That reminds me, random question. Not meaning to cause any trouble for my little darling, but what all emotional factors should we take into consideration when in combat? Like, for example, if there's some young kid out on the field who probably hasn't seen just a whole lot of blood, could I maybe throw in a check to see if he's going to get freaked out and revisit last night's wine and fancy cheese?

(Note to self: Meli, your Call of Cthulhu is showing~)

Sorry, I'm not sure where you're going with this.

You're writing the combat posts. If you want to have him turning green between attacks, I'm not going to stop you. You can even refrain from attacking if he's too busy heaving to manage it, if that's what you want to do. I'm posting the enemy attack rolls and target sites, but everything else is up to you. :)

The other thing is more fun. As I've said some 40 or 50 times before, I'm turning the adventure into a mod, and I'm creating areas as we go. That means that a lot of the time, I'll be able to put your characters in the screenshots. You've all posted images of your characters, so I can create head morphs for them (if I haven't already), but that still leaves the choice of costume. Your choices include anything from the vanilla game as well as anything from Loincloth Fashions, Kirkwall Exports, Kirkwall Emporium, and The Witcher Emporium. I'm thinking that Tessa will probably opt for regular, level-appropriate armor and that Lorien19 seems to have a preference for the Chasind-style robes for Laurelin, but your choices need not be that limited. Why not Champion Rogue Armor for Etienne? It's mostly red, and it has pants. Or Tallis's ensemble for Rael, and anything looks better than the default leather armor for Bartha (I would go with one of the Witcher styles myself). I'm kinda stuck for Tempest, but there are a lot of mods to look through. Or Tevinter-style robes with a blue theme might work. I have *some* ability to recolor existing textures. The ability to do that is a little limited, though. The color scheme has to exist in the game, so I can make most vanilla clothing models red-and-yellow by going with the Senior Enchanter color scheme or silver and light blue by going with the Silverite Weapon color scheme, but I can't make anybody's clothing purple and green (but purplish maroon and red is available). Yes, solaas, there is a greenish and gold color scheme, but it isn't as vivid as you might like, and I can't recolor mod models, only vanilla textures (and heavy armor is sometimes exempt).

Oooh, I need to look at Tevinter-styled robes. Is there a mod for that?

If not, I like the Duster of the Thedas Scorpion. I'd love something like that with the siler & light blue scheme, if possible.

You might not have understood me (I'm REALLY tired - so sorry) but you totally answered my question, lol. Thanks!

Tevinter-style robes are a vanilla game model, so there's no need for mods. I was going by your game post that he put on a red-and-gold outfit with pants instead of a robe, but I can tell you from personal experience that the Tevinter Robes in silver and light blue are lovely. I've used them for personal custom items. I'll send you a few outfit choices when I get home.

Yes, I'm fine with Tess in level appropriate armor (Although I would not cry at Tess in some version of Aveline's armor. *grin*).

And regarding roleplaying combat: I'm easing into things-I don't want to over reach in my roleplay, and I'm still (as are we all, really) learning how this combat thing goes. I'll definitely get more descriptive as we go.

Oooh, okay! What he wears depends on where he is, I suppose. He's got his pretty Circle robes for when he's mucking about town, but if they're out adventuring, that's when he'd be wearing pants and whatnot.

With the combat roleplay, it's an option for those who want it. I don't want to discourage people who do enjoy writing out the description, but it isn't necessary. As long as I've got your die rolls and your choice of enemy, I'm happy.

Aveline's armor is definitely doable. Would you mind her starting armor, though? Tessa isn't really rich enough for plate.

And Chachi, you could decide upon two looks for him, and have me use whichever is appropriate for the circumstances. The same goes for anybody, really, so pick two, if appropriate.

Hmm I'd say Merril's outfit is closer to how I Imagined Laurelin's  clothes to look like, but if it's not available in any mod then I'll stick with the chasind robes.

Merrill's outfit is available. I'm using it for her in Ser Cullen's Goodbye.

Okay, the Tevinter robes are the furry shoulder ones. I could totally dig those. :) You know what? Let me flip my choices here - the Tevinter robes in the blue (like you suggested) for when he's mucking about town, and if you can do it, the prior mentioned Witcher outfit just as is. I could see him wanting to wear these Chantry-esque colors when he's not in his robes more than when he is. It would make him happy in some strange, fashion-oriented way.

Good to hear!

I prefer them over the chasind ones. This mode project sounds really interesting.

Her starting armor is what I meant. I forgot she wears guard plate later on. :D

I'm kinda depressed. This team is so much better than the characters I was originally going to include with the mod. I wish there was a way I could simply replace the entire cast with this crew.

Why couldn't you? :P I'd be happy to answer any questions that would allow you to use Tessa. :D

You know, I bet you two could actually write your characters... :) I've been toying around with Etienne. Once I got my mind wrapped around it, it's actually not too terribly tricky. And we could help y'all. Just sayin'!

Or, alternatively, we could totally work on it for you and have you tweak things.

Yes I'd love to try and help if I can.I'll just need some instructions though.

Really? That would be soooo amazing! And, I mean, we've got the perfect roster here. Two of every character class and a nice mix of races and genders.

If you wanted to write your own characters, I'd need two basic conversations (one "getting to know you" and another "opening up a little more") and one or two banters with every other NPC, as well as a few interjections like when Alistair walks under the hanging bodies in the Korcari Wilds and says "That just seems so excessive." Writing an NPC is actually surprisingly easy.

If you did not want to write your own characters, there's plenty of banter material in the game thread, and I would definitely, definitely want the character's owner to review (and edit, if necessary) to be sure that the "voice" is right.

Nothing would please me more than to turn this thing into a team project, but there is a writing commitment involved.

If you're curious, I could make up a list of stuff that you would have to write. I've been trying to put Beldin's dialogue together to serve as an example, but I've been busy with level creation and haven't had much time to do anything else.

Heh. I was just getting ready to come in here and make Rael revise her post because I did not think there was any way that a weapon capable of firing every other round would be able to get off two shots in the same round, but I checked the rules. Rapid Reload does not say that it is restricted to simple bows, and Lightning Attack merely says that a ranged weapon must be loaded first. So it's legal! Not entirely logical, but definitely legal.

Just to be clear, normal reload practices (loading a crossbow is a Major Action) still apply for Round 3, so Rael will not be able to attack again until Round 4. That would have happened even if she had not used those stunts.

And I'd really love to have some company in writing this thing, so I'll put together an outline tonight. Beldin's first convo is just about done, so I'll post a link to that once it is.

Thanks! I was kind of winging it but what I did made sense to me...

Totes worth it, BTW  :D

Just a reminder: Laurelin is up next, then Etienne, with Tempest bringing up the rear. There's no hurry or anything, it just gets confusing.

It seems that we have a winner! I will post the approximate attack target (leg, arm, head, etc) and the rolls, and you can fill in the details. Which is great! It's actually a lot easier for me to do it that way, but I didn't want to pressure you one way or another. :)

This would be my preference too. It allows us to play our emotional reactions but still keeps the physical action somewhat consistent.

Anyway, have a look at the available styles and tell me what you'd like. If I haven't made a morph for your character already, I'll send you a screenshot to approve the character prior to using it.

I'll have a look.

I prefer to write Tempest myself versus having someone else do it, but I'd be happy to help. Just let me know exactly what you need for her, and it will be done. :)
