would prefer to get a xone before it comes and get inquisition for that, but money is a little short right now, so I will probably just save my money and get for pc instead.
Anyone getting ps4 for this?

I got my PS4 in March and pre-ordered a deluxe edition of DAI for it. I wanted to go next gen for DAI and switched from Xbox 360 to PS4. So far I love it and am very happy with my decision.

It's one of a number of games I went with PS4 for, and it's the first game I've bought for it via po, but it's not the reason I chose the system. That's Infamous, Uncharted (Naughty Dog in general), jrpgs, the lower initial price point, and most particularly whatever Quantic Dream's next game is. DA:I did speed up the time table slightly. It's also the first time I'll play BioWare on PS. I'm not that big on shooters, which is what I mostly saw X1 pushing, so hopefully I'll get X1 a few years from now and pick up D4 and Quantum Break then. Hopefully if there's anything like Catherine (really amazing, unique game) before long, it'll also be on PS this time.
I gave up on aaa PC gaming like a decade ago, so I hope things like Total War, B&W, more adventure games etc. will drift onto console more eventually. Tropico did a good job of it this generation. Hope, because there're a lot of PC type games I wish I could afford to still play. And hopefully they'll open up modding avenues for console. I think the mp trend and mainstream community aspect are weirdly the biggest reason it's still so restricted, even more than cracking concerns.

I'm really considering pre-ordering the deluxe edition for both PS3 and PS4 and then waiting a few years to pick up the PS4. I really want to have Bog Unicorn & the Flames of the Inquisition. I'm definitely picking up a PS4 eventually, for Infamous Second Son, Witcher 3, & Mass Effect 4. I'm just trying to justify to myself spending 160 dollars for a game on 2 systems now, one of which I won't have for a few years. Is it worth it… what if I don't purchase Mark of the Assassin DLC and cut back on caffeinated beverages each week? I just don't know. Pre-order bonuses don't expire if you don't redeem them do they? Like if I just held on to a pre-ordered PS4 game I could just wait till later to get the system and still redeem the bonuses then, right?

If the game does well , there will be another version with all the DLC at a later date. Pre-order bonuses have an expiry date, but may still work after it. It's highly likely the DLC will show up for sale and the overall price will be the same.
As long as the codes are valid you can do that. But it will probably cost you more.

Thanks, a lot! If that's the case (expiry dates on bonuses, later GOTY editions possibly having bog unicorns, & such) it may be better to wait and only get PS3 edition, for now, huh? Also, that way I can drink more caffeinated beverages ![]()

If I wanted the game day 1 and money was tight I'd probably do that. If DA:I goes the way of DA2, then there won't be a GOTY or DLC included version.
If you plan to play it within 2 years you should be good as far as codes go.

A Total war game on a PS4 CPU? No. Not in a million years. Also, modding, at least in the same manner you can mod PC games will never come to consoles. They are closed in, walled gardens. You need an open platform for mods to take off.
Why not invest in both systems if PC games are something you enjoy?

Yeah probably. The pre-order bonuses, really store specific things and all, may or may not show up again, but they usually expire in 2-6 weeks anyway. The good news is that some games have had some cross gen perks, like AC4. So maybe you'll be able to transfer licences for those things if you upgrade later. I haven't seen any info about it yet though. A lot of licences transfer to PS4 though, particularly for things on the PSN store. Hope at least.

I just can't afford to keep up with it, unfortunately. In terms of the attention required, even. The last two PCs and laptop I got were basically obsolete when I got them, and I can't keep up with replacing the guts every few months or afford bleeding edge stuff that might last a few years. Consoles I can make one purchase at a discount compared to PC, and I'm set for five or ten years.
I'm pretty sure PS4 could handle Total War, doubt it'd be a direct import or like. It could be built for it though. It can handle thousands of characters now apparently in decent detail, and we know it can handle deformation and particle effects at high volume and all that. I think the challenge if you really wanted to do it is in the controls and UI, yeah, but I know how I'd design that. You'd have to design around the idea of preset groups by unit type, with hotkeys for user defined sets that'd basically work like assigning powers in DA or ME. Then it comes down to smooth navigation around the map. You could incorporate something like an aim and jump system for consoles, almost like shooting with aim-assist to different points on the map or targeted units for direct control. It'd work really intuitively I think.
Mods I just hope things open up a bit. They could allow replacing specific files under certain guidelines without exposing the core I think. I have some hope because the spirit is there with things like LBP. It's just kind of boxed into developer assets only.

I got my PS4 a while back, but knowing Dragon Age Inquisition would be on the system was a large part of the appeal for getting the system. Though there was also other games like Kingdom Hearts 3 that was forcing my hand on the upgrade issue.

That's a bit silly, isn't it? If you bought a PC that performs like a PS4 today,f or like $550 -$600, what on earth makes you think you'd need to upgrade "every few months"? Do PC's lose transistors or GPU cores on a daily basis? Does a PS4 grow them magically?
You might WANT to upgrade every couple of years to make games look and run better than on a PS4, but you won't HAVE to do so. There's a big difference. I really, truly hate this meme that console gamers appear to hold up as some sort of gospel truth. PC gamers, for the most part, do not upgrade because they have to, they do so because in 3 years PC games will look and run MUCH better than anything on a PS4, and many of us want that better experience.
The PS4's CPU's is sub par. Please show me the PS4 game where thousands of characters are running animations, AI and pathfinding. Would love to see it.

Destiny is probably the only game that had me interested in a PS4 - was even thinking of how I could sell it to the wife, considering I already have a high end PC AND an Xbone... But then it looks like Bungie and Activision are in discussions about bringing the game to PC. So I'll happily wait, too many games on PC as it stands anyway.

I'll be playing DAI on the PC.
(since I know NOTHING about pc hardware...wondering if I will need to get a new laptop)
Was planning on ordering a PS4 this weekend 'for the hubs for father's day' so I can get Destiny.....but stuff happened, out of town for 4 days....so didn't order as planned. Was going to do it today but then I saw this (glad! ordering was my next online stop after checking in here):

Wait......Destiny being brought to PC? Oooooohhhhhh! Hopefully! Then I may forgo the PS4, get DAI for the hubs on PS3, and then possibly get a new
laptop depending on if mine can handle it......he doesn't game much anymore, so he'd be fine with DAI on PS3.....all the consoles and laptop are used by me.

Other than cost of the console dropping, Why wait a few years for the PS4?
Well, the price will go down & more games will be available. I got my PS3 fairly late, only about 2-3 years ago. Then I got a replacement last year after my old one went kaput. I figure there's some more play value to squeeze out of it, yet. I haven't even started playing the Bioshock series or Fallout: New Vegas, yet.
If I wanted the game day 1 and money was tight I'd probably do that. If DA:I goes the way of DA2, then there won't be a GOTY or DLC included version.

Not really that money's tight, but I'd prefer not to spend too frivolously. You know, save some for nights out with buddies and whatnot. If the pre-order DLC expires in 2 years and I don't get around to getting a PS4 until 3 years (never know), it would seem sorta pointless. I might just bank on a GOTY edition, and if it doesn't get one, maybe it isn't the super fantastic game I think it is & PS3 version will be enough for me
As you said, maybe they'll release the bog unicorn for sale later (mounts DLC pack?), though, part of me thinks they'll just keep it pre-order/GOTY edition exclusive. I think I've decided to just stick with PS3 version for now. Thanks for the advice and insight.

We got this beauty:

Of course my husband wont let me touch it- not that there's any good female protagonist games out yet anyway.
But it's going to be a thing for DAI.
