I know it is probably too late to bother suggesting new things to be implemented into the game, but this one is fairly simple and they may yet be able to do this.

All I would like is to be able to not have to actually switch to the rogue when not in combat in order to pick locks or disarm traps.

In combat you should still have to do so, but when in exploration mode it is just busy work to have to switch to the rogue and then back to your character (and I find it rather annoying as well), or always run around with the rogue and then switch to your character when combat starts.

This does not seem like a huge thing to add and it would make not being a rogue a whole lot less tedious while exploring.

Sure, let's also have the rogues cast spells and the mages use warrior talents. :P

It may not be a huge thing to add but it's kinda silly tbh, better to implement some sort of lockbash option, if it must be implemented.

Plus... how much work is it really to switch characters? :/

I thought the op meant they wanted the rogue you have in your party to automatically walk up and unlock things you click on instead of just going "I can do that for you" while you uselessly click on the door.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

There was a mod for Origins that did that actually, now that would indeed be nice.

It would be nice if there was a way to set up trap detection>Disarm tactics.  It's always really annoying in Dragon age 2 when Varric says something about a trap and then he happily walks right into it.  :-/

This is why, on your completionist play-through, you should always, always, play a rogue.

Unopened chests make me crazy.

Yep, my first is normally the rogue class then mage or mage then rogue. Warrior is always the last I play.

Id prefer if locks or traps are nearby and known, the companion rogue could/should take care of it without my say so. Less of course there is a battle.

In DA2, when running into a mob, trap spotted, I try for the rogue to disarm first. Cut scene with a trap explosion is crazy, saw that once. :)

Meeeeh I dunno. If it were that easy to have the rogue in your party open locks, then what good would it be playing a rogue yourself?

Unless they make the rogue class a bit better in Inquisition. I'd like to WANT to play that class for something other than just opening locks.

Lock bash would be awesome for other classes, of course with a risk of damaging the goods inside.

I love the rogue class more than the other two. :)

Unopened chests are a metaphor for the Mysteries of Thedas.

Why does this sound like me  :D . Any chest, dresser, basket, etc. must be opened, it's an exploration/RPG thing of mine much to my detriment in the game Divinity Original Sin where taking or even opening people's lockers is seen as stealing (naturally so, but still the loot...)

My first play through in both Origins and DA2 was a rogue because of this very reason, hate to see unopened chest go by when you get put into areas where you don't have access to a rogue. Thankfully it is usually early in the game so doing my mage and warriors play throughs are not completely upsetting. But sometimes you get put into portions of the game where you are alone, and you miss them without being a rogue at those times. This did not happen so much in DA2 but it happened a few times in Origins.

But this is not really the point of my OP. I did not mean non rogues being able to pick locks and such. I meant, not having to switch characters in order to do so when not in combat.

I don't always respond to threads, but when I do I miss the point completely.
