it is really strange, but I am really looking forward to the reveal of the other 6 specializations. I forget where, but there is a mention of getting them after you start, and very curious how exactly that is going to work.

Champion has already seemed to have been changed from a buffing tree to a defensive one.

Templar I am hoping will have a bit more up its sleeve then in origins, also maybe some intresting out of combat effects

Reaver, i desperately want more lore on Reaver, the idea of more lore(maybe even meeting one for once?) and having the game respond to that may be fun.

Artificer, sounds like a rogue with a lot of points put into traps, very interesting on how they might make it dynamic.

Tempest- Have no idea, sounds like duel-wielding which is a bit disappointing since I was hoping for something that makes the archer shine more, but still interesting and hopefully intriguing.

Assassin: Had a bit of a duel wield bent in the past, I hope that disappears. Perhaps even a society to work for? I like the idea of a hero that is beholden to bad guys.

Knight Enchanter: Seems a less overpowered and more lore friendly arcane warrior. Eventually I will have to play a Female Qunari Knight Enchanter just because it seems to break every rule for the Qunari XD

Rift Mage- i am just curious exactly what it does. It has replaced the healing spec and curious what it can do or even what kind of spec. Also curious how we learn it.

Necromancer- The new "evil" spec. I have done zombies before and was...disappointed. i am hoping that they might combine entropy with the so so Arcane line that gave you the zombie. I am definitely intrigued by it.

What about you guys?

As one who like to plan out my character in advance I couldn't agree more. The more information on the specializations the better, I would like for them to reveal the individual skills also to be honest

I have to admit I really plan the character around their specialization (When I can, rogues often lack story around their specializations) I hope for all of them to be given some weight, which would be really cool. Also a tiny bit disappointed about getting them later, as that implies it wont have as much weight on our characterization.

I mean, the Warden wasnt really an assassin, they learned from Zevran or learned it by osmosis by training killing bad guys(lol) Gladly take races any day over specialization effects, BUT it would be the coolest thing to have to join the Templars to become one. To work at assassination for a group before assassinating. Even become a student of someone. It just would be cool for there to be some interactivity for the character.

Anyone else want to rip out a dragon's beating heart and feast on it? Or did I just out-weird BSN?

I want to know about the specs really badly.

I still don't know what a Rift Mage is.  I pretty much do the same as you and plan to RP characters around their spec.

This is more important than romance info...I wonder if there's a chart?

That artificer class is something I am looking forward to actually.

Shadow on frostbite 3 will be so awesome.

I liked the fact that in Origins on the whole you either learnt the spec from one of your companions or had to do a deal with someone (usually a bad guy or demon) in order to get it.   Alternatively, you at least had to find a book that you learnt it from.    Whilst it might be a bit frustrating not to be able to start the spec until you do, it did make it seem more realistic that you had to learn from someone or something, not just miraculously know what to do when you reached a certain level.

In DA2 I assumed that you learnt Spirit Healer from Anders, Blood Magic from Merrill and had some notes from Malcolm Hawke about how to be a Force Mage but I never really worked out where the specs for the other classes came from but thought that perhaps Hawke had learned a few things during their time as a mercenary or smuggler.

This time round I think they could certainly accommodate you learning the various specs from your companions.   Vivienne would teach Knight Enchanter, Dorian would be Necromancer and Solas probably Rift Mage.   Blackwall would be Champion, Cassandra would do Templar skills and Iron Bull would have Reaver.   That would leave Varric to teach you Artificer, Cole would be Assassin, which leaves Tempest for Sera (so yes it would be something to do with archery - think Storm of Arrows and you get the idea).   You certainly wouldn't need two dual wielding specs and as you say, Assassin has always been associated with dual wielding - it's why it is such an awesome combination.

I have a nasty feeling that information is going to come at the rate of one major reveal per month.    So the next big reveal on specs will be Templar, Necromancer and  Tempest, matching Cassandra, Dorian (who will be the next character reveal) and Sera,  thus leaving the last 3 reveals to include the only characters that have yet to be given any attention (outside of Asunder) Cole and Solas plus information on Reaver for Iron Bull.

Personally, range suits more for assassination to me and I have always been dissapointed that it did not accomodate it very well.

I don't remember having to learn the specializations at all in DA2. If I recall correctly, they just showed up in your list of options when you finished your year of servitude.

Yep count me in for that too!

But since we will have larger areas, I wonder if there will be more emphasis placed on "scouting".

Man I am just thinking of how this could be utilized during a night time area. Shadow would be so great for this

I think s/he was referring to how s/he "headcannoned" learning them.

I don't know if we will be able to conquer a keep single-handedly while using an equivalent of cloak and laying traps everywhere but that would be pretty fun.

The appeal of playing a rogue is also being able to do silly things like this.

I've kept myself in the dark about this game as much as possible and recently couldn't take it any more so I appologize for my ignorance ahead of time.

Will there be a Ranger style class? From what I have read, there won't be much as for Archers?

No ranger. Rogue specs are Assassin, Artificer, and tempest. We really don't know at all  what tempest is, so it could be something that heavily supports archery. We also don't know what the archery tree looks like, so it could actually be good this time. Sera uses an explosive arrow ability in the demo, so something like burst arrow is in.

Yeah, maybe it's like..super fast attacking. Like, more arrows shot quicker, more damage all-around.

I'm definitely going mage first. Super excited to learn what a Rift Mage is. I do have to say, the artificer could be fun (although I imagine there would be better specs..traps and whatnot in DA:O - to me - felt a little..gimmicky. Fun to use, but it's sometimes just easier to pew pew them down).

I'm going to miss Berserker. It was my favorite warrior spec in DA2 and second favorite in DA:O.

I really want to know what Tempest is about. It sounds like an offensive duelist.

Well we know that the demon portals are called 'rifts', so if I had to guess, it would probably involve summoning a lot of demons.

In terms of marketing reveals, yeah, this is something I want to see sooner than usual.  Some of the stuff that generates the most enthusiasm from me are things like talent trees released ahead of time.  Blizzard will release talent calculators of classes ahead of release.  I know with Diablo 3, I just clicked around on them and thought about all sorts of combinations ahead of release.  I'm pretty sure it was a huge waste of time, but I liked it anyway.  And I did the same thing with Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age II.  But instead of Bioware releasing I'd have to do printouts of things forum posters had written down based on demos they'd seem at game expos they'd attended.  I'd rather Bioware just put it on their site.  It doesn't diminish enthusiasm for a game.  I'm pretty sure it increases it amongst a certain crowd.
