Also old and unhip. Happened to be present for the conversation that spouted this.
A sausage fest is the slang for too many fellas in any group. Solaas up there, coined the phrase "box party" to reference the female equivalent. ![]()

LOL!
I would have called it a clam bake. ![]()
And yes, I do know what a sausage fest is.
That's the thing Eric likes to post with the hot dogs flying at the person's face.
And yeah, our little group does seem to have that problem. I was talking to fiance about it the other day and trying to convince him to join the group with a male character. Maybe I should try again?

Clam bake hahaha
And honestly, I'm ok with our group make up. (But I've always been one of one or two females in the gaming group, so maybe I'm biased hehe)

IKR? If we got some guys, ok fine. But not being one of the only two or so girls in a game makes me ridiculously happy.

Yeah, wasn't really serious. We've got plenty of room for Boom when the time comes, but our group size is just about right. It's small enough so that we can all interact, but it's big enough to allow us to break into smaller groups for some more focused RP.

Box party...
Got to remember that one! And I totally know the feeling of being the only woman in a p&p group... I don't care about being the only woman out there, unless all but one members of the group start hitting on you... And then they kick you out because you don't bite
And I totally LOVE to read all your posts (I secretly follow it too at work, but I guess that is the time that most of you are sleeping...)

Just to make sure we're clear on this:
Rael and Tessa are going to investigate the second floor of Edred & Mirren's house.
Etienne and Tempest remain downstairs and wait for them.
Bartha, Beldin, and Laurelin are exiting the cellar and will continue their search.
A new game post will go up tonight.

Yes, to Rael and Tess. We're heading upstairs.

Maker's breath! The marching order was completely unintentional*, but... ouch.**
*By that, I mean that the encounter was always going to happen after the second "move". Had Etienne and Tempest decided to wait outside instead of remaining downstairs, it would have been them.
** Wolves are still unintelligent enemies. Given a choice, they will attack a disabled target, but all other things being equal, they snap at whoever shows up first. "Dogpile" is called that for a reason.
I felt that I should probably explain this. I try to remain as impartial as humanly possible, but I can't make enemies do irrational things just to make it seem more random. ![]()

Poor Beldin is going to hate wolves! He has the worst luck with them showing up! ![]()

I was thinking that very thing as you posted that you were entering the farmhouse.
Now that the worst of the finds are out of the way, I might as well tell you the modding thing I was threatening to tell you. Those bodies you're finding all over the place aren't corpse placeables (which are horrible and completely featureless), they're fully visualized characters that spawn dead. Each must be created like any other character, with a head morph and clothing selections and all, which means that somebody (me
) has to create faces for them. That means picking the "dead" skin tone and blending the blighted complexion, and using makeup settings to make their lips, cheeks, and eyes appear lifeless just in case somebody with a really big monitor decides to zoom in on the face. Even the children (although thankfully, the children do not spawn a pool of blood when their "spawn dead" variable is checked). After a day of making these, I was feeling rather drained and went in to talk to fiance to cheer up.
Fiance: "What's the matter with you?"
Me: "I've been making dead kids."
Fiance: "... Do I want to ask?"
Me: "No."
This is what Brella and Keltin look like up close.
Ugh.

Anybody that's thinking of entering combat at some point should probably post an initiative roll. As a reminder, that's Dexterity Test, so
Dexterity Test(3d6) + Dexterity + Focus(Initiative)
Nobody has that focus at first level, so modifier will be 0 (but normal dexterity still applies). Feel free to add it to your game post.

That's tough Berelinde... how about we just promise to not zoom in ridiculously, so you can use normal skin and such...? To make it a bit easier for you? I just want to say I admire you for going through all this effort anyway ![]()
*Gives Berelinde a hug for good measure anyway*

Aw, thanks ![]()
It wasn't all that bad, and it's over now.
Maybe it would be a good idea to play this combat open. We're all still learning the system, and it is really confusing.
You don't really need a perception check. The only characters who need to roll that are those who aren't currently involved in the encounter. They will be using sight and hearing to see if they detect combat nearby. All Bartha has to do is look straight ahead. ![]()
You only really have to roll initiative once per encounter, and you sent me the link for that already via PM.
I'm trying to follow the links and I can't find your initial attack roll. I wanted to check to see if you were applying your bonuses properly, so I found the damage roll that you did link and went back through the lookup numbers, but no luck. I believe you! I only went back through about 20 minutes, and it usually takes longer than that to write a post, so there's no reason to doubt the rolls, but I like to store the links in my combat spreadsheet in case something needs to be adjusted later, usually a forgotten bonus.
Yay! I did find your initial attack roll. I went back to your perception check and went forward with the lookup numbers until I found it.
In the future, if the links don't want to post, just copy the address and paste it directly in the post. I can copy and paste it from there as easily as I can from a hyperlink. (That's what I usually do when I want to write up the post as a Word document before I go to bed, so I can just copy/paste it in the morning.
)
