I've been seeing a lot of threads asking about gender/race/class/personality, but none about age! I think the age of the PC is integral to who they are and their outlook on life.

Right now I am thinking that my Inquisitor will be 28. They will be old enough to have experienced life and have had enough time to gain the importance that is necessary to be at the peace talks at Andraste's Ashes. It also will mean that they have lived for a long time under the previous order where the chantry controlled mages. They also would have been active in the mage v. templar war from the start when they were 27. It also means that they were 17 at the time of the blight. So they are old enough to clearly remember what happened and know who the warden is and the adversity they faced.

My human might be something like myself. Early-mid 30s.

I'd like a young pissed off elf as well. Maybe not a teen, but not much better.

Assuming they actually let us decide that ourselves this time, I'd say around 38. I'd like her to be older than past PCs - Warden who I pictured around 22, and Hawke who was about 25 in act 1 I believe.

Enough with the youngins, I say. :S

Young 20s, probably. I connect more with younger people, probably because I'm only 18 myself.

EDIT: Actually, 25 or 26 sound like good ages to me. Probably 25.

Well, like in P&P, most cRPGs have the standard starting age in the late teens (or equivalent for races that age faster or slower). DA:O and DA2 had clear story reasons for that, but I don't really see them being as much of a factor in DA:I, meaning this time you could probably mentally nudge up your character's age some more than previously with little to no contradictions in your backstory or how people react to you. Still, in my mind I probably won't go higher than mid-twenties.

Given he is likely to be aimed at cass now that sera ain't available, I'm thinking early thirties rather than twenties now.

Somewhere in his thirties. I'd rather go with someone more experienced this time. And it's not like a character in his late thirties to early forties can't be extremely badass.

have they said if we can choose age?

I'd go with late 20s to early 30s.

Mid-twenties. I normally prefer to play characters around that age.

I prefer young characters so i would put 20-23 for my character but inq may be in range 20-40 as bio said.

Well when we can't tell something about warden age besides he was rather young for example toolset shows them as 20 years old (but it isn't known if it is real age as other characters age is not real ) it seems that mage warden may be older than hawke. Only hawke if wiki says truth had specified how old s/he was.

The toolset ages were stated to be rough ranges for the voice actors to shoot for, rather than actual canon ages. So I just tend to base the Warden's age range off the rough ages of his/her childhood friends in the Origin stories.

Like Tamlen, for example, who is in the early 20s range. Hence, for the Warden, she was probably close to that, so around 22-23.

Early thirties. Most of the main characters in Inquisition seem to be around that age so the Inquisitor probably should be as well.

I'd say 30's to 40's. I like the idea of an inquisitor who has already seen a bit of the world and is experienced.

Yes i know that but unlike rest the warden isn't voiced well if you don't count gameplay screams that not necessary have to fit to how do you play your warden. For now it is rather impossible how old warden was we can guess only all we know is that he isn't too old and few informations like in amell warden case.

Hm...

Still debating/deliberating/thinking on that...but I will probably go with what I often do: Very young (I am in my twenties...but I am thinking like a person a lot younger...I was always a late bloomer and I am glad that I am (and I am not a very serious person - I am not a practical joker or someone who laughs about everything, but I only take certain things really hard)...I wouldn't want it any other way...maybe I am compensation for myself being a kind of a buzzkill (in the way that while I am not taking stuff hard, I can't totally let go either...I can't drink till I lose my faculties etc. I just can't....)...not in the way that I hate parties or fun, but in the way that letting go is hard for me, too (same as being totally serious all the time))...say around 18-20 (because that's essentially still me...me from a few years ago (I am over 25...enough said ^^))

greetings LAX

ps: I don't like grizzled old guys all that much :( (not that I hate old people...I love my grandma for example :)

well that all depends on what your take on 'fantasy setting ageing' is.
If you go in for the more 'realistic life expectancy' of say a medieval kingdom, most people weren't expected to live past 27.
In fact being in your mid 20s made you pretty damn old and past it. Keeping in mind, you'd be popping out kids at 12.

So if you go in for that the Warden him or herself would of been most likely 15. After all Anora was married at 13, and most likely only 16/17 during DA:O

But if you say you believe that some how Thedas, has health care that puts it on par with modern age, and life expectancy is on kin with it is today, then we get into narrative story ageing. If that's the case it depend on how 'experienced' our hero is.
If this was say only 20 years ago an inexperienced hero was in his late teens, so you'd say 18/19, veteran mentor characters would be mid 30s.
Now adays because of childhood creep, inexperienced hero tend to start early to mid 20s, veteran mentor characters now pushing 40 to 50.

So really, the age of the character really depends on your own personal take. We won't be told a set age simply because you can custom make your face, and making them look old as balls, with grey hair would really not work well if they were said in game to be only 21.

IN Short; like a lot of thinks in DA, up to the player.

I'm 18 so I would want the Inquisitor to be 18 but Mr Mike Laidlaw said this http://dragonaging.t...r-of-dragon-age. So i guess 21-24 cause I relate to young characters and also cause I like the sense of journey from being young to being old.

I believe Anora is said to have been approaching 30, and had been married for five years at that point without an heir. The Wardens were just coming of age, as it were, but were still adults. While 15 was close enough way back when in our world, I'll take a guess based on the lore and information available that adults in this case were early 20s.

Mid to late 30s, to stay in line with the rest of the cast and the previous heroes.
