Are we going to do anything tomorrow? Leave the house? Explore another area?

I think we're ready to explore the other house. Lorien and I are RPing a little convo in PMs right now. We can post when we're done.
The people in the house, I think, are about done in there...

People are wandering around, vacationing in exotic places, and generally not posting, so I'm going to give you and Lorien a chance to finish up your RP. The big problem is that I can't post that people are leaving the house unless they actually say that they are.

Who's still away from home?

I am technically back, and if all that's wanted of me is a quick decision, I can do it, but my brain is otherwise toast.
I'll be good tomorrow though. Hannah is away, yes?

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I'm cool with holding off for a bit.
In other news, the fumbles tables turned out very, very humorously with my tabletop group. We use real dice there, not Invisible Castle, so I was rolling for all of the enemies with one throw of the dice. And I kept rolling fumbles. At one point, the entire band of 10 bandits knocked themselves out for 2d6 minutes (which wound up being 10). My sense of theater demanded that I have somebody from the village ride up and say "What in the Maker's name is going on here?" And one of the players responded "They all knocked themselves out at once!" And it was true.

Yeah, we haven't heard from Hannah, but we were anticipating that.
Other than that, yes - I believe us housers are done and good to move out. I'll go ahead and post up Etienne being ready to transition out.

I'll make the next game post tonight, but I've got a feeling that we should be wrapping things up on the farm.
How do we feel about me just describing what's found in each of the farmhand quarters and the smokehouse and letting each player decide whether they went in or whether they stayed out? Everybody can roleplay their reactions without taking literally three weeks to walk out a door, decide what to do next, and then walk through another door.

That works for me. Rael will remain on guard on the outside while whoever wants to goes in to look around.

Yeah, I think we're all heartily sick of dealing with it at this point. Time to switch things up and get back to the fun stuff.
In other news, the reason I haven't made a game post before now is that I was rendering levels. Vintiver Daytime is done and dusted, and I think Vintiver Nighttime is, too, but I'll have to do a level walkthrough when I get home to test the animated lighting.
Which means that I'm going to need joining dialogues.

When you say joining dialogues, you mean what the character says to get the PC to let him/her join the party?

Yes, plus three random things the character might say if approached before Kesla gives the quest.
For example:
Beldin's
Ambient1: They've started manning the watchtowers after dark. People are anxious.
Ambient2: I prefer ale, but the North Slope Green isn't bad.
Ambient3: If you're looking for gear, talk to the journeyman. The blacksmith's work is good, but he only makes hinges and tools.
Joining: I hear you're heading over to the Fuldor's in the morning. Can I offer you a hand?
-1 Yes.
-2 What can you do?
-3 No, thanks.
B1 Then my axe and I are yours.
B2 I'm skilled with axe and blade... and I'm made of meat. That's always a good thing to put between you and danger, aye?
-1 Perhaps I could use your help.
-1 I've said so myself on numerous occasions.
-3 Not this time.
B3: I'll be here for a while if you change your mind.
(If talked to later)
B: Have you reconsidered?
-1 Yes, join me.
-3 No, I still think separate paths are best.

Holy crap. For the first time, I think I get this dialogue stuff.
#740
Posté 04 août 2014 - 06:54
Yeah, it's just shorthand notation for the links. -1 goes to B1, -2 goes to B2, etc. It gets really confusing with the longer dialogues, since you'll want to keep the number of side branches to a minimum. I've been doing this for 10 years now, so I don't expect anybody to just pick it up and be an expert.
The idea is that I'd like to make the mod as we go through the campaign, so that by the time it's done, we'll all be ready for play-testing. I don't know if that's going to happen, but it's a worthy goal.

Sorry for railroading Tessa into more exploration. I needed a PC with a head morph on file.

It's all good.
It's nice to be wanted LOL
EDITED TO ADD: Do you want me to pick up at the scene of the farmhand's quarters? Or wait to see who's decided to come with Tessa?

Please wait a little to give folks a chance to join her.
Edit: Although you may opt to have her react to Beldin's rather odd request. And I am truly sorry for the railroading. I don't think the people who wrote the adventure ever anticipated that people would be playing it via play-by-post and might not want to explore the farm in such exhaustive detail. But the mod version will be quicker, since the followers go wherever the PC goes.

I've done a quick wrap-up post regarding the last bit of exploration, but could make a more detailed one if you prefer that?

Your post is fine as it is. It's probably best to keep it simple until everyone has a chance to post their round.

I posted mine, but I could also add her reaction to what they find there, if that makes sense...

Sorry for my complete lack of posting while on vacation. Wifi was not as available in transit as was implied, to put it mildly.
I'll be home tomorrow (barring more travel delays) and will catch up then. Thanks for your patience! ![]()
