Flemeth is old Morrigan. If you fail in Inquisition, Thedas will be destroyed at the end. In the last seconds Morrigan is able to step through an Eluvian in the past. Your mission in Inquisition is to break that circle.

but you see if the OGB was that important to the plot they wouldn't have made it optional and they wouldn't have said that they were getting less likely to bring him back as a major plotline.

Please elaborate? I thought the Eluvian allowed travel to far destinations and not time travel per se.

I think Flemeth was Andraste`s mother, actually. Andraste being "a Morrigan". Who knows. The OP`s theory is a good one.
