Pretty much the difference between the upset straight males and LGBT people is the element of entitlement. Gay people didn't feel exclusively entitled to Sera romantically, but straight men did, and that's why they were/are so vocally upset. They feel like they lost something when in reality they didn't lose anything, they just feel entitled to every attractive female member of their party.

Of course they have a right to complain. That doesn't make them any less whiny and entitled.
If Cassandra is straight, LGBQ+ people who were hoping for her being bi will probably be disappointed, but will not have the same thought processes and motivations behind their reactions as straight guys. This is just going off how I personally would react, and what I know about my own community, but obviously no one has been confirmed as straight yet, so there's no way to be sure of anything.
Okay, give me an example of these thought processes?

"I want to romance this character I know nothing about, because she's pretty. I am angry, because she is a lesbian, and that ability has been stolen from me." Listen to how they speak of it- it's robbery, to not get to be with her- it's unfair, a trick. That is the thought process. Those who are merely disappointed have moved on, or are going to wait for a mod.

What do years have to do with sexuality?
You may still be figuring things out. Goodness knows it took me years for me to click that I'm gay, and before then I may have been that awkward teenage boy with several girls.
Of course they have a right to complain. That doesn't make them any less whiny and entitled.

I won't deny I didn't feel schadenfreude about the whole Sera thing, because it means that finally they can get a glimpse at what it's like, but it's this weird gloating thing where I disagree. It doesn't paint us in a good light. It's like gloating to a newly minted adult about how difficult life is.
Back on topic.
As much as I'd love for Cullen and Cassandra to be bisexual, it probably won't happen. Oh well, judging by the community's deductions, at least I'll have Dorian.

Regarding schadenfreude:
I'm not a huge fan of it because I think it escalates. But I think it's still important to understand it, as well as what causes it. It's a direct consequence of how people were treated in the past. That is, if people hadn't been jerks to them in the past, it wouldn't come around full circle. As such, I consider it more in line with someone responding in a hostile manner to being attack: I tend to be more lenient and look to remove posts rather than outright moderate unless it becomes a recurring problem.
So while I encourage people NOT to poke fun under any circumstances due to escalation, I do think that people saying "it's the same thing" are failing to appreciate the context. From the way I see it, one is "I'm telling you to shut up and deal with it because that's the way the world is" while the other is "I'm telling you to shut up and deal with it because those are the same hurtful things you said to me and I want to illustrate how unpleasant it is to be told that."
So it's a serious issue due to escalation, but as a guy that literally once held the opinion "Women should be okay with 1 romance because they don't play as much" (2000, Baldur's Gate 2 romance discussion, from a 19 year old that was still dumb yet grossly overestimating his understanding of the world) I can appreciate that there's a non-zero amount of responsibility on my part for cultivating responses like these.
In any case, lets shift away from this tangent now.

The dudebros have just as much right to complain as the LGBT do. Whats gonna happen if cassandra is announced as straight? A lot of those people gloating about sera being s/s will be whinging like the dudebros are with sera.
Everyone has the right to complain about something, but I guess the difference lies in the fact that one group is typically marginalized and gets the short end of the stick in terms of representation. I admit to being a little surprised when Sera was announced as a same-sex companion, because I can't remember that ever happening with an actual follower in these games (if someone can name another to correct me then please do so). The closest they've ever come in recent memory was Traynor and Cortez, but they were minor players since their content was largely restricted to the home base (of course Cortez benefiting from being the shuttle pilot). While gloating about this sort of thing really does not set the best tone regardless of who's doing it, and I would not really encourage anyone to do it, there's something particularly sourer about a group that typically gets what it wants doing the same thing.
I will say this. If Cass turns out to be straight, that makes things easier for my F!quisitor. ![]()

Honestly I'm surprised how many people seem to think he and Blackwall wont be romances. They seem like they will to me.

Juhani is one, but it was nebulous enough (and I think buggy enough) that people like me were able to deny its existence. (because to me I was dumb and figured that lesbianism was just being used as another form of male titillation - I had serious issues about it because I was often teased for being indifferent towards lesbian sex acts)

It makes for good humorous banter, but I dunno if they really want to pursue the objectophila thing. I really wish that whole backstory would make it into the game though. How drunk does he have to be to spill the beans?

I'm not so sure about either. I feel like Iron Bull and Solas and Dorian are more likely to be the other male LIs, tbh. I really want Blackwall to be one, though. All the Aimo fanart made me want him.

He's a dwarf. so I'd say on the Oghren end of the scale.

Blackwall is going to be like Thane. I don't see any reason why they would put so many taint details on him and then not use that as a plot. Seems like a waste of effort.
Some pople like the whole tragic romance thing, some don't. If there are limits, then Blackwall would seem to be quite low down the list compared to the others.

I'd really like for them not to be. Varric, in the ~7 year span of DAII took ages to reveal Bianca's story, and suddenly, with this completely new character he opens up in a matter of weeks? (Unless of course, something forces his hand)

I'm not really getting a romance vibe from Solas, but that's just from looking at him, don't know anything about his character.

I'm just going off of Bioware's track record. We've gotten two male elves (more if you count Cammen and all the prostitutes) and no grizzly older men. I hope I'm wrong and that they break the pattern this time around, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Then for me that just indicates they would probably try to switch it up this time.
Male elves never do much for me, I like my men to be beefcake, so Ironbull and Blackwall would be my preference for a second playthrough, lol.

For me, Silk Fox was BioWare's first same-sex romance for women.
It's kinda unfair given I know some people at BioWare really had to push to get this conversation in but I could never trigger it.

I hope so. I like both, but I want some variety. The closest we've gotten to a grizzly beefcake is Alistair, and he isn't very grizzly at all.
If they gave us the option to romance Iron Bull, Blackwall, and Varric, I think my head would explode. Make it happen, Bioware! (please)

I didn't really want to get into this again, but okay.
Time has a lot to do with sexuality. It evolves over time, just like people's ideas and views and beliefs change over time. Five years ago, I didn't think I was bisexual. I had crushes on girls. Those crushes on girls didn't make me any less into men. Cassandra's possible infatuation with a man almost two decades before we meet her doesn't mean that she is only into men. She could have only had crushes on men back then, but over time discovered that she liked the tuna taco just as much. In the ten years since Origins, Cullen could have discovered that he has feelings for other guys. Things happen in large numbers of years.
So there is hope for Sera fans after all? Great!

The only one I could see myself going after is Dorian (unless Cullen shapes up), and I'm 99% sure he won't be straight.
...My certainty may be the product of blind lust.
