I'm planning to play as a Templar at some point, so I hope they do a good job with this. In addition to NPCs we meet during quests and out in the world, we have both companions and advisors who will likely have strong feelings one way or the other. It would be nice to have some brief dialogues with them where we can discuss our thoughts on the spec, such as whether we follow the path due to practicality, religious fervor, a mixture of both, or some other reason entirely. I expect that it will be well done considering we are limited to a single spec this time around... if it's barely mentioned or only results in a minor side quest, it won't have been worth giving up the power that comes with dual spec'ed chars.

Thanks General TSAR, the wiki confirms it as well, but no further data. But I'm happy that it's still an option.

I'll feel more justified in sending out Cullen to wipe out mage resistance if I play a Templar.... I really wish there was an Apostate Origin.... oh well

Well, the human noble is technically an apostate since their background involves fleeing from and possibly fighting Templars who are trying to kill them. The Dalish and Tal-Vashoth mages are also apostates, but were never targeted by people trying to put them in the Circle... I expect a mage Inquisitor will have a lot to say to Cullen, Vivienne, and possibly Casandra about that.

I think that Cassandra will be a little bit more lenient on the mage more than Cullen and Vivienne... maybe?
I'm not sure what I want to play as first....

Off the fun bags of lay sisters.
Now that would make a great addition to a Templar victory.
But in all seriousness, I would like to see NPCs to comment on my spec.

@General TSAR: Oh, I'm very serious. I really hope they delve into addiction with the Templars at some point - and this game kinda "delves into the addiction of Templars" so there's that.
I would love to have cut scenes where the Main Protagonist is somehow taking in lyrium... my vote it to make it as visceral as possible and relate it to a real world drug.
Snorting - shooting - or sitting in steam houses with lyrium/coal steam braziers breathing in the vapors.
Not that it matters, but this isn't because I'm some pro-drug dude or something - in fact, extremely anti-drug - but it's another one of those things about DA that attracts me and I'd like to see it explored.

I want at the very very least for Cullen to acknowlege his lyrium addiction for what it is, like Evangeline does in Asunder. If we can learn and use Templar powers in game, and even roleplay as actual Templars or recruits if we want (since it's directly supported by the human background), I'd like to be able to talk to Cullen about the reality of his, and potentially our, addiction, how one may handle the lyrium better or worse, the toll it can take on your health and sanity, etc.
Well BW is going for realism..... I agree it would be an interesting concept

I agree. Bioware should stick to the lore... if Templar abilities are dependent on lyrium, the game should reflect that. Having this be relevant only to NPCs and characters in books is a bit jarring.

I think they said specializations won't have any unique conversations. But your class will. (Warrior,Rogue,Mage)

Not surprising, they gotta focus on writing cringe-worthy romance lines.

Templars "ingest" lyrium, which for me seems to imply that they drink or eat it.
