That's very, very, very, very, very few humans.
Quite the thing for the trilogy to omit, given that so much of it involves Krogan (especially in ME2-ME3).
I don't think it is saying all Krogan always had a horn like a Triceratops. I think it is more that there is more variation amongst Krogan than they have shown. Some have a horn, some don't. Grunt already looked a lot different from Wrex.

During those closed door screenings that allegedly happened, they showed off footage of more diverse aliens. They said something about changing the head crest of Krogan to make them appear more different.
Was that one of the rumors?
If so the recent trailer might lend more weight to the claim that the rumored PAX panel happened.
Anyway, if the Krogan are getting a redesign here is to hoping that the Quarians will as well. The reveal that the Quarians are near identical to humans was boring. They should be a bit more alien in the sequel.

I certainly wouldn't object to that even though it would be a retcon. I think sufficiently few people saw it and the original decision seemed to me to be made with the intention of keeping a bunch of Tali fans happy rather than an interesting creative choice.

All species will look at least slightly different. They can add more details, make them more unique.
I just hope that not every human has the same body model...
If you look at some of the older Krogan head plates, many are very distinctive with protruding, edged ridges that sweep rearwards. It's not difficult to believe that during the evolution of the species, there were certain genetic traits that produced head plates with forward sweeping ridges that resembled horns. Maybe those genetic traits are gone in the timeframe that ME1-3 takes place, maybe certain clans still had this genetic trait. Perhaps it is still there, rare and with a stigma attached so those that do have a horn grind it down. Perhaps it is even a body modification, an artificial horn anchored to the headplate to serve as an addition melee weapon. Or maybe the genophage cure has brought forth some recessive genes as a side effect. All are within the realm of possibility, as completely fictional chitin covered space frogs are concerned anyway.
As for combat, just because a Krogan has a horn doesn't mean it can't headbutt, instead spearing or impaling enemies.
Regardless, the new concept art looks awesome and I'm extremely excited about the official announcement of a new Mass Effect game. I cannot wait for this game to launch because I've bored to tears and barely play video games at all anymore. Mass Effect has made all other franchises seem lackluster to me.

No, just young. He hasn't developed that massive hump on his back older Krogan do. Consider how much taller he is, going by head height, than other Krogan. Now imagine how huge he'll be once he fully matures.

A lot of people didn't like how she looked either, and thought the Quarian reveal made them far too human-looking. Though of course that isn't true for everyone.

I only mean runt in the more.. conversational sense. That he's super strong and great in combat, yet still so damn young for a krogan. So compared to the other strong warriors, he's a runt.
I don't mean the smallest one in a litter, or anything like that. Not the literal 'runt'.
OK, Grunts appearance has been explained, but I still think adding some diversity is OK. I don't want any species (other than Quarians) to have their appearance retconned, but adding more models is good.
This krogan(?) looks far more beastial than any krogan we've seen so far. Could be nothing. Could be something.
My biggest problem with this crest horn is that it lowers the chances that my human character will ever headbutt a Krogan again.. on the other hand the crest horn is one of the most compelling reasons to why we should be allowed to play as Krogan..and headbutt everybody!!
That Krogan is naked (from the looks of it), besides with a new hardware bioware is probably adding more models for each species and I am cool with that.
