I wish to replay my canon Hawke who romanced Fenris, got dumped, and then moved onto Isabela for the rest of the game. However, first time round I dealt with a bug that in Act 2 characters acted like I was still in a romance with Fenris when I already moved onto Isabela. Specifically, Aveline in The Long Road mentions this and Fenris comforts Hawke after All That Remains when Leandra dies. That I especially didn't like. In Act 3 everything was fine except Merrill made a banter comment to Fenris about him being in love. These aren't big bugs but I'd like to avoid them if possible. Is there some specific line of dialogue in the Fenris romance or something that can avoid this problem?

After you sleep with Fenris, and he gives you the 'it's not you, it's me' speech, you need to select "you're ending it?" which will officially end the romance. Then you can move onto Isabela without it still thinking you're in a Fenrismance.

Thanks. An issue is that I've heard (and experienced to some degree) that clicking that option puts Fenris in a sort of limbo where characters will act like you're in a Fenris romance but the Act 3 option to rekindle the relationship won't show up. I experienced this when he said things like "I remain at your side" and "I enjoy following you" afterwards until Merrill moved in. The "moving in" thing seems to lock out all other romances without bugs.
