Lol, we're doing a good job, I think. I'm used to everyone fumbling
If only the wolves would stop biting sensitive areas...
Guys, I'm running super late for work, so I can't post a summary at the moment. Wolf 7, attacking Tempest, has 3 hp, and all of the others have at least 14hp. The combat order is the same as it was last round. Mahumia can post Bartha's round at will.
Don't worry! If you want to post a summary first, I'll wait till you have time ![]()
Well, Bartha is prone this round and will have to spend her turn trying to regain her footing, so you don't really need to wait for the summary for that. ![]()
A character has 1 chance in 8 of being targeted in the hip/groin/buttock. A character has 1 chance in 4096 of being targeted in the hip/groin/buttock four times in a row. The chance of rolling a natural 18 on 3 dice is a little less than 1 in 200, but I've never done it. I thought you should know.
Maker! Poor Beldin.
Tell me about it! (Maybe I shouldn't be surprised about that natural 3...) But it might lead to some interesting RP later if somebody tries to heal him with magic(he's never had a spell cast on him in his life, and it would probably unhinge him considerably). Or get his shirt off in any shape or fashion (for different reasons).

....crap, because Etienne is gonna make sure he gets healed. Somehow.

He'll take his pants off, if necessary, just not his shirt. ![]()
Edit: And I forgot to mention it, but please take a look at the fumbles thread when you get a chance. I tried to mirror the Magical Mishaps table, but some things are bound to be different since neither Mana nor Spellpower apply.

I know Etienne's healing is very frou-frou and lady-like BUT HE DOESN'T HEAL THAT WAY, BERELINDE.

Bandaging! I meant bandaging! ![]()
The DA ruleset is full of ways to heal that don't involve magic.
- Taking a Breather: heals 5 + Constitution
- Sleeping: heals 10 + Constitution
- Cunning(Heal) test: Any character can heal any other character for a number of points (don't remember the particulars, but I can look it up). It is about the same as a Heal spell, actually, but only one attempt may be made per character.
Maker's breath!
Apparently, I still suck at mediating spellcasters. I deducted the damage for Laurelin's Winter's Grasp, but I neglected to do the saving throw versus Slow. Which is really a shame, because Lorien's narrative throughout that post was awesome. (Technically, you don't get to add your Magic score to the damage for that spell, but I'm going to let it slide because the description was so good). The wolf failed its test, so it had to roll again in Round 4, and failed then, too (sustaining another 5 points damage), and it will have to roll another test in Round 5). Its speed is slowed, so should it change targets, it will take longer to run there, but it may still attack normally.
And I'm going to edit Beldin's post to reflect the fact that Wolf 8 is glittering like a vampire and magic is literally going off on all sides around him.
Oh, and I'm going to start linking the combat spreadsheet for each encounter. Keeping things straight for large encounters is rather a large project, so if you guys want to monitor your progress and point out inconsistencies, I'm not going to complain. It may give you a few spoilers about who is going to attack who next round, but you're all too good roleplayers to use that knowledge to unfair advantage.
No worries,I'll also keep that in mind when Laurelin casts that spell. Speaking of casting, what happens when a mage runs out of mana points?
They have to use Arcane Lance. ![]()
Ok,thanks! They have to use Arcane Lance.
Just a reminder that Laurelin and Tempest still have to go this round.
And don't forget to check the "Fabulous Fumbles" thread, if you haven't done so. I won't implement the system until everyone approves it.
Darn, I'm having more fun with imagining a furious Bartha pinned down than a fighting one XD (no, that's not a hint!)
Too true! I'm having a blast with Beldin's missed shots.
Sadly, not everyone gets that. Nothing I said would convince my sister that it was just as much fun to RP failed ability tests, so she eventually agreed that maybe this wasn't the game for her. It was really sad, I felt terrible about it, and she's been sulking for days, but it was never going to end well.
I'm glad it's sorted for you and I hope your sister moves on from her sulk soon into acceptance. *smile*
Well, she was going to sulk regardless, right? At least now, there's an end-date in sight!
Sorry to hear that Berelinde
But yeah, accepting losses every now and then is a part of roleplay, and for those who cannot handle that (for whatever reason), it is going to be tough... I hope the atmosphere will improve soon!
And totally different (and being too lazy to post it twice): got some update for my templar armor:
Edit: second mockup has been finished too (Pic in link shown above. Don't worry, this is some cheap throw-away fabric, not the real thing
)
Laurelin has been unable to post, but there's no rush. While we're waiting, this might be a good time to write a dialogue for your character's reaction to finding the bodies at the Fuldor farm.
Throughout the adventure, some game points are going to stand out as needing dialogue. This is one of them. Maybe the PC wants to know if your character is okay or if they're really disturbed by what they saw. Maybe your character will have specific reactions to finding a particular victim (so young, so old, looks like your character, whatever). These are all jumping off points, not absolutes.
Sometimes, your character's reaction will be strong enough to merit an interjection, where the character interrupts regularly scheduled dialogue with remarks of his or her own. And that's totally cool. For example, suppose your character had been the one to find little Quint. You might want to write a reaction dialogue. It doesn't have to be long, although the player should have the opportunity to say something (or remain silent). Beldin's thing with the toy is one possible example of that, although there are others. Obviously, your character can't have interjections upon finding every single body (it would seem overwhelming), but everyone should react to at least one of them. We should probably plan it out so that the youngest don't get all of the interjections and the farmhands none at all. That isn't to say that your characters can't react to finding the kids. The can, and they should. Just not all of the kids and nobody else. For example, Beldin would say something about finding 4 year old Quint, but not 9 year old Borren because Beldin was 4 when his mother and baby brother died of fever. The age means something to him. He would probably also say something about finding Keltin because he would have remembered him from the pub. But he'd have nothing to say about the others, specifically.
Later, most players will want to talk to your character about it. Maybe your character needs comfort. Maybe your character is more interested in offering it to the PC. But you should have something prepared for the inevitable "I wanted to talk to you about the farm."
It might be a good idea to write that now while the ideas are still fresh in your mind. ![]()
So are you wanting both ambient dialogue as well as conversation stuff?
