Agreed. From this prespective it makes sense for them to race gate just on the pure size difference.

 

Which probably puts IB out of the running for the s/s companion, since I HIGHLY doubt they would race gate one of the s/s romances... unless they plan on having more than one available per gender.

Sera can't be open to only elves. Unless someone can get a good picture of a female Elf warrior, with a 2h sword.

I think the Iron Bull might be open to humans, if only because there aren't a lot of qunari around for him to hop into bed with.  Especially qunari women, it seems.

don't you just love guessing games? xD I'm hoping that we don't have too many romances...8 is too much. I never played the mass effect series (and i know the DAteam and them are different) but supposedly in one of the games there were alot of romance options, and because of this you could only talk to your companion two times?? uhhh...yeeeah no. I think they said their resources were short, but I don't want that happening in muh dragon age.

Ironbull and Varric will be race gated since they are bringing back races in this game x] they might as well award the dwarf and qunari race, but for the guys who are'nt into other guys xD i'm sorry. 

Varric- dwarves only, straight
Ironbull- Qunari only, goes both ways
Dorian- all races, gay

remember, we'll have at least two options regardless of our genders ;] the people above are special as in gender specific and race. If you're gonna play a female inquisitor..

Solas- all races, bi
Cullen- all races, (?) I don't know his orientation.. the people at Bioware know that he has a male audience as well, so they might make him bi. but, we don't have a straight choice so Cullen might be that guy.

I don't think Blackwall will be a option because he seems like our wynne. Cole is a no, so he'll be a lookie but no touchie.

Yeah, fairly certain he did, at that. He also stated that not every romance was race gated and that there wouldn't necessarily be equal distribution of love interests for every race/gender combination. Also, David Gaider's comment about some romance options being unavailable, "either by way of gender or race, which are both possibilities in DAI" seemed pretty concrete. http://forum.bioware...are/?p=16742819

I'm trying to think whether or not Varric would be into elves. Maybe? But I do think it would makes sense from a development standpoint to have Varric and the Iron Bull have complementary restrictions. That said, does that mean they both share a sexuality? Or is the Iron Bull still bisexual and Varric straight?

I really, really hope that the "race-gating" isn't restricted only to dwarves and qunari because of animation concerns.  That would kind of suck.

 

My guesses to sexual orientations at this point:

 

* Cassandra - straight or bisexual

* Sera - lesbian

* Vivienne - ? (I'm not sure if she'll be an LI)

 

* Dorian - gay

* Iron Bull - bisexual

* Solas - straight or bisexual

* Blackwall - straight  (I'm not sure if he'll be an LI)

* Varric - straight (I doubt he'll be an LI)

* Cole - n/a (given that he's a fade spirit and has the mind of a child)

 

* Cullen - straight or bisexual

* Leliana - bisexual (not an LI)

* Scribe Girl - straight or bisexual

So long as no race or gender is locked to one option I don't mind, my main concern is Dorian but I have to choose between IB and let's say Cullen then so be it I guess  .

 

I doubt that the Qunari will only have IB though, seeing as that would mean every single male Qunari player will have to be gay.

I predict Solas will be straight or bisexual to because I doubt they are going to have two homosexual elf companions. Iron Bull is implied to be bisexual and Blackwall doesn't seem to be a romance (perhaps rightly so, lest we have a repeat of Thane), so I predict Dorian to be *the* gay male.

There is apparenty confirmation of racegating so I expect Iron Bull to be romanceable by humans and qunari.

I doubt he is a romance but if Varric is an option then humans may be off the table possibly considering what he says in DA2.

Until they give more details about this, we have to assume that they will be for all races until we can eliminate.

And I don't see how the 2h sword thing comes in with an elf. Are you worried that they would put a racial restrictions on weapon styles?

 

The only racial restriction for the classes is that dwarves can't be mages.

So can we stop with the race-gating characters in the sexual orientation? All I know:

• Bull seems to bi-sexual
• Cassandra is straight until proven other wise
• Cullen is the same as Cassandra
• Sera is exclusively lesbian
• Vivienne might be bi as she is Orleasian.
