I've never played it, but fiance has. We had quite an elaborate friendly-fire system when he was DMing. Our system won't be anywhere near that complicated.
Friendly-fire can be a lot of fun, as long as everybody understands that it's all just RP and not some kind of vendetta, like Mahumia's LARP example. Even deliberate PVP is fun if it's for valid RP reasons... which I believe solaas, Chachi and I were discussing only recently.
But yeah, I'd like to be sure that Bramblefae, Hannah, and Lorien are on board with it before we go forward. The rules aren't any more complicated than stunt points, which you all seem to have mastered surprisingly quickly. In fact, they're almost identical to stunt points, except that you generate them when you miss with doubles.

I bring it up because that game has some of the most intensely horrific responses to friendly fire, lol. There's something called the "double aught" (all 00's on your dice) and when you roll it, not only do you get friendly fire, but it's bound to end your game. It's amazing. And it's scary and great and it's why I hope we do this, lol.

Friendly fire? I am in. I've never played a "tabletop" campaign without it. ![]()

Guys, Lorien probably needs to revise her post, which will most likely necessitate some changes to the wolf attack post.
Please hold off on posting anything else until Lorien has a chance to see this.
This gaming system is new to all of us. (I may just make that my sig.)

The issue is resolved. Please resume normal posting.
Mahumia may post the wolf attack on Bartha at will.
Tessa is next in the combat queue.

So, my post for Tess will just include her still running to get to Beldin and co., yes?

Ah, good! I was afraid that I might be the only one who appreciates the RP value of a good fumble.
But I'd like to hear everybody weigh in on this. If it's going to ruin the fun for someone, I'd rather not do it.
It's fine with me. ![]()
I'm going to hold off on posting with Tempest for now since she's just trying to get close enough to help and there's not really enough to say about that to justify multiple posts. ![]()

Just so long as everybody knows that she's using her round for movement, that's good enough. ![]()
It looks as if we're all in favor of the possibility of friendly fire. I've uploaded a copy of the reference sheets for the Dragon Age Set 2 ruleset. It introduces a few new stunts, as well as a the parameters for Magical Mishaps.
Have a look! I'll post a link in the "Helpful Links" thread.
It seems as if the melee/ranged counterpart, Fabulous Fumbles, was my previous GM's House Rules, but that doesn't mean we can't have them. They were all more or less translations of the magical counterparts, so reconstructing them will not take long.
While you wait for me to do this, I've stumbled across the fumbles list for fiance's (unpublished) sci-fi gaming system. Here are a few of the choicer entries for your amusement. We will not be using this system. The reason should be obvious.
From the Melee Weapon Fumble Table:
- 9 Bite and swallow tongue in all the excitement. Stunned 2 rounds.
- 10 Lose grip on your weapon and reality. Stunned 1 round.
- 13 Stumble over an unseen, imaginary deceased turtle. You are very confused. Stunned 1 round.
- 14 Worst move seen in ages. You temporarily lose 60% Speed from a rotated testicle (I don't think he ever envisioned that females might one day play RPGs - he wrote it when he was a teenager and did not actually know any females, apparently). Foe is stunned for 2 rounds laughing.
- 18 Your aim (or sanity) goes awry and you inadvertently attack a random person (not your intended target, equal probability of friend or foe.)
From the Ranged Weapon Fumble Table:
- 2 The safety was on. You are at 50% Speed this round while you attempt to recover your self-confidence.
- 6 A cruel flashback stuns you for 2 rounds. (I assume he refers to a firearm here and not PTSD, but you never know with him.)
- 12 Startled by a flying insect, you manage to stun yourself for 3 rounds.
- 14 You lose your footing and slide gracelessly to the pavement. You are prone and stunned for 2 rounds.
- 18 Only you could snag your finger in the trigger guard; you are stunned for 1 round. Try surrendering.
- 19 You artfully spin the weapon around and deliver a point blank shot to yourself.
From the Hand-To-Hand Fumble Table:
- 2 You drop 1d6 random items of clothing. If conducting an EVA exercise, you sustain 10d6 depressurization damage.
From the Magical Fumbles Table:
- 02 Caster smells like a skunk for spell duration.
- 07 Next phrase spoken by caster becomes true, lasting for 1 turn.
- 16 Caster polymorphs randomly.
- 18 Reversed Tongues affects all creatures within 60' of caster.
- 30 Colored streamers (crepe paper) pour from caster's fingertips.
- 35 Caster leaves monster-shaped footprints until Dispel Magic is cast.
- 37 Music fills the air.
- 47 Caster and target exchange places.
- 86 Small, black raincloud forms over target.
- 88 Heavy object (boulder, anvil, safe, etc) appears over target and falls for 2d20 points damage.
- 91 Target's clothes itch (+2 to initiative for 1d10 rounds).
- 96 Target sprouts leaves (no damage caused, can be pruned without harm).

If you wish. As long as somebody knows that you aren't changing direction or anything. This can be your confirmation, if so.

Yeah, Tessa's heading straight out the door (That Etienne was nice enough to open for me haha), and toward Bartha's group and the wolves.
If I don't need to post this round, I'm fine with that, since I'm not doing anything but running. ![]()

Wolves are ravaging the party, dead bodies all around, and Etienne's still gentlemanly enough to get the door.
I thought you'd like that. ![]()

Turns out that I suck at mediating spell casters. ![]()
I was confusing Shock, the spell Laurelin cast, with Flame Blast, and incorrectly applied the affect to only one wolf. In actuality, all four of the wolves currently attacking the party are subject to the initial damage, but only Wolf 4 is subject to the stunts.
I'll go back and edit my post that details the wolf healthiness. Please don't hurt me. The system is new to me, too.

I'll be honest, berelinde-This being new to you as well, makes me less worried about my own screw ups. This just means we'll figure this sh!t out together. ![]()

In other news, roll your dice, move your mice! (That Mousetrap quote is strangely appropriate in a Play-by-Post setting...)
Rael went, so Etienne is next (moving upstairs to check in on his crush, but Chachi may want to post that), then Laurelin, and Tempest bringing up the rear.
Tempest was downstairs when the fun started, so if she were not surprised, she could be there in this round, but she was, so Tessa and Tempest will both arrive on scene in Round 3. Which is good, because all of those wolves just standing around waiting for somebody to bite won't have to crowd into a narrow stairwell to greet newcomers. ![]()

If she did, it would not surprise me! She does seem to have a ferocious streak...

I love the silly little thing... but don't worry, she can be nice too ![]()

Oh, don't get me wrong! I absolutely love that she's fierce! If I could draw, I would totally draw a cartoon of Bartha leaping over a pile of wolves with X's for eyes (the wolves, not Bartha), her daggers ready and a caption that reads "You want some of this!" But I can't draw, so there it is.
That's what's interesting for me about this format. If this were a tabletop session, we'd probably be about an hour in, and I'd have formed stronger opinions about the snack food than I would about everybody's characters, but this way, it feels like I know them, that they're real people, and I can't wait to find out what happens to them next. That isn't something that's ever happened to me before as a DM, and it's making the experience a lot more fun. ![]()

Can he attack in this round? He stated movement last round.

He can cover 11 yards in one round, 22 yards if he runs. The farmhouse isn't all that big, figure 40 feet from one end to the other. Part of that distance is staircase, which halves his speed, but if he hustles, he can get to the window in that timeframe. And I said that Tessa could attack this round, and she has more ground to cover than Etienne does. Of course, the wolves may very well meet her en route...
No, he cannot attack until Round 3. I've got it down on my spreadsheet. I must have anticipated that my head would explode when I started figuring out yards and feet and everything.
That said, if you tell me that he's going to scribe a glyph, that will take more time. ![]()

Okay! No, he's not going to scribe since he thinks the wolves will only be bothering the others. I think it would make sense if he got to the window and was ready to attack next round. He doesn't know where Rael is upstairs, so there will be some confusion there. I'll go ahead and post so y'all can keep going.
