Yes, I know, I started more VA topics here than probably anyone else. And yet there is another one. What is the harm in knowing voice actors? It does not spoil anything about the game. You do not even have to mention characters, just the actors. For some of us it's a special fun - hunting for familiar voices among characters.

Voicing is a huge thing in BW games yet it always looks like the last thing PR department cares about. In some cases you even can not get information about the actors months after release. Like if some movie director would say - forget about the actors, you do not have to know the names, look only at characters. As much as it might be the whole idea of that VA ignoring, have a mercy for those curious! Give us something!

So far all we know is VA for returning characters and one out of 4 Inquisitor voices. Definitely not enough!

Maybe because they don't want people to start spamming and bothering all the VAs that have twitter and stuff.

Yay another stupid thread.

When will people realise. You can post once or a thousand times. Requests for the revealing of game information is just ignored.

Bioware like all game developers along with their marketing department will have a timeline for releasing information. And that will not change based on forum posts.

The idea is they give us a trickle of info on a regular basis. Just enough to keep us wanting more. That way when the game releases we are desperate to see it all

I think it's to prolong hype for the game before it comes out? Or something like that. I'm not a game developer by any means, so I can't say for certain. But at conventions, developers have tried to explain it to fans. From what I've gathered, the marketing team delicately has the team release a little bit of information at a time. Too much info all at once, and we'll be overwhelmed with excitement and then move on as time goes on. A little bit of info throughout the year and a half up into release, allows people to keep talking about the game and get more and more excited. :)

The VA info-bomb might be saved until soon before release, only because it's information that people don't get particularly hyped up about? (Again, I'm no game developer or marketer so I'm just speculating.) Are we fascinated about knowing? Hell yeah we are. But maybe not as much as say, wanting to know about gameplay elements or who the characters even are first, etc. I'm sure we'll find out more information about VAs soon, since we already are finding out about some. I'm so excited to have Alix Wilton Regan as one of the female Inquisitor voices.

Another question, what is the harm of waiting till the game is released before knowing everything?

I find really fascinating the differences between VA treatment in Japanese RPGs to Western ones. In a lot of VA'd JRPGs the VAs are a massive part of the marketing and are often  displayed on the back of the game boxes. In the West it seems to be treated as this inconvenience that you want to hide as long as possible, possibly forever. Even with famous Vas like Martin Sheen in ME2/3, it seemed to be fairly downplayed.

Like if some movie director would say - forget about the actors, you do not have to know the names, look only at characters.

Now that I could get behind, only having to judge and enjoy a character based on their skill, depiction, and portrayal in the movie, without having to be constantly bombarded with "this movie will be fantastic because it has X in it" or "This movie will be terrible because Y can't act worth damn." etc.

In movies I always focus on the characters rather than the actor or actress playing them. Then after I have seen the movie I want to know which of the characters I enjoyed were played by which actor/actress.

I like and have deep respect for the voice actors, but I do not need to know which characters are voice by whom before actually having played the game and heard them in action in that game. Even recognizing them in the game can be great fun as well ^_^

Several of them have been announced, or at least put on various sites, so I suspect if they have not been revealed it is for a reason or the people have not been cast yet.

It is interesting. I guess its just seen that people knowing your VAs could work for or against you, especially in such an opinionated culture as ours. People get downright obnoxious with what they think is right. From BioWare's perspective its just not worth the hassle of dealing with this stuff ahead of release when people are going to know anyway, and it's too late to do anything about it.

They'll reveal new companions (and perhaps their VA will be clear) during GaymerX, PAX, and other conventions before release.

Makes sense really :)

What I don't understand is why some of you are trying so hard to make the op feel stupid? Shame on you. So what if he wants to know who the voice actors are. So what if he makes a post about it. Bunch of meanie heads.

This! A hundred times this! And it's exactly my point - even after release we do not always know VAs! I would expect it to be like it is in western movies now - promotion using VA. Actually, I do know one game that used that kind of promotion on western market - Elder Scroll Online. Wish it meant we are getting there with every other game.

I want to know too but don't expect it till September MAYBE late August. Marketing departments like to string people along all the way to release so they sav the juicer things closer to launch.

Don't you worry about that. This is BSN, we are all get used to insults. And now on new forums with the lovely "ignore" feature it is much easier to keep you topic as clean as one can wish.
