Do what again? What crimes did the nobles commit that were equal to mass extermination of an entire class of people, plus many thousands more in witch trials?
Their existence was bad enough.
It's starting to sound like we're going to repeat the script of the Dark Knight Rises. You can be Batman. The villain of the movie ![]()
It's probably getting out of the scope of this thread though.

I'd argue more "innocent" people died than "guilty" people, though; I think that that doesn't balance the scales at all.
But if it went towards the creation of a system that resulted in less innocent deaths, it's not unthinkable that it was worth it.

So, I wonder how quickly LIs will reveal their orientation in game.

Is it causation or correlation, though? Is beheading people publicly inherently good for the economy?
At that point in history there were very little other options for most people. It's not like the peasants could write petitions to the monarchy and expect any meaningful change. Violence was inevitable, and the responsibility for that was pretty much solely on the shoulders of the rich upper class and the monarchy that allowed the social structure to crumble to that extent for the poor. This is very off topic though, lol.

He also told Bethany when she was sad about Carver. "You want my brother? I've got a few to spare."
So I think he has a big family - of brothers as well. Bartrand was just the head.
Oh, I guess I missed that. That makes me wonder if we're going to meet any other Tethrases in Inquisition.

Probably as quick as we can flirt with them. That is assuming though they give us the option to flirt with people who are unavailable to us for the opportunity for them to turn us down, lol.

As soon as you're given the option to flirt with them? Or them with you, as the case may be.

I've been mulling (philosophically speaking) over whether or not this is a good idea (not reflective of DAI) based upon a lot of the feedback I read regarding the prospects of race gating.

I don't fully remember, so this could be wrong but i'm pretty sure Varric just says "You want mine? I've got a spare" not "I have a few to spare"

If we can't romance them, the initial build-up (beginning flirts) should be available, but then when the LI realizes the PC is serious, there should be a discussion.

Honestly I would like it better if it was included, but I can see why a lot of people might get upset or offended. Makes me worry how these people react to rejection in the real world if it upsets them that much in a game...
I just don't think it makes a lot of sense from a roleplay standpoint to not be able to flirt with someone you are attracted to (even if it's just the one time, so your companion can make their orientation/preferences known) just because they aren't actually available for a romance.

I'd say it's a good idea. Just like flirting with Aveline and Samara was a nice idea. It's good to know that even if you're the player and have influence over the world the other others are not yours to bend to your will. They each have their own likes and attractions. And still offering the same choices for the protagonist in flirting with the unavailable options is refreshing. Just think of the awkward replies or the harsh rejections. That would be worth it.

Okay yeah, I'm pretty sure this is right, actually. I don't believe Varric has any more brothers.

I can see advantages to doing it (especially in terms of representation). But I think some also expect it to be some compelling level of character development or something as a result of the decline (or worse, if it isn't acceptably explained, it's just some level of racism on the part of the character).

Think of it as a natural extention of the open-world aspect of the game.
DA:I is less about moving along a preset path* and more about finding your own way.

Well, racism is a strong word in this case. Preference can be a factor, or past events, religion or. . . physical compatibility.

Plenty more fish in the sea in the real world. A game offers a very small pond..
I also think the attitude to a game is very different. Some players treat the game like a personal fantasy where they should always get what they want. While there are people like that in the real world too, it rarely works out that way.

Can anyone fault a member of an enslaved or persecuted race for not wanting to be with someone of the race doing those things?
If a religion says you can't marry/ breed out of your race, would an adherent commonly do that?

I suspect DA:I will increase your abilitiy to flirt with people who aren't interested.
Sometimes, the flirting is the best part, even if it's unsuccessful.

I wouldn't be surprised if Solas won't be with humans, seeing as his affinity with (and support for) other elves is an important aspect of his character.

I loved Aveline's interactions (Aveline and Varric are also why I find "everyone is available for the PC" arguments to be disingenuous), though she has the "advantage" of not being available for anyone.

Yeah, it's a shared experience we can all laugh about.
