Your friends will die.
Your mabari will be skinned alive.

I'm sure we'll get tons of dark moments since DAO and DA2 are full of 'em.
I love darker tones in stories, but forcing certain scenes in order to justify the 'mature' label gives me the opposite vibe. That said, I do hope for more situations where losing a major character is unavoidable. It always felt wrong to me that ME2 had a Suicide Mission that was relatively easy to avoid any fatalities. If a situation is outlined as incredibly dire, then I think being able to come out unscathed lessens the impact. I like how ME3 had a mixture of avoidable and inevitable losses.

AVGN?
When did we stab a woman pregnant with our child?
I think the notion stems from the Witch Hunt DLC, where it is possible to stab Morrigan, who you might have gotten pregnant from either romance or Dark Ritual sex.
Personally, I don't think that's the case. We don't know when exactly Witch Hunt takes place, but given that the events of Origins was during 9:30-9:31
Dragon Age and the Warden disappeared around 9:40 Dragon Age, it's likely that Morrigan had long since given birth, especially since the Warden's disappearance might have involved travelling through the Eluvian with Morrigan.
just bring the Children back, Cy suggests
Somewhere between puppy dog stabbing dark and sauron's playhouse dark.
Maybe around the fears a wise man has and some song about ice and fire.
The inquisitors mother is going to be turned into the loch ness monster this time,

DA2's zombie mom wasn't particularly dark. All it did was get me angry and on subsequent playthroughs it be came cringe-worthy. I want pimp-smacking Isolde and coup de grace'ing Abomi-Connor type dark.

And demand 3 sovereigns and 50 silver?
So you want to say fight for your happy ending per say? If you fight hard enough and do the extra harder things you can avoid them? I can live with that, so long as they make them tough to pull off. They don't call it the High road for nothing.
Earn You Happy Ending is my favorite trope. There always need to be win conditions, even if those conditions are incredibly hard to meet

Indeed. I like having the option as well especially if you are the Paragon type trying to do the most good possible.
Well she is a rogue. That is sort of their thing. I wouldn't call it Dark. Of course with context it can be rather dark.
"That guy" was called Felix I think, and the guy next to him was his father. Apparently Felix died before this, and his father was raising him with necromancy because he couldn't let him go. Major depression. Then, Leliana slits his throat right in front of him and he goes mad, and attacks them, probably knowing he would die and he was okay with it because he had nothing to live for since his work failed and Felix was gone.
Is that dark!? xD

Indeed. I for one am getting sick of the True Art is Angsty trend.
I want non-fantasy dark themes. No scary monsters or abominations with 15 heads.
Maybe side quests about serial killers, serial rapists, human trafficking, conspiracy within an arling, cult terrorizing a small town, Problems that actually happen in real life (although the cult thing may be leaning towards fantasy)
There's too much focus on magic and monsters that it almost seems like the people of Thedas forget that they still have regular, non-magical crimes (besides thievery and smuggling)
In case you haven't been paying attention, the sky has ripped open and started pouring out demons. Expecting otherwise means you're looking at the wrong game.

I know it's just a matter of personal preference, so please take the following violent distaste for the idea in that context.
No. I loathe all these thrillers, cop shows, crime stories, police procedurals etc, and you cannot escape the bloody things these days. They infest every corner of every media breeding like cockroaches and with about the same appeal. I would happily take a flamethrower to the lot of them. Can we not apply the cookie cutter yet again to some poor, unsuspecting piece of fiction. It's not really the end of the world if there's one work that isn't contaminated with this garbage.
And breathe.

Been playing Watch Dogs by any chance?
Put spoiler tags on. I don't want to get spoiled on shows I'm currently watching. People might not be expecting to see this here. It is bloody annoying. The politicking will make the Red Wedding look like a kindergarten birthday party in comparison; things will happen to our characters that would make Ramsay Snow and Joffrey Baratheon say "That's a bit much" and the gore will be on par with Oberyn's death.
Or, at least, that's what I wish would happen.

Oh, right. Thanks.
And of course she has given birth at that point. She says the baby is a boy, that he is well but beyond the reach of the Warden.

Took words out my mouth JB
You can kill me.
You can kill my family.
You can kill my friends.
But you touch my Mabari, That's it this means War
fixed to be more in line with that codex entry from DA:O on the culture of Fereldan, "If you insult their dogs they are likely to declare war"
Not very dark. LOTR dark, I guess.

This dark.
You will die.
Your family will die.
Your friends will die.
Your mabari will be skinned alive.
I'm totally cool with the first three, but the mabari getting skinned alive is just too much man.
