I'm looking forward to try out Sam, I really like her character.

But Steve I'm not sure if I ever would try it, I think I like it more to just help him overcome his husband's death.

But what do you mean by "at least it mattered to someone"? You mean others are not grateful for what you did throughout the game? Or are you solely referring to ME2?

They just help connect to that plot, in an indirect way. "Fight for the lost" was ME2's slogan. Traynor was  almost one of the lost. Steve feels loss. And Traynor is the only one still focused on saving what she can of humanity.. and (indirectly) the humans from ME2. Ascension, Jacob and Miranda. Like she's returning the favor somehow.

I feel like a lot of ME2 was crapped on. The characters, Harbinger, the Collectors, etc..

I see :)

Even though I guess we cannot hold it against Shepard he's not focusing on those, there are much bigger things on stake now than what happened to the colonies in ME2. This was just the beginning.

It's true that it seems that ME2 was a bit neglected (the lack of content for some characters from ME2 is just sad, but Citadel DLC made up for it a bit imo), and bigger roles for Harbinger and characters should have been in ME3. But storywise I think it makes a bit more sense, at least for the characters.

Pretty much every character in ME2 was there only for helping to stop the Collectors, more or less all of them have zero reason to stick with Shep, they went their separate ways and moved on/took care of more personal things. Due to Shepard working with the Alliance again it makes sense they went with characters tied to the Alliance/ME1.

But maybe I can feel that way because I don't care for the ME2 squad as much as I do for the ME1/3 squad, haha.

Yeah, "haha". That's basically what I come to expect now. "I got mine. So much for anyone else." ;)

Trilogies usually end on a note of convergence and bringing all the elements together. Not by getting smaller and insular. They finally realized this with the Citadel DLC, but it's not quite the same. It's kind of tacked on and not part of the general atmosphere in the game. It's enough to flesh out my character, but it's more like a band-aid.

Given the disconnect of ME2 from the rest of the trilogy, I'd say neglecting it was expected. Trilogies don't usually have a completely disconnected part in the middle of the series :D Add to that the Suicide Mission which renders all those squadmates far from having major roles in ME3 (yes, even Tali and Garrus who are not essential to ME3), and writers/dev team/fan favorites getting more content...

All and all, I'm quite impressed with how they handled the situation (at least for male Shepards). I mean, as short as it was, Jack romance was my favorite of all even without the Citadel DLC.

Just curious I always go for Liara and I was wondering if there's anyone better and why?

His right hand. His left if he's feeling adventurous.

It's only disconnected because the main writer left. They had more things in mind with human biotics and Harbinger's fixation on humans. Whether it'd have been good or not, I don't know... but at least there was some intent behind it.

Other than that, it mostly sucks for ME2 squad members because of time constraints. They have cut content of Jack/Grunt/Zaeed/etc on Earth. They had planned a much bigger quest for Thane and Kasumi. Even THEY didn't want it to be as stripped down as it turned out, but they couldn't do anything about it. So I'm not going to defend what we got like it was all intentional. It wasn't.

That's kinda the point I was making, with the amount of content they were forced to cut it's damn amazing that what's left is good enough (at least for me) to consider Jack's romance the best of the trilogy. Same goes for the fans of Miranda romance.

I can agree on that. It is kind of amazing, isn't it?

There's still enough there to have fun with and build a good RP standpoint out of. So I'm not a complete hater..

I feel worse for Thane fans. The mission they planned would've been on par with Grissom/Horizon/Grunt's rachni stuff/etc..

I don't see it like that though. I can sympathize with ME2 lovers, really. Hey, I had to go through one game without having Kaidan by my side . But jokes aside, there are some characters that I would love to see more and longer, but I can deal with it since I'm "lucky" enough I loved ME1/3 squad more.

As for the second part, I strongly agree on that of course, but you and Vazgen already pointed out that due to time constraints it was impossible. Instead we got a hologram goodbye scene, and yeah, while it's at least something, I can't help but wonder what could've been.

Bioware had an opportunity to have more of Miranda and Jack through the Ciradel dlc, but chose not to. They could've been made squadmates for the gameplay part. If they can make Wrex a squadmate then they can do the same for Jack and Miranda. They chose not to. Both could've escorted Shepard on the casino mission. Both could've been at the car place saying, Having a bad day Shepard. Again, they chose not to.

Yeah, I don't know what that's all about. The only way I can make sense out of it is that Jack and Miranda have met Maya face to face and they didn't want to complicate the story this way (then again, so does Kaidan maybe... if she happens to be Rana/Rasa).

They might use that for an excuse, but would it work for the other ME2 squadmates?

I haven't read all the comics (I'm waiting on the hardcover), but I don't think the others met her personally... except Thane. And he's dead.

I've never read any of the comics, so I wouldn't know.

Its obvious Bioware favored ME1 characters over the ME2 characters. I'm surprised they didn't call ME3, ME1 Part 2

Maybe a little. I know though that Walters said he was going crazy trying to make it all work...and that the deaths were a bigger drawback than they expected.

And I think he cares enough that he wrote those Foundation comics and came up with the Citadel idea. It shows that he doesn't want to leave those characters either. And he's still the lead on the franchise... He probably wouldn't do it if he didn't love all of it.

Jack, Miranda and Thane had met her in Foundation comics. She had also met Ash but under disguise of an Alliance psychologist and Wrex as a regular worker.

Kind of like M/F Hawke. Perfect couple. :D

edit: Oh wait, you're saying male/male.

Well, I killed the clone. There can only be one.

Alas, fate kept them apart, but each knew their compounded greatness would be too much for even the reapers.

For me the best ones are Miranda and Kaidan. They are my 2 canon playthroughs.

But i actually love all MaleShep romance options:) Though Tali belongs with Garrus   And Steve with James (my headcanon, don't ruin it ;)).

I don't play same-sex romance stuff, but if did I think it'd be Traynor and Cortez.

I'm a pretty big fan of my Noone -> Chambers -> Traynor playthrough.

I don't go for Ho-yay and les-yay ships. In fact, I'm rather against the idea of pairing unless it's the PC for the most part. I don't think it's good form for characters to be paired together romantically all the time.

Kaidan is the best romance for Shepard IMO.

I just think it fits really nicely in the story.

I love that he's only romanceable in ME3. The whole war situation pushes them to finally confess their feelings for each other and get together. Any day could be their last, might as well enjoy it.

And they're just so great together.
