I have had this happen a couple times, while at the same time dismissing that my bisexuality was even a real thing.  When I insisted I am, in fact, "a real bisexual person," and am resistant to the idea of being "converted," then it's clearly a sign that I'm not bi but actually gay.

I had someone tell me once.  "See, being bi is just a phase.  If you marry a man, then you're straight.  If you marry a woman, then you're a lesbian.  You can't be both, you're just confused."

This has happened to an Asexual friend of mine as well, and also a lesbian friend. I have always wondered why some guys think that their Dc is so great it can change someone...

It isn't just guys though...

I'm sorry, I have to disagree with that list. Iron Bull and Solas will be LI's before Varric is.

Asexuals face some pretty nasty prejudice, even if it is well-meaning. Most people assume they were abused or traumatised in some way. Gee, thanks for assuming there is something wrong with me. People have a hard time accepting sexual attraction to the same sex, but no sexual attraction at all? Woo, run for cover!

One thing that annoys me is the perception that bisexuals can't be faithful, or that if they form a steady relationship with either gender they are somehow not bisexual anymore because they "chose". I even heard someone say that it's not right to identify as bisexual if you have a steady partner because it's "unfair to them". Dafuq?

Let's not even get into homoromantic asexuality. I've seen people's brains leak out of their noses at that one.

Well, I can throw that bolded phrase onto the list of "Dumb Crap Some People Say to Bisexuals."   <_<

If you don't mind me asking, what's the logic behind that?

Oh and as far as asexuality, I try not to assume anything about it.  I have been reading and trying to learn more about it though.   :)

Clearly it's unfair because the chances of you lusting after someone other than them is multiplied by however many factors of other genders you like!

You do realise it's not me who said that? Somebody said that to me. I was complaining about people being stupid, not being stupid myself (I hope.)

I know exactly what your talking about with the predjiduce against A-Sexuals, I deal with it on a regular basis. think maybe some people equate being bi-sexual as liking two people, so when a bi-sexual chooses they automatically think that they are gay/straight now.

I had someone tell me once.  "See, being bi is just a phase.  If you marry a man, then you're straight.  If you marry a woman, then you're a lesbian.  You can't be both, you're just confused."

Ahh point taken, yes.. that is true too. I just have not encountered it as often..

No no, I wasn't saying you said that.  I'm so sorry if you misunderstood me!

I figured that was something that was said to you.  I was wondering what their logic (if any given) was to for saying it was "unfair."

No harm done. I was just thrown by you asking me to explain their logic. I guess people are just insecure about being cheated on and if you're bi you have twice the opportunity? That would be my guess.

I know this feeling well, my ex GF who ended up being my longest relationship was extremely paranoid that id cheat or that id leave for the 1st guy i found attractive, took months to get her over that. I always find it sad that ive had more mistrust & hate from fellow LGBT people then homophobic straight people :(

Same, but that makes me thankful for the LGBT community on the forums.  For the most part, they don't treat us with crap and with disrespect.  :)

"Not All Men!"

I had someone tell me once.  "See, being bi is just a phase.  If you marry a man, then you're straight.  If you marry a woman, then you're a lesbian.  You can't be both, you're just confused."

You're just confused.  It's just a phase.  If you marry someone opposite sex, you're straight/If you marry someone same-sex, you're gay.  The list, I could go on for quite a while.  I empathize, and sympathize.  I've been there and back again too.

Things that make me even more grateful to have Dragon Age and Thedas for what they are, where I don't need to encounter these kind of stereotypes and harmful misconceptions.

Not sure if this is what I think it will be or what I want it to be xD

This is IF the character is LI what I would think they could be romanced with  :P

Cullen: Straight (All races or minus dwarf)

The Iron Bull: Bi (Qunari/Human/elf) I think the race restriction is because of how different models they are and just imagine a dwarf and qunari XD
Solas: .. ... I DON'T KNOW T_T
Dorian: Bi (all races) <----- wishful thinking AT IT'S BEST

Varric: Straight (Dwarf female only)

Blackwall: no romance (?) It feels like he wouldn't want to start a romance because he feels his end is near or something (IF ROMANCE, straight, all races)

Cole: no romance (IF romance then BI I guess.) I don't remember the book telling his sexual orientation

Cassandra: Bi (All races?) Well Cassandra is a romantic at heart so~ Here's to hope!
Vivienne : Straight (all races)
Scribbles: Straight (all except dwarf) for some reason
Sera (Lesbian, all races) better work with Qunari female!

Leliana: No romance

A lot of romance options would be great. I'd say all female are romanceable to some degree except Leliana of course. Then I guess because there are more male that would make two non-romanceable guys (three if you count Varric only liking female dwarfs)

It feels like humans should be OK with all races but we never know if some characters have past with that race or something

Mmh, the potential for love triangles is going to be sorely limited in this game. Pity, that always makes for entertaining banter. :D

Oh, and Varric is Bianca-sexual. Romance is impossible.

He has a very traditional gay male look, too, with that mustache. It's old-fashioned, but it's a distinct look belonging to a distinct community and period in time.

I don't want him to be the m/m LI because I'm not into him, but to be honest, a ton of guys seem to dig him, and I don't want to deny them their favorite LI, so for that reason I'd be totally okay with him being m/m only.

So long as my inquisitor gets Cullen  ^_^  :P

Lies, mustache is a proof of straightness, it's practically a wedding ring.

Just as a note, intentionally trying to derail a thread to get it closed is spam.  It also gives me motivation to ensure you aren't rewarded for those actions, and I will actively attempt to clean the thread (if possible) rather than close it.

For everyone, please try to not engage a poster if you feel they are intentionally trying to derail a thread, and use the report system instead.  Thank you.

Thank you. :hugs:

For me, Silk Fox was BioWare's first same-sex romance for women.

It's kinda unfair given I know some people at BioWare really had to push to get this conversation in but I could never trigger it.

The first time I got this dialog (completely by accident, ofc) it didn't occur to me that it was romance related.  I thought she wanted to be bffs 4 life or something.

If I meet a woman on the street, what is the likeliest thing that I will think? That she is cute, and is straight. Until she turns me down, she can't be a lesbian.

Why do I have a feeling you probably know an inordinate amount of "lesbians"?

Anyhoodly - I think more than most of the companions will not be race-gated.  Still think Dorian is the gay option.
