Rael isn't attacking this round, so she'll be able to have a reaction to Etienne barging through the door (and probably being lucky that her crossbow wasn't loaded at the time
)
Oh, and holy hell those are a lot of wolves!

In the meantime, Laurelin is next. I promise to carefully check all spell descriptions when I double-check the rolls. ![]()
Tempest has shaken off her surprise and is at the door at this point, but she and Tessa are on more or less the same trajectory. They will both be able to attack in Round 3. Hannah can post reactions/thoughts/confirmation etc, or she can hold off on posting until she's in combat.
Before Mahumia posts, I'd like to post an update about enemy and ally status and attack order, okay?
Edit: OMG, Chachi, you are totally going to laugh when you see the area in-game and realize that there is only one upstairs room! But that's only because I was using an existing area rather than creating my own. If I was making my own level art, I would have given it at least 3 bedrooms. Medieval-esque or not, a two adults and four children are not going to share a house with 2 rooms.

Alright, I'll keep myself calm until you have made your post ![]()

He studied the hallway very carefully.
Oooh oooh! Rael is short and she's crouching to shoot out the window, so maybe he didn't see her at first...
...so he WALKS OUT OF THE ROOM AND BACK INTO THE HALLWAY AND GOES, "....what?"
When Tempest gets there she's going to start healing allies, just FYI. ![]()
You can cast the same spell as long as you have enough mana to cover the cost.
Thanks, Lorien, your spellcasting round was perfectly spot on! Thumbs up!
Soooo... how high up is this window anyway? How hard would it be to jump out of it?
For example. Ahem.
Oh god.
Ohhhhgaaaawwwweddd, she's not going to jump out of a window, is she?! Please don't make Etienne go after her.
He can take the STAIRS!

They have jumping as a strength focus, but it seems to be more about leaping chasms and that kind of thing. I'm going to rule that the applicable focus is more Dexterity(Acrobatics) TN7. It's a second floor window, not the top of Orthanc, and you could lower yourself down feet first, which would shave about 5 feet off the drop. When your eyes measure distance to the ground, they add your height, but when you jump, you actually wind up subtracting it. Plus, rogue. This will probably not have been the first time Rael has left a building by a route other than the front door. As for Etienne, he could follow Rael's example. He's watching a pro, not trying to learn astrophysics.
All told, the drop would probably only be about 6 feet for a medium-sized creature, so I'm guessing that failure to make the roll would result in 1d3 damage. Sure, you could twist your ankle, but you aren't going to telescope your legs.
Edit: Bartha may attack at will.
Oh, and jumping would be a major action, so any jumpers would not be able to attack until Round 4.

Ah, I had not realized that your dex was so high. That would not change the target number, as even clumsy people can manage to jump out of second-story windows without maiming themselves, but there should be some possibility of failure even so.
I think we need a house rule to make things a little more real. After all, accidents happen. How does this sound?
Test Fumbles: Failure is always possible. Even if success seems assured, an unmodified roll of 3 always fails, regardless of attribute scores.

That's fine with me. I was also going to ask if she could attempt a more acrobatic move--not just lower herself down, but maybe leap out and roll when she hits the ground. Something a little more showy. It's more her style. I'd take the higher target number in that case.
Yeah, if she's showing off, that would be a higher target number. I would consider that an average test, so TN11.
Of course she's showing off!
Can I edit my previous post?
I am just posting to say that I'm gonna be away from the PC for most of today-I will be around tomorrow though. ![]()
I think Etienne's going to go green.
Again.
Etienne: *peers out the window* O.O
Of course she's showing off!
Can I edit my previous post?
Sure!
Hang on, wait.
The wolves did not start moving until after Tessa and Tempest came into view, which did not happen until the beginning of Round 3. Period.
If Rael is planning to jump based on that information, she would not be able to jump until her turn comes up in Round 3. She absolutely cannot add an extra action (especially not a major action) in Round 2.
I meant for round three. In round 2, she shot one. I had her loading her crossbow for round three, but I'd rather she jumped out the window instead once the wolves moved towards Tessa.
Unless I'm misunderstanding what round we're on...
