Have you got your ME1 game registered to your profile? I think I remember something like that you cant start writing on a specific area if you havent got that game linked to your profile.

This is correct. You need to register your copy through Origin in order to post in the forums for that respective series.
What is your question on the story?

I'll post it on the ME1 section, so I can keep all responses, opinions and others' interpretations organised, under 1 thread, or 'topic'.
It's more of me desiring an understanding of the whole story, and my somewhat not thorough understanding/interpretation.

Okay so I may or may not have torrented ME1 and can't add it to my games list >_>
Specifically, the most on which I don't understand was what Vigil said on Ilos, regarding the reapers, the proetheans, the mass relay technology in relation to Citidel, the Conduit (and Saren's use for it), the proethian scientists objectives/activities, the beacons and the citidel workers (forgot their names)

In the last cycle, the Protheans were working to duplicate the Mass Relay technology. This project was so secret and unknown, there existed no record of the work anywhere. When the Reapers arrived, they took the Protheans completely surprised. However, since no record of the facility on Ilos existed, they were able to avoid being killed.
However, they knew that they had no chance of fighting the Reapers. So they put the entire team in cryo sleep for hundreds of years, to wait out the Reapers. Vigil was put in charge of the facility and monitored the Reapers progress of wiping the galaxy clean. The process lasted so long that Vigil had to turn off the life support of everyone except the most important scientists. Upon the Reapers leaving to go back into hibernation, Vigil woke the scientists up.
Upon waking up, the scientists decided to use their prototype at Mass Relay to go to the Citadel and prevent the Reapers from ever being able to return. They modified the Keepers to no longer respond to the Reaper signal, allowing the next cycle to not be ambushed. The scientists died, however, and no one knew of their work and sacrifice until Shephard shows up.
Sovereign, the Reaper ship left behind to signal when the Reaper fleet was to return, tried to activate the normal signal for the Keepers, but was unsuccessful. So he used his agents, namely Saren, to get into the Citadel. However, Saren could not easily sneak in without raising too many alarms. So he found out about the facility on Ilos through an ancient Prothean beacon and tried to find it to sneak himself and a small army of Geth to help him take over and let Soveriegn enter the citadel.
That help?

Thanks for your response. It has helped me understand the story a lot better and I appreciate it. I still have some questions.
Why were the Proetheans working on this mass relay technology?
Was the conduit only needed now, that the Proethean scientists interfered with the Keepers, not letting the Proetheans into Citidel, or was the conduit always used? If so, this means the Proethean scientists were somewhat successful?
Why did Saren join the Proetheans?
What exactly was the conduit?
Do we know why the reapers are doing this? (If so but it's in ME2 or ME3, don't tell me, but if it hasn't still been clarified, feel free)

From what you know in ME1, they just wanted to. You find out a little more in ME3, that they were always looking at expanding out their galactic empire through conquest, but, essentially, they just wanted to.Thanks for your response. It has helped me understand the story a lot better and I appreciate it. I still have some questions.
Why were the Proetheans working on this mass relay technology?
The Prothean scientists were DEFINITELY successful. It was completed by the Protheans either shortly before or some time after the Reaper invasion. They are the only known civilization to replicate the Mass Relays the Reapers built. Was the conduit only needed now, that the Proethean scientists interfered with the Keepers, not letting the Proetheans into Citidel, or was the conduit always used? If so, this means the Proethean scientists were somewhat successful?
This is discussed more in the books (which I haven't read), but upon discovering Soveriegn, Saren essentially realized that civilization was going to lose. He saw how powerful Soveriegn was and knew that a fleet of such ships could decimate all life. Sovereign convinced him that if organic life surrendered instead of fighting back, it would prevent billions (if not trillions) from being slaughtered and that they could live, even if they would live as slaves. This is, for the record, not what the Reapers would have done. Why did Saren join the Proetheans?
The Condut was a small scale, prototype Mass Relay. Where full scale Mass Relays could transport entire fleets across the galaxy, the Conduit could barely fit the Mako. It only worked one way and probably had other limitations, but it was still a huge achievement for the Protheans to reverse engineer their own Mass Relay. What exactly was the conduit?
It essentially acted as a back door for Saren and the Geth forces to enter the Citadel without going through the Galactic Fleet first.
Heh. You find out the answer, the REAL answer, within the last ten minutes of Mass Effect 3. Spoiler alert - there are millions (yes, literally millions) of fans who have poked holes and talked about how non-sensical this explanation actually was.Do we know why the reapers are doing this? (If so but it's in ME2 or ME3, don't tell me, but if it hasn't still been clarified, feel free)

Back to the subject of the original poster.
I bought ME3 from Origin and don't remember registering (perhaps that was automatic). For about 9 months I've played the ME trilogy until my "discovery" curve totally FLATENED OUT.
Now I've purchased Dragon Age Origins from that -- you know -- other "evil empire" known as as Steam. I'd rather avail myself of the Origin forums because they have the IGNORE FEATURE which forces [most of] the crass juveniles to migrate to the Steam forums.
Problem is -- I get the message "you can't post on this forum" when it comes to Dragon Age Origins. Some research says to "register your game" or "link your registered game to the Origin forum".
Please tell me how to register, link, or offer blood sacrifices -- for a Steam game to Origin so I can avail myself of the fine forums here.
Thanks for your thoughts.
