Since we aren't rolling dice for this one, I figured that it would be easier to just post a framework that would let everybody win, lose, and ultimately, end in a draw. It is just a training exercise... although I kinda wonder if there might be some taunting about romantic aspirations at some point. Depending on how Ann plays it, she may have Mercuriel accuse Beldin of tipping his hand. Maybe not yet. They all barely know each other. But it might be fun to keep in mind for a potential rematch.

I gotta say that I am totally in love with how the romantic rivalries are playing out. Everyone seems to be treating it as the light entertainment that it's supposed to be, and that makes for good theater, and good times!

I have been having so much fun with everyone. :D I *love* this group. :D

(And I will go first, unless Ann posts while I'm writing, cuz I'm "raring to go" haha)

Edited: Actually, I'll talk to Ann, and go from there. :D

*drags in some pillows to sit on* Oh boy, so many things happening to which Bartha is totally oblivious... which I think is only for the best

And what do you mean, 'light entertainment'? That whole romance thing is dead serious, woman :P (we've almost got our own little soap here, lol)

And for some late response: I loved the little reference to Anders in the joined post from Etienne and Sarel.

Public Service Announcement: (for those who aren't web savvy) DTR=Define the Relationship

I had to google it.

And sorry not sorry about the axe drop. I wrestled against the urge to post it, but my sense of humor demanded it.

The eyelash flutter had me wrestling in a similar fashion. :D

(And thanks for the heads up about DTR, because I was like.."wha?") :P

LOL, I'm the only one who uses that term? Maybe it's a Cali thing...

And man, this is a lot of double entendre!

I knew what it meant. Only us old people use it. ;)

Poor Beldin. :( Tempest would understand. She thinks her scars mean she has no hope of romance ever, either.

Yeah, he's convinced of it, I'm afraid, but on the plus side, he knows he isn't infallible. I could see him confiding in Tempest. He's afraid of magic (but not demons, oddly enough - I think they're just too far outside the pale for him to fully comprehend the danger), but she's a quiet, kind woman with a lot more life experience than he has. I think he'll trust her completely... which may become annoying.

And by the way, I'm probably going to run out of likes soon, so when I do, I'll have to settle for posting my list of links in the gallery.

Tempest thinks Beldin is a good guy, and she'd be happy to offer him encouragement. In spite of her certainty about herself, she would still have hope for him. Although she has no relationship experience of her own, she believes in and encourages them. ;) I can't see her getting annoyed with him; she's pretty hard to annoy.

Dog is giving me serious nostalgia fits, in a good way. I had a beautiful yellow lab/Alsatian mix who was just the sweetest, gentlest thing. She never barked and she certainly never growled, although she sometimes did this cute yodel-y thing if she was getting belly rubs. She'd just wander over and put her head in your lap when she thought you needed a hug.

One time, I was away on a camping trip, and I hired a pet sitter to keep her company while I was gone, but the pet sitter locked the keys in the house on her first day. She got the police to break in through the dining room window. The police officer borrowed a ladder and climbed in, but slipped and fell forward onto the floor (completely destroying the crystal on the sideboard, but that's another story). He looked up to see great, slobbery jaws inches from his nose. She was a really big dog, and he just about peed his pants, until she pushed his hat off and started licking his bald head. He told me about it a few weeks later when I bumped into him on a rescue squad call. Man, I miss that dog, but sadly, no animal lives forever, no matter how much we wish they would.

Awww, cute dog! I love big dogs... I just really don't have enough time to get one, with my fulltime job :( So I have mini puppies... (rats are quite comparable to a dog in their behaviour... they just don't like belly rubs usually XD)

And Bartha doesn't know (yet) about Beldins mark, but she wouldn't mind. Yeah, it would startle her for a moment, but, surely if he would also inform her about the backstory, she'd honestly believe it to be injust.

My oh my, haven't we just got a club of people with the 'forever alone' mindset, whilst the rest is totally having other ideas?  :P

To be fair, Etienne and Rael both thought they'd be alone forever as well. They just happened to be wrong! :D

"Did I do it? That's the wrong question. You should ask yourself if you can trust me, because a man capable of earning this the hard way is capable of deluding himself, most of all. If I had done it, I could come up with a thousand reasons why it was undeserved."

Laurelin is still oblivious, but I'm so glad my OTP finally got toghether. I also used to be a hardcore Beltha shipper but now,I'm also starting to ship Beldin with Tessa, there are few things I like as much as a good old love triangle.

Also a word of advice,DON'T feed Laurelin's bird!

Fair enough, but I take it she's seen her fair share of brands, as (former) casteless dwarves seem to be covered with them. So yeah, she does the link brand = criminal.

She'd wonder indeed if Beldin could be trusted, hence the startling.

But he would have already had the opportunity multiple times (probably even more by the time she finds out), but hasn't acted upon it. And there is one such thing as instinct and gut feeling. Does that mean she is correct? She would certainly hope so.

Nonetheless: the circumstances can be totally different and lead to another response that what I expect now :) Heck, if she'd seen it during the undress-stabbing by Rael-scene, she would have probably responded a lot stronger.

Stronger than fatally stabbing him??

Hey, Rael was just pointing a sword in his direction and he stabbed itself  :P

But I meant that she would have been not as mild as a 'meh, can live with that', as that scene would have appeared quite intense from a distance. So yeah, had Bartha seen it all (and not interpretated it as a romance scene like she did now), Beldin might have had to dodge some daggers too.

Well, it's probably for the best that he keeps his shirt on, even in the bathtub. He'd look like a pincushion otherwise!

"Wait! It isn't what you thi-"

*looks down at daggers protruding from his rib cage*

"Here we go again."

*dies*

You know, though.

I could see Beldin's brand being a fantastic opportunity for roleplay and character development-for Beldin and for anyone else who sees it. Lots of room for trust to be developed (or not), and all sorts of things.

I love how complex all these characters are. :)

Hey, at least Tempest didn't stab him! :P

She didn't even seriously consider attacking him. Which is odd for her of all people, in a way, given her history. She was able to relate to being marked as a lie, though.

Well, he might bathe with his shirt on and wash it and himself at the same time, but he takes it off and puts on a clean one when he gets out. I guess somebody's going to have to walk in on him when he's getting out of the bath...

But you are right in that everyone has deep, fascinating characters. I love getting to know them!

Also, we kind of need Ann to acknowledge that the match is over before the next bout begins.

She's on eastern US time, and a lot of times she's out during the day. I imagine she'll be around this evening.
