What is this magical "Chart" that you speak of.
Is it really a thing?
Yes, David talked about it and said he might even show it to us one day.

Other things are actually far better.
I don't really wish to argue, anymore. I'll use my time how I like. If I want to use my procrastination time between studying microbiology making wild guesses about romance options in an upcoming fantasy RPG game, then by Andraste's flaming pantaloons, that's what I'll do.

David Gaider mentioned it. Apparently, they charted out all the possible romance options over at Bioware
, but he said that even if he wanted to it wasn't within his power to give it to us, yet.
^^Thanks.
I would love a nice, clear chart before release.

Yeah, it's up to the marketing people. We have our targets.

For all you know, Racial restrictions could simply be flirts. Why bother guessing stuff that might not mean anything in the long run.

Long story short: boredom.
We're the type of people who will chat about a game and its elements years before the game comes out.
What sort of behavior are you expecting?
I am expecting people to be at least reasonable. use what you know instead of posting random pieces of garbage and treating them like predictions or guesses.

Well... they have all but said that there are "gender or race gating"... Gaider's own words. People are just using logic to suss out the characters that would make the most sense to be race gated.

Well they are not doing a good job picking Sera. She is already gender-locked her as a lesbian, so It would be just plain insulting to race-restrict her as well to elves, as not everyone will play elves just to romance her.
People like the bull, Solas, Vivienne and Varric have more of a reason for race-restriction than anyone else.

Bioware has not always made the logical decision with their romances in the past. If you would have asked me if they made a game with 21 romances, is there any possibility that they would all be heterosexual, I would have said no way. However, SWTOR exists and it's just plain insulting that they made that decision. It's not outside of the realm of possibility for Sera to be race gated (although I tend to agree with you that she won't be). Many people also predict that Varric that might be a dwarf only or, even more specifically, a dwarf female only romance, after all.

Yeah, I have no idea where people are getting the idea that Sera will be elf only.
Of the two elves, I would see Solas as elf only before Sera... but maybe that is because we know that she deals with the FORJ and that makes her a city elf.

I highly doubt they would alienate an entire fanbase (Sera has over a hundred pages and quite the dedicated fan base) just to make her elf only.

You do realize that the Sera thread was only started a few months ago and that they made their decisions about character sexuality and romance flags at least a year, if not two years, ago, right? Sera's popularity will have no effect on her availability as an LI.

More than likely, there are people out there who will not play Inquisition if they cannot romance a character they want they way they want.

I don't see anyone like that following the game's development that closely.

That's on the individual player. If a player decides that Sera being unavailable to them is enough of a deal breaker then they have two options: a.) roll a character that can access Sera; or b.) don't play the game.
Bioware went the route of making all of the LI's available to every player in the last game. While I personally prefer that approach, many people complained. This time around, they had the time and resources to make gender and race-gated romances. People are still complaining.
But no one cares about those people.
BioWare has said they put thought in making their games for women and sexual minorities. Not 'people whose only interest in the game is having sex with a specific character.'
But what about those kinds of people who do not want to make a specific race to romance their favorite character to express themselves?
By the time the fandom has enough info to really get a following going, it is probably already too late for the devs to do anything about the writing or the romances.
They can't just go... oh snap! They think she is cute. Fudge, we better get the writers to change the script. Quick get the 3d modellers in here to reshoot romance scenes. Oh... and try and get her VA on the phone, we need to record some lines!
Not how it works, ser.
If Mae was "conceived too late to make it into Inqusition" TWO YEARS before the game came out, I don't think a fan gathering on the forums is going to make a difference.

They are no different than the people who don't want to roll a different gender. Those people just have to deal with it. Again, it's not my preferred approach, but it's been that way for gender in every single Bioware game except for DA 2.

I know that is not how it works, and I was not saying that. I was saying that simply saying that someone like Sera, who is already gender-gated, being race-gated, is just weird and makes no sense.

They should try expanding their horizons a little. The game is much more fun if you leave it open to experimentation and not just play your self insert every time.
If someone really wants to experience a character's romance, they will do whatever it takes to do it. Just like I rolled a Broshep to romance Jack and Miranda. They can roll a lady quizzy and smooch their elf. If they're not willing to do what it takes, they don't love her enough anyways

*facepalm* I am not talking about gender. There is simply nothing to even suggest that they are race-gating any particular companion, so suggesting ANYONE will, without a doubt, be racially restricted, especially someone who is already restricted, is dumb.
