So we know that race will effect the story including romances but do we know if it will effect stats?

I am guessing that Dwarf's cant be mages. Will there be any other race/class exemptions? In DA:O the dwarfs also had a slight magic resistance, will that be back?

We don't know about stat differences, but the only class restriction is that dwarves cannot be mages. All other class/race combos are A-OK.

Now when I play other RPG's, I can't be a dwarf that use magic, lol thanks Bioware!

On-Topic: I hope dwarves keep their magic resistance and adds even more stats, but this makes me wonder how will others respond to our dwarves closing veils. Hmm, wonder if it's going to add to our stats in some kind of way….

I've heard Dwarves will be even more resistant to magic in Inquisition, since in Origins they had only a minor resistance. I have no evidence or quotes and am operating off memory so... Take with salt as needed.

I do hope all the races have some kind of interesting trait though in the combat-oriented mechanic level (Since story elements are covered to an extent)

Not sure what would be appropriate for each race personally though, or I'd suggest something.

I hope every class gets different stats and perks.

I'd love to see a height/weight system too, but I can't see Bioware doing what without a muh "equality" shitstorm on the forums.

I could see the Qunari getting a fairly significant strength and/or constitution boost (or maybe a trait that lowers armour requirements or boosts weapon damage?), although I'm not sure how far they could go without screwing with the balance between the races. Maybe a resistance to weapon damage equal to the Dwarf's magic resistance. Something that fits with the Qunari's physical superiority over the other races.

in origins, dwarves actually got the increased strength and constitution as well as the anti magic perk, i would like to see some type of other perks for the other races as well, dwarves get magic resistance, maybe humans get something along the lines of boosted persuade/intimidate skill, elves get extra bow damage or staff damage, qunari get resistance to physical damage...  something like that

Aren't the Qunari called The Bronze Skinned Warriors or something? I know it's a reference to pigmentation, but it could be a fun dual meaning if it turned out the Qunari skin/musculature is thicker/more resistant. Not saying Bullet Deflecting like a certain Mild Mannered Reporter, just very tough. Could also explain why they opt to go shirtless.

Dwarves got the boosted magic resistance because they can't be mages, but putting things like 'elves get boosted X weapon damage" restricts them to certain classes in a way that's unfair to someone who wants to be an Elf that doesn't use X weapon. Would make more sense to say give elves a boosted Nature resistance, and maybe humans a bonus to Defense, and Qunari a bonus to Armor. That sorta simpler thing, which could benefit members of a race who is part of any class.

In any case, I think there will be stat bonuses in this game, but much like Origins those bonuses won't mean much once you get to the higher levels. Will be interesting to see none the less.

The do have something like this already. Basically within the Dodge ability that a lot of people been yelling about as it is.

Warrior(Heavy) -> Short Roll.

Rogue (Light) -> Dive Roll. (much longer range)

Mage (Magic!) -> Quick Teleport. (Still unconfirmed)

They said something about a headbutt ability for qunari last PAX. They may have been joking, but one can hope.
