I've become fairly accustomed to european release's being a few days after America,

With DA: I Release is 7th Oct

For most of Europe is the 9th, but how come for the UK its the 10th... not going to pretend to understand to specifics as to what goes into world wide distributions for games... but why is UK getting it a day late, when usually they will get it the same date as most of europe

There are many cases in which the UK gets games a day later than Europe. Dragon Age: Inquisition is not the first.

Stupid traditional release days. USA gets Tuesday, UK gets Friday. I'm not sure where Thursday for other parts of Europe came from!

UKs own fault for uniformly agreeing to Friday release back in the day.

It was for sensible reasons back then of course, but with digital distribution at large, there's no reason for stacked release dates anymore.

Standard protocol. I don't know if there is any real reason behind it (there probably is), but it's just the norm.

A really good (and quite long) article which explains it all:

Digital distribution doesn't account for everything though; publishers still need high street retailers to push sales and so long as they do, there will still be regional embargo dates. Hopefully we'll see more same-day releases in the future though.

It's actually an interesting read, I'll see if I can find it.

I'm just hoping that they get dispatched so lots of us in the UK can get it a day early :D I got ME3 early.
Sometimes I get games 2 days early when I'm lucky so fingers crossed for all of us!

It's not just in the UK. It's releasing in the 10th of October in other places as well (where I live in Europe for example).

Nice read thanks. And yes we gamers don't care why, there is no good reason why we all can't get game same day. And people wonder why everyone on internet hate America so much.

Exactly so there is no reason why DA can't.

I have no idea what the rules are. We often get games on tuesday but those are also genrally big releases. Warner being the SoM publisher may have something to do with it.

I'd say that with DA:I kind of works in our favour. Plenty of time to cancel pre-orders if it turns out to be another DA2.

It's not just in the UK. It's releasing in the 10th of October in other places as well (where I live in Europe for example).

That's odd, a lot of stores (including Origin!!) held the 10th over here in The Netherlands as well. And now it has been changed to the 9th all of a sudden (except for bol.com at the moment). I mean I'm sure the release date was 10-10 on Origin (or did I just imagine that?).

By the way The Netherlands is one of those countries on mainland Europe, like Belgium, Germany, and France, which has release-Thursday, though more and more releases since a few years have been released on UK's Friday, even when they released in the US on a Tuesday.

I would prefer games would release on Friday.

I'm gonna have a busy week on the 7th...and having that giant case of DAI just...sitting there...ugh, my colon.

Some games (usually "bigger" titles) will get a simultaneous release worldwide. Sometimes it's a Tuesday and sometimes it's a Friday.

It doesn't make any sense to me either.

Still shows 10/10 on the site I'm getting it from, maybe it's a mistake? I'm pretty sure my country has Thursday as the 'new stuff' day as well. But regardless, I plan on calling the store from 7/10 in case I can convince them to give me the game early (since it'll be in storage).

That happened to me too! Gamestop shipped it early so I'd get it on time but since they were shipping it from their Irish depot I got it the day before. It was so awesome!  :D

I'm getting DA:I for PC so I've ordered it from Origin. My plan is to pre-load it as soon as its available and wake up at 5/6am for a full weekend of DA:I, were sleep is for the weak.  :P

It's possible the store didn't update it yet (like I wrote, at least one online store here still bears 10/10 still).
You can check Origin if that says 9/10: www.origin.com if you don't have it installed.
