But there are also a few paragon options I hate. I didn't really like for example how preachy ME2 Paragon Shepard sometimes was, especially with Mordin. And I pick some renegade interrupts here and there (You talk too much!).

I actually thought that the moral speeches fitted paragon quite well, and they somewhat remind me of captain picard's moral speeches in tng.

Lean paragon but use renegade interrupts when appropriate.

"NEW" Mass Effect should stop utilizing Paragon and Renegade and just let us pick dialogues.

I find my Sheps usually making Paragon persuades, with big choices being Renegade. They're suboptimal, but that makes better drama. Nobody wants to hear about the hero who always wins. Or at least I don't.

Conversely, it can become contrived to see how much the universe hates a character or how stupid a character can become for the sake of it.

Renegade in ME 1, Paragon in ME 2, and try to mix both equally in ME 3

I think ME3 had it right in that regard. Story-wise, P/R was at most cosmetic since they aren't separated anymore and give you a singular reputation increase to unlock persuasion options. But there are changes in the universe in how characters perceive you if you go one way or the other. For example Liara has different lines for renegades and paragons during the time capsule scene, I thought that was a nice touch. Or the Shepard VI... ;)

I cracked up when I met my renegon Shep's VI.

"I find the best advanced battlefield strategy is to have more bullets than the other guy. Technically it’s thermal clips, not bullets. But who says 'I filled them with 5 detachable heat-sinks'? Wait, wait. Forget the mech. Stick me on one of those flying drones and stick a CAIN ON IT!"

I find ME1 Renegade Shepard to be a bit too much of a douchebag for my tastes, at least in the ordinary conversations. ME2's a bit better there.

My favorite system was in Dragon Age 2 where instead of paragon/renegade the protagonist had a personality determined by which of 3 dialogue possibilities you chose most often; Diplomatic, witty, and aggressive. It unlocked unique options for each personality and set the tone for their auto-dialogue. Maybe Mass Effect 4 should use this.

I liked the system as well, as it would let you be a total hard ass, but still do the "paragon" thing.

Yeahh, I could live with that system as well. I found it frustrating that ME compels you to be one-dimensional. You save the most lives by either being 100% paragon or renegade, which is kind of bull. 80/20 personalities are much more interesting/realistic/compelling, yet they are less rewarding in terms of outcomes IMO.

I don't go paragon or renegade. I choose the dialogue that matches what I think/want to say. A lot of the time that ended up being paragon though.

I enjoyed DA2's system a great deal, though at times it could definitely use some refinement. I was amused enough not to care too much about its issues though.

I felt that ME3 improved upon the R/P system by leaning more toward this, because Renegon can be little more than a personality change without actually taking the Renegade paths in the major plot points of the story. I certainly couldn't do it in ME2.

I have 4 pure paragon and 4 pure renegade Shepards. I have no problem picking all the blue or red charm/intimidate options for them. I only have 2 characters that are an even 50/50 for paragon/renegade.

I'm a paragade so I use whatever whenever I basically get asked the question or get placed in the situation and do what comes naturally for me to do. Which is a reason why the hints need to make sense to the action that happens if I pick para he she/he kicks someone in the shins it doesn't make sense when all that person did was make a terrible joke to my hero.

I prefer to be a renegade to the world and a paragon to my squad. I also never met a renegade interrupt that I didn't like or regretted using.
