I'm humorously surprised by how literal some people have taken this question!

I don't think we will be able to select our age, but I like to imagine/roleplay the age :]

For past reference: in my head my Cousland Warden was 22, my Elf Mage Warden was 19, and both of my Hawkes progressed through the ages of 22-32 throughout the game.

Whatever age BioWare decides.

According to some of the interviews I read, the median age is about 20-40 years old.   :D

Mine is going to be in her early 30s, just a bit younger than Hawke was when she disappeared.

My first inquisitor is probably going to be somewhere around 25 years old.

I'm probably going to make my first Inquisitor around the 35-36 range. I want my Inquisitor to be around the same age as my Hawke and my Warden.

Given that BioWare has opted to set a general range instead of an actual number like they did with Shepard, I'm opting to go for 30 - 40. No younger than 30, certainly.

I generally aim for a younger age, but I'm waiting until the various origin details are known before I pinpoint anything specific.

Honestly, the only character I've pinpointed an age for was my Surana, being age 20 as of the start of Origins. Never even considered how old Hawke would be, even ignoring the time skips.

That 20-40 range seems about right.  It gives a bit of flexibility so you can imagine your PC is at the younger or older end of the scale and it still won't seem odd in terms of conversation, companion reactions, etc.    Any younger and I would imagine there would be comments about their age, which would probably also be the case if they were very much older.

I always imagine the Warden to be in late teens, early twenties.    In the Mage origin you are just taking your harrowing, which happens pretty early on.   The reason Jowan is getting so jittery is that he is getting a bit old for someone who has not yet done it.    The City Elf is about to be married and it seems likely that this is encouraged pretty early.   Since the Dalish Warden had not yet married, I took that to mean they were still quite young.   I'm pretty sure that a marriage would have been arranged for the young Cousland if they were any older since marriage is generally about cementing alliances.   In fact I recall that  there had been talk of male Cousland with Delilah Howe.

Hawke starts off in their early to mid twenties, which would make them in their early thirties by the end of the game.

I think I shall play my first Inquisitor as late twenties/early thirties so they have a bit of experience of life and it makes it believable if they seem to be able to cope with the role thrust upon them.  However, if I find that the dialogue seems to allow for someone a bit younger and inexperienced, who is not so comfortable in the role, then I'll try that second.

Assuming they actually let us decide that ourselves this time, I'd say around 38. I'd like her to be older than past PCs - Warden who I pictured around 22, and Hawke who was about 25 in act 1 I believe.

Enough with the youngins, I say. :S

I kinda like this idea as well. I don't know how old the Warden and Hawke will be around DA: I, but It would be cool if the Inquisitor can be around that age as well.

As much as l'd love a cougar romance with Cassandra, I'd prefer to let my protagonists stay in line with the cast when it comes to age.

Mage would be early 20's. Warrior would be early 30's.

I'll assume she's about the same age as me (27) until a possible back story proves otherwise. Like, in DA:O it seems like 27 would be too old for some of the origins.

That's one of the things I enjoy about RPG's; everyone has a different mental picture of their character. I'll play the Inquisitor as someone close to my age. I suspect my niece won't play him/her the same way.

As a younger guy (22) I struggle to envision characters around my age saving the world. If i'm able to, i'm going to headcannon my Inquisitors being in their late thirties/early forties.

Old enough to be wise and experienced, young enough to still be able to grow and learn.

If you are going to lead an organization like the Inquisition with multiplie problems and situations to tackle, having certain assets and skills of your own will come in handy when being the patriarch of the order. Having the opportunity to learn from others around you, your surroundings, events and as well as your mistakes will further develop you as a person.

That at least is my goal and hopefully DAI will provide.

I'm 23, but I'm bumping my characters' ages up a bit (25-30) so that they were old enough to understand everything that's happened in the timeframe of the series so far. Might even make a character I imagine to be in their mid 30's, eventually. Just so they can be on par with most of the other characters ages.

I am 18 Years old. I feel uncomfortable playing Characters more than, say, five Years older than me (just like I hope the Companion's Ages aren't specifically stated, because I'd feel uncomfortable with my young Inquisitor surrounded by mostly much older People, not even talking about Romance).

Generally, they incorporate the Mindset of People who have more or less "just left Home and now come in Contact with the real World". This resonates for Example, good with the Mage Warden or the dwarven Noble who gets his first Commando in the Beginning. Hawke of course is another Thing, since a Warrior (and Rogue?) is specifically stated to have fought in Ostagar. So I imagine it always like this was their first real Battle at the Age of 20 (and Carver is not much younger, maybe a Year) and they're 27 Years old at the End of the Game. My Inquisitor will probably be somewhere between 20 and 25 as well, what fits more will win out.

My first inquisitors will probably be about the same ages as the older companions, around 40-ish.

My Inquisitor will be around my age 28, 29. I think that's old enough to be an experienced mage and to have seen most of the mage/templar war, blights.
