From my confession booth, I admit I have sinned & purchased a cheat to max out 100% both paragon & renegade (same time) so I can explore all the conversation possibilities in the game.   Interesting replies.   Ton of fun!

But aside from that -- which do you prefer?

Paragon (most/sometimes/never) - when used?

Renegade (most/sometimes/never) - when used?

A mix (P-90%,R-10%) -when used?

I mostly go for paragon, with some healthy mix of renegade in there. In the end, most of my Shepards end with a mix of both.

I would like to go renegade more often. However, most of the renegade replies(at least, in my experience), picture Shepard as bully/hypocrite/raging human supremacist/downright retarded. That's not the kind of character I want to play. So, mostly paragon.

I'm not really big on multiple playthroughs, so I just do Paragon. I'm good with just watching some renegade youtube vids.

Paragon is more interesting to me, because I feel it is easier to act Renegade than Paragon in real life given Shepard's situations.

Renegade can be funny and bad***, but it also comes off childish, impatient, and douchey. I'd just hate my own character lol.

I'm someone who's not proud of having somewhat of a short temper, so I aspire to the Paragon's skill with patience and diplomacy. Also, when you're a trained killer, I like to believe showing mercy at certain moments is for the humble and brave, whereas killing is just too easy and short-sighted (think LOTR, lol).

Ideally I'd be a paragade cause flexibility is good. But unfortunately the game is alot less rewarding for playing mix, which is kind of annoying.

I've almost always played a paragon shep whenever possible, with a healthy mix of tasty renegade interrupts thrown in just because. This time I'm playing a mostly renegade shep, and staying with it for the most part, although she has mellowed toward the Normandy crew since those early days.

No matter how many times I play the game from here on out, I think I'll be playing a mix of the two.

I pick the ones that I would pick. I lean towards more paragon than renegade, but I don't like the alignments holding me back from enjoying dialogues.

I'm a pretty good judge of when to use paragon and renegade. In ME1 pure renegade can make Shepard a real ass. I'm doing a renemance of Liara right now, though. It's tricky because the dialog tree doesn't say exactly what Shepard says. And sometimes you want to play Shepard as a little human supremacist - think Colonist with Batarians. I just finished "Bring Down the Sky" on renegade. Then there were missed lines that were never in the game that you wish were in the game....

I use gibbed to bounce them to the levels needed to unlock all ME2 persuasions, then ignore those persuasions which are out of character for whichever Shepard I'm roleplaying. Most of my Shepards fall between 60-40 Paragade and 40-60 Renegon. I've never played a pure paragon or renegade (or as Sheploo) and I never will.

Not real big on letting the wheel tell me what to do, say, or think. Not a fan of the "choose upper-left blue to win" mechanic which discourages people from paying attention or thinking for themselves.

Usually in Bioware games, I explore almost all of the dialogue. However, in the ME series, I skipped the vast amt of Renegade options, as it nor only opposed my instinctive choices, but hurt the character mechanically. I do not mind snarky, but rebel at offensive or non-productive selections. It is here that I prefer the alignment options of SWTOR, among other titles.

I pick the options that I like and feel are appropriate for the character I am playing. I never found any fun in sticking to one particular alignment just for the sole reason of sticking to it, not even in KotOR.

My Para/Rene bars are typically even for most of the game. I think I end them with about a 60:40 P:R ratio, but I do pick a good number of the neutral responses that don't offer any points...

Depends on the Shepard, but my most satisfying trilogy run remains my neutral engineer who tilts ever-so-slightly to the renegade spectrum.

It was basically paragade for the first two games, because ME1 and 2 Renegade Shepard was kind of a space dick that got more people killed for little to no benefit. It was easy to be renegon strictly for the personality change in ME3 without having to kill or punch everything in sight like some kind of cro magnonaut.

All my Shepard's are mixed. Pure paragon makes me wanna cry, pure renegade makes me wonder who the *bleep* put Shepard in charge.

None of my Shepards have been over a 75/25 split in either direction, so I feel you there.

Yeah full renegade is basically a psycho. My ruthless colonist Shepard seems the perfect fit for it, especially after talking to Talitha on the Citadel. He doesn't even bother sneaking around on Aratoht, because every batarian bastard there must die. I'd like to think that he secretly loves that he got to wipe out so many batarians in the end.

It was a slippery slope in ME2. Once you started renegade it was so easy to continue. But it was an Arnold movie.

Yeah, ME2 Renegade FemShep was on them PMS pills all of the time! It was pretty easy to continue, but FemShep bein' an a** wasn't really how my FemShep is like. FemShep is good at being both Renegade and Paragon. MaleShep is boring as a Paragon, but is more interesting as Renegade.

Yeah, death and one-liners did seem to go hand in hand in ME2.

"How about 'goodbye'."

"You talk too much" [SET_AFLAME]

Though with the second one, no matter how paragon I go, that's an option I must always choose. It's just too good to pass up, though sometimes it's worth skipping that interrupt to hear the extent of the clan spokesman ranting.

Yeah, like when femShep does the little things like sells the off world pass to the Asari. Helps out the Quarian. Only kicks Conrad. Finds the locket. Gives medigel to the Salarian. Plays the practical joke on the Krogan. Let's the Batarian die... (oops). Hugs Tali in her moment of despair. You know, the little things like that. They make her not a monster.

ME1(90/10), ME2 (75/25), ME3 (75/25)

I just can't bring myself to play as renegade in the Mass Effect games. Some renegade decisions are completely justifiable...but many choices....I just can't do it (especially in ME1). I tried to play renegade for a while, but started to feel bad pretty soon (didn't like my Shepard) and failed spectaculary...

Me: Okay, I think I'll kill the rachni queen!
Liara: The queen has done nothing wrong and wants to live in peace
Me: But...I wanted...to do this differently...
Liara: Shepard...
Me: *releases Rachni queen*

Some interrupts are of course just too funny to not take, that's why I'm a bit more renegade in ME2/ME3.
