First off, I already said that failure to effectively communicate what you were talking about is the fault of the person making the point. This this case it is Anita's fault for not being clear. I have said this multiple times in this thread and even if she did mean it in the way that I am suggesting she might have it would not absolve her of the blame of not having been clear about it in the first place. I am simply suggesting that you be open to the idea that maybe she didn't mean physical strength.

I've tried, and the answer is: No, I can't see it that way. "Naturally weaker gender". "Completely False." "Frail, Fragile, Vulnerable." All of those words tell me she was referring to physical strength. In the absence of any clarification from her, I'm going to continue to see it that way.

I think the important thing to note is, yeah, there's a difference between SJWs and legitimate requests for equality. Saying females have too minor of a role in games is perfectly reasonable, and I agree with it. But saying companies should be forced to include characters of certain genders, races, or orientations, and if they don't then they're bigoted monsters worse than Hitler, is just ridiculous. The lack of inclusion doesn't mean exclusion. On the same token, I think anti-SJWs are far worse. Winy douches who think every request for a female protagonist is "Feminazism", and that women or other races want to take over the game industry. It's not just ridiculous, it's ****** shameful that some people legitimately think those things.

Very much agreed although I would rate the two extremes as equal.

I'm not going to comment on Anita's intent for that statement.  That's up to her.

But since it's a topic that's causing "consternation", here's my 2cents to add to the bonfire.

I had a politically active "feminist" best buddy etc..  in the past, and I can say, without any hesitation, the idea of "frail, fragile, vulnerable" is not meant as a physical only concept.

It's about individual ability as a "package of traits."  It's also about trying to get away from expectations of what an individual belonging to a race or gender should be capable of or entitled to.

It would not surprise me at all if the anecdote of Anita having to fight for getting a "gameboy" was real.

I don't think alot of "guys" really get that.  That it is a "fight".

Gender priming starts early with even many liberal parents where boys get blues and girls get pink and purple.

Tell a child what they should be long enough and what their role should be, and don't be surprised if they become that cog.

It takes a very strong and capable person to break out of molds.

So yes, I would say the SJW movement has a place in video games, as do discussions like these with arguments for and against spanning the spectrum.

It fits with my belief in diversity and individual freedoms.

Ah, but the beauty here is that the SJW will only allow "individual freedoms" with things that fall within their interests. Anything else is either bigoted or invalid, no matter how good or resonable the argument is. They're not too different from those kind of people that won't accept anything short of the straight white guy saving the day and getting the girl. By the end of the day I think it's just the same coin, different sides.

Some folks are guilty of that all right.  I agree.

But I wouldn't say all SJWers automatically fall into that category.

It is something they have to guard against.

Sure they can lose sight, and not keep the balance.

The challenge is to get the message out so people discuss it, and sometimes that does require more extreme measures to overcome inertias and have unpleasant but necessary conversations.

And that methodology is gonna change and be subject to constant debate.

This is where Bioware I think does it in a great way.

They offer choice and diversity and through entertainment.

More effective I think in the long run.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm sure that there are genuinely well intentioned social justice activists that want things to change for the better and nothing else. It's just that I've been exposed with a lot of people with those kind of behaviours, you know, the "you either cater to my every whim or you are part of the problem". All I want is to see game devs adding diversity to the game because it belongs there, not just to fill an quota.

Well considering that games like Witcher 3 and GTA5 who are far from SJW/Politically Correct as one can be STILL managed to outsell DAI which is like the beacon for SJW hope within the videogame industry.

So my belief is that developers will latch onto the SJW idea for a while but it will never become a norm.

After E3 I doubt people take them very seriously. Personally I want to see more black people in games, however these guys often ruin it with their fanaticism. An example being the "criticism" of the The Witcher 3 not having people of color despite the fact it's based off polish mythology and medieval Poland.

Oh i had fun pointing out to an sjw that the polish are Slavic. and that is where the word Slave came from. the Poles were an inslaved race before the Africans and even then the african tribal leaders Sold there own into Slavery.
