ton of resources to upgrade things such as the ship or weapons or armor or space hamster......

You have 30 probes at your disposal from the beginning, and you can pick up more at Fuel Depots. If you're on the PC, hold down right click on the planet and drag your mouse around to rotate the scanner across the planet surface. You can rotate the scanner around the entire planet.

Is it tedious? A bit, but once you get used to it, you can scan an entire surface in less than a minute so its not that annoying. Once you see a large spike in the graph (which indicates large amounts of a specific mineral/metal), left click to fire a probe onto the surface. Once its fired, there will be a green marker so you know which areas you've already scanned.

You also have to use the probes before you can 'land' on a planet and start the N7 missions. You'll get a message saying 'Anomaly detected' - use the scanner till you can clearly hear the distress call, fire a probe and you'll then be allowed to 'land'.

Cool... since we're on the topic of upgrading, have you been able to upgrade any of the preorder/bonus armours or do they stay the same?

... or have you not got any of the preorder/bonus armours? :o

i too would like to offer thanks to Handheld. *bows to Handheld's greatness*

handheld wrote...

Handheld himself has been lucky enough
to play a copy of Mass effect 2 for the pc on Handhelds cohorts
computer. Handheld wished to give his impressions without giving any
spoilers so Handheld will speak of the visual changes and how the game
runs and other little things.

Handheld will start by saying
that Handhelds experience with it has been great so far Handheld has
only encountered one very small bug but it was not gamebreaking and
Handheld was able to correct this easily. Handheld himself decided to
start out by making a brand new shepard without importing Handheld must
say that as we all know the first games choices are chosen for you and
so far Handheld has not seen any way to change them.

Handheld
has been lucky enough to play through a small portion of the game and
Handheld must say that the combat feels excellent The only gripe
Handheld has is that when shepard walks he has a weird little gimp but
Handheld thinks most people will be running around anyways, Handhelds
friends cohorts computer is not completely built for gaming, but
Handhelds friends cohort was able to play mass effect perfectly much
the same is with the second version Handhelds running the game (at max
settings Handheld believes) and the game is running smooth and without
any sort of "Lag" as Handheld will say it.

Handheld was a bit
upset that there werent more options in the graphics changing
department such as no AA option but Handheld could just be missing
something.

Handheld Found he character customization to be
lacking, Handheld found that there werent many hair options for either
male or female and Handheld found no matter what he did his character
looked weird (Handheld probably thinks this is because Handheld
attempted to create duece bigalow intergalactic gigalow) Handheld
admits he was unimpressed here and wishes it could have been done a bit
better.

Handheld so far has found the voice acting be done very
well Mark meer has done a great job so far that Handheld himself can
tell and Miranda Lawson and Jacob have also been done very well.
Handheld himself especially liked the way the illusive man sounded
Handheld thinks the voice acting by martin Sheen adds a mysterious
undertone to the illusive man Handheld also found that he wanted to
keep asking him questions. (Handheld was very upset that there was no
way to recruit Helga the massage krogan. Thats a no no bioware Bad!!)

Handheld
found the enviroments to be nicely done if not super extraodinary
Handheld thinks that so far from what Handheld has played the
enviroments are done very well and so far have only added to Handhelds
good things list.

Handheld himself found the controls a bit
weird at first Handheld has found that the space bar key controls your
"storm" aka running at the same time it also controls going into cover
and also interacting with objects. Handheld found this a bit akward at
first but Handheld doesnt game to much on his cohorts computer so
Handheld thinks others will probably acclimate better than Handheld
himself.

Handhelds overall impression with the game so far that
Handheld has played has left Handheld feeling very good and Handheld
can say with confidence that Handhelds fellow forumites will not be
dissapointed.

Handheld also wishes to say the flushable toilets
will anger everyone and that joker has better dialog this time around
(from what Handheld has been able to speak to him about). Handheld also
says that the red veins are not as bad as many thought them to be they
arent there for very long and they only come along if you get very
careless.

Handheld would like to close this with Handheld cannot
wait to write his impressions of the xbox 360 version if Handhelds
fellow forumites wish him to and Handheld also cannot wait for all of
his fellow forumites to be able to experience the game as Handheld has.

Handheld
also wishes to have anyone who finds a spoiler in handhelds thread to
warn Handheld immediatly so Handheld may remove it.

EDIT: Handheld forgot to discuss the hacking and Decryption games.

Handheld
personally found these done very nicely although the Hacking one is a
bit confusing to Handheld as its sometimes hard to see the lines of
code and its very easy to mistake one that looks similar and waste a
chance, however Handheld found that it was very forgiving. Handheld
also thought the decryption was very nice you have a time limit so you
cant just sit there and look slowly you have to look quickly and be
accurate Handheld enjoyed the finding the matching shapes as Handheld
himself is a toddler (Handheld makes a funny HAHAHA).

Overall
handheld himself thinks that they are done nicely but the hacking is a
bit difficult at times but as Handheld said its very forgiving.

SUPER EDIT:

Handheld also thinks tali fans will not be let down Handheld must say excellent job Liz Sroka Many cookies to you.

Handheld did you get the best ending or is it really difficult to get? (PM me specifics if its hard or spoilery)

Edit: I just saw one of the sadder endings and T_T heartbreaking.

Missed a few pages, so if it hasn't been asked already. Can you only talk to your crew in the Normandy, like ME1? Another thing that bugged me was, during combat in ME1 and you hold down 'A' to storm, if you happen to be sprinting past a teamate they would scream 'Not in the middle of a fight!!!', which used to ****** me of as well - any changes?

I'm going to be a bit overly moderatory and shut this thread down as a spoiler. Talking about your impression of the game at this point is still a spoiler, lets keep it to speculation. Honestly if you have the game you should be very careful about what you post here for now.
