This has been on my mind for awhile. I am wondering if we will still have to deal with our hair clipping through armor and

maybe even weapons. Some hairstyles clipped through my PC's face in Origins as well as her armor/certain kinds of mage robes. In

DA2 most hair styles clipped BADLY if hawk turned her head a certain way. I mean for most of the game I am going to be seeing the

back of my inquisitor and if I give her a long hairstyle I would really like not to have her hair clipping into her back, armor and or

armor.

In cut scenes (especially romance scenes) it would be really awkward if my Inquisitors hair clipped through her face or armor. I mean

I am sure this isn't a big deal to most and to me its more annoying then anything. I mean no disrespect to bioware, and if I am

coming  off offensive I am sorry. Its just something that has been bugging me and wanted to through my 2 cents out there and here

your thoughts on the subject.

Clipping really depends on when it happens. If you get clipping with hair you can genrally tune it out. The clipping in the dragon fight annoys me no end. It's supposed to be a big epic moment and then you get the character clipping through the dragons head. Not on that.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that clipping is harder to eradicate than the flu. The best we can hope for is for it to be minimal.

Yea during a fight it can be annoying, and I guess your right about the hair thing.

Yea I hope they fix it at least a little, at least some noticeable improvement!

All depends on the engine really. The engine is responsible for the underlying graphical operations so that they developers don't have to. I would look at the games made with the engine just to get an idea?

I'm sure it'll be better than it has been in the past, to some degree. Clipping really doesn't bother me one bit though.

If it's still not working well in DAI, you might just have to go for short hairstyles. :(

I wouldn't want to get too fussy about clipping, because the cure is liable to be reduced character customisation.

But hair clipping through the face would certainly get annoying during cutscenes.  And clipping with weapons stowed on the character's back while running gets annoying because you're likely going to be looking at it for most of the game.

Yea short hairstyles look to be the way to go if we are still haveing clipping issues. I think that's why they gave the female qunari mage in the demo short hair!

True, too True. I mostly wanted to voice my concern and maybe get some feedback from bioware on the issue. If there is a great deal of clipping I will deal with it and move on.

Unless it's REALLY apparent in a cutscene, I don't mind. It doesn't take me out of the atmosphere, personally.

I hate that clipping is even an issue, because the desire to avoid clipping creates so many design restrictions.

In DA2, I used the Diversified Follower Armour mod (I can't imagine playing without it), and as a result the characters weren't always wearing armour the cinematic designers had considered. Fenris, in particular, repeatedly clipped through his armour with his exaggerated head and neck movements.

It made me wonder if clipping was the actual design motive behind the companions' fixed appearances. And that made me angry.

Trying to make things look pretty costs us so much.

I know how one could be easily inclined to think that as we move forward, issues like clipping will be reduced, but I'm inclined to think the opposite. Not because technology hasn't improved. It certainly has. But because of how ambitious devs are in trying to utilize it.

More customization, bigger areas, higher resolution, more detailed textures, a more interactive environment with weather effects. Devs (in general, not just Bioware) seem to be trying to make everything more impressive by adding more, rather than fine tuning what we already have. And all these extra features, I imagine, would add more possibilities for clipping, and use just as much resources (both hardware limitations and development resources) that a measure to avoid clipping would use.

I hope DAI proves me wrong, that they can both add all these new features and reduce graphical hiccups like clipping. But I won't be too disappointed if Bioware can't do both, as my expectations are more or less in check with regards to this issue.

The only thing that's REALLY bothered me thus far was those GINORMOUS pauldrons in Origins where if you shrugged you should have smashed your own head like a grape in a nutcracker.  Everything else just pales in comparison.

Have you ever played World of Warcraft? Try jumping with an Orc sometime... You'll understand why most Orcs are so dumb >.>

Anyways, all games with a great deal of customization end up having clipping issues. Unfortunately the devs can't model everything around each and every detail to a perfect degree. If they were to do that, we'd never see the game.

Unfortunately you might just have to deal with it. However, it is also a trial by error sort of thing, so I'm going to say it's safe to assume that they have learned from their previous games a bit and will be making great strides to correct the issues (that they know they can) in a timely matter.

They can't make everyone happy, but they can make most of us! :)

P.S I do feel your pain on clipping, sometimes it irks me as well, but I think having the ability to make my character represent me as much as possible via a magnitude of customizing options is well worth the few annoyances clipping makes me suffer :P

This is also one of my main concerns, but like I said I will just deal with it I guess. I don't plan on letting clipping ruin my game experience.

Clipping is a far distant issue for me, though I can see where some visuals can create a distraction. For me, it was in DAO while watching mauls smash into the lower back when running around the world; stuck to greatswords after a couple of hours of watching that.

It is almost the same in music; only when something creates a distraction from the game does the soundtrack bother me, A good background track is almost not noticed unless listened for in pleasure. IMO.

I love clipping.

I want MORE clipping in DA:I then in all the previous game.

That would be awesome.

I actually took the time to finally watch the 18min Dwarquisitor Video that will inevitably be taken down again, and I have to say, I think the "dragon Clipping" complaints were way overblown. I was expecting like the character to be partially or mostly clipped into the dragon itself, I wasn't expecting literally three frames of camera clipping as the dragon's head briefly intersected the line of sight.
