I actually like the idea of the champions of each class being pitted against each other in the end but mixing them up can always happen in a second tournament
Wow, these are tough.
Leliana - for all of the reasons I've listed for all of her victories. Sten is strong but he wields a 2-hander which is heavier and slower, Leliana would make short work of him, She can close in and get a few quick attacks with her daggers and back away and use her bow. Not to mention she is a bard and can bolster her strength, agility and so on.
Shale - With her skills/abilities (Slam, Quake, Killing blow, etc), Morrigan wouldn't stand a chance. Shale would crush the soft, squishy Morrigan.

Yup. Shale's going to win this. Which is bs. Somehow people have convinced themselves that golems are immortal. Never mind the Warden's/Hawke's party turning dozens into gravel. And let's forget that she fought a 300 year old wizard the previous round. Shale's only unique in that she isn't tied to a control rod. And Leliana beating Sten...
It was a popularity contest Bird. I could have gotten away with saying that Morrigan shapeshifts into a High Dragon for every round. It was still fun though.

Sten is hardly immortal either. He has been beaten by a good number of enemies, going from darkspawn (you killed thousands of those in DA) to Alistair, who seems awfully underrated around these parts ![]()
I agree there's no way Shale would have defeated Zatrhian, though ![]()
But if Sten and Shale make it to the finals, giving the fight to Sten if he can grab a solid blunt object or a warhammer. he have the strength to shatter that golem.
I was actually surprised that both Leliana and Morrigan got this far. I never perceived Leliana as an extraordinary Fighter - Bards are more about Subtlety and Assassination if you ask me - so I was really surprised she even survived the first Round against Varric.
Morrigan on the other Hand is just too ill-defined. I can see were People favouring her are coming from, but, honestly, we don#t know that much of her Abilities beyond shapeshifting and one Ritual here and there. One can say she has Potential but again she is no Flemeth.
I can understand that this seems to be the Finale - Shale as a Golem is especially favoured in Tournament Settings simply because she doesn't tire and is very versatile in the Things she can do - throw giant Boulders, sit through Barrages and especially an Endurance that eclipses all physical Beings.
But, I have to say, I argue solely from a logical Viewpoint and do not factor Gameplay into my Consideration.
Still, my Impression (and Opinion - mostly Opinion -) is, that especially Morrigan and Leliana won by Popularity not by Reason. If you look at Shale's and Sten's Fights they were much closer to "Defeat" in terms of Votes than the other two.

The thing is it also comes to weapons, magic and other things vs armor when I look at things. PArt of why I see Sten winning against someone like the bard comes down to arrows vs plate armor is just ugh...if she was using crossbows would be different story. Think a lot assume plate armor slows you down, but logic and irl plate armor and heavy armor never really slowed down a fit man.

I never thought much of Leliana's combat skills while playing origins, but as the series goes on I'm starting to believe she's been the most skilled rogue we've had so far. She's got more training and experience than most. She has been shown to have good melee skills and is an excellent archer, and on top of that I imagine her bard training makes her amazing at stealth. She pretty much has it all.
Plus look at those moves in the sacred ashes trailer. It may not be canon, but she was pretty damn acrobatic.

I made this thread to see who people think would win in fights. So far I've seen some great arguments on a lot of the fights. I must admit that arguments on fights involving Shale and Morrigan in particular did feel quite weak (in general) when compared to those put forward with other fights, but I can't just not count every vote that seems to fall into that category. That would make it seem like I want certain people to win.
And there will always be a great deal of subjectivity when voting on people in fights. I know I'd have brought Leliana much further into the tournament because I love her so much, even when looking at it objectively.
The only way to completely eliminate stuff like this is if a whole panel of judges were to vote on which votes should be counted. That would require an insane amount of work.

To be fair in the first instance he was taken off guard by an enemy they didnt even know existed, the second one was plot convenience.
With SHale vs Zathrian, yea i dont see how she got through that one. You'd think someone who's effectively made themselves immortal could take out a walking rock
The voting on ROUND 4 is now closed
ROUND 4 - Winners
Fight 1
Leliana - Leliana is both a Seeker and a Bard, trained as she was under Marjolaine, of whom she now carries the bow. During her time with the Hero of Ferelden, she was hardened. Previously in the tournament, Leliana defeated Varric, Isabela, and Sigrun.
vs
Sten - After the Blight and the death of the previous one in Kirkwall, Sten became the new Arishok. He still carries Asalaa, the sword the Warden gave him. Previously in the tournament, Sten defeated, Fenris, Aveline, and Loghain.
Fight 2
Morrigan (DA:O) - Morrigan never went through with the Dark Ritual she offered to the Warden. She holds in her possession her mother's grimoires, which the Warden gave her. She is still a Shapeshifter, as she was during the Blight. Previously in the tournament, Morrigan defeated Grey Warden Bethany, Awakening's Anders, and Merrill (DA2).
vs
Shale - Having traveled with the Hero of Ferelden, Shale knows her true identity, and she has also been equipped with Brilliant Crystals. Previously in the tournament, Shale defeated an Ogre, Cailan the King of Ferelden, and Keeper Zathrian.
This is a hard one, i would've given it to Shale right away because Sten is using a sword, but it is made out of "blue steel" so we can argue that its enough to do significant damage but her fists do damage also.
He has strength of course but he is outmatched in that aspect for once, though ironically he's faster, another advantage being that he has more skill while Shale is essentially just swinging her firsts, he actually knows proper technique question is how effective will that be against a walking boulder.
Experience, i may consider it even because i'd say they have the same amount of battle time with her in the deep roads and in the rebellion, issue is she's been deactivated for long periods of time making her "rusty" compared to being fresh off of those conflicts compared to Sten who's been in conflicts back to back before being caged. It would be different if she wasnt conscious but when deactivated she was aware the entire time. So make of that what you will
I think the determining factor is how much damage would Asala do to a Golem, if we're going by gameplay standards then i say Shale, if we're going a "realistic" approach then i say his swords superior metal would give Sten the win
ROUND 5 - The Final
(IMPORTANT - Read everything before voting!)
My my, ladies and gentlemen, it's been an exciting tournament, with lots of great fights, lots of surprises, but most of all an amazing crowd! Now, join us on the roof of Fort Drakon, where the ballistas have been removed and replaced by stands. The combatants will start the match at a distance of 10 meters away from each other, which is about 33 feet. Both combatants will get an appropriate amount of time to rest from all of their previous fights, which is a few days. This also allows them to mentally prepare for the coming duel. They will fight until the other is no more! The combatants are:
Sten vs Shale
Sten
Famous for being a companion to the Hero of Ferelden, who single-handedly defeated an Archdemon right here on top of Fort Drakon, Sten is a Qunari warrior who trained all his life to kill. After the Qunari Invasion in Kirkwall and the subsequent demise of the then-Arishok, Sten took up the mantle and became the new military leader of those that follow the Qun. Previously in this tournament, Sten shone against Tevinter slave Fenris, who was no match for Sten's strength and skill with a sword. Then he went up against Avelina, Kirkwall's very own Guard-Captain, whom he defeated despite her using the strongest of shields. And after that, Sten came up against Loghain, one of Ferelden's proud heroes who drove the Orlesians out of his country. A renowned tactical leader and great fighter, he proved no match for the best of Qunari warriors. Who in the end, had only Leliana standing in his way to the final. A bard, famous for her cunning and skill with a bow, though her arrows proved to be insufficient to bring down this man, who brought her down after a long and winding battle.
And now, Sten has come to show the world the power of the Arishok, and shame his predecessor who fell at the hands of a Ferelden refugee. As preparation for this fight, Sten has been given a sufficient amount of cookies to eat, and his equipment will be the following (Alistair, Varric, dreadnoughts, guards and the like not included):
Shale
Also famous for accompanying the Hero of Ferelden in the quest to end the Blight, Shale probably is Thedas' most well-known golem. Originally a member of House Cadash, which Shale does remember, she was one of the first to volunteer to become a golem at the hands of the legendary Caridin, who later became a golem himself. Shale has changed 'homes' several times, ending up in the farmers' village of Honnleath before the Warden found her. What makes Shale unique from other golems is that she's not influenced by a control rod, which made her a valuable ally to the Warden's party. Also, she seems to go about her doings in a relatively civilized manner for a golem, though she's pretty much rude to anyone. At the start of this tournament, Shale stood against a mighty Ogre, one of the Darkspawn that flooded Ferelden in 9:30 Dragon. But alas, it was no match for Shale, as she quickly squished it into the ground. After that, Shale fought against Cailan, the now-late King of Ferelden, and gave him a death even more gruesome than the one he already faced before at Ostagar. Then the mage Keeper Zathrian crossed her path, but after a long and tiresome fight he also found death in Shale's rocky fists.
And then only Morrigan, another trusted ally to the Warden-Commander and famed daughter of Flemeth, stood in Shale's way to the final. One of the toughest battles mankind ever had the pleasure - or misfortune, depends on how you look at it. I hear they're still looking for bodies under the rubble at the Gallows - of witnessing, Morrigan's magic eventually proved no mathc for this golem, which surprised the crowd as she smashed the beloved mage in half. I hear King Alistair is throwing a celebratory feast.
And now Shale has left the comfort of victory behind to stand against her former ally Sten, the one she bonded with the most as the two compared the Warden-Commander and his friends to 'monkeys'. Before this fight, Shale has been given enough time to mentally prepare for this fight, and also a great amount of pigeons to smash, as she so eloquently requested - "Get me some of those birds before I smash your head in as well, human." Her equipment will be the following:
Location for those that don't know what the roof of Fort Drakon is
When you cast your vote, write down why you think the person you voted for would win. Only vote on the fights listed below, and not the fights for Rounds 1, 2, 3 and 4. If you fail to give any reasoning or your reasoning sounds like personal preference or mere joking, your votes won't be taken into account when choosing the winner. They also won't be tallied when your reasoning shows that you did not read the entirety of this post, so keep that in mind.
Got it? Then may the best combatant win!
Shale.
Any other outcome is silly. Sten can swing that hammer as often and as hard as he wants. He's trying to hit friggin' ROCK.
If he's far away, shale throws boulders at him. If he's close, she squishes. Case closed.
PS: I'm pretty jelly that sten won against morrigan. I just don't see it happening. Morrigan -> dragon -> done.

Sten - He is his People. The Arishok is not a man, but an idea. The idea that one fulfills his or her duty unflinchingly. An idea whose collective conviction is harder than the stone from which Shale was built. The idea that the impossibility of millions becoming one and imposing order on a chaotic world is not only possible, but Shown and Proven. Arishok is Certainty. In that moment atop Fort Drakon Arishok is the Qun.
This one is rather difficult. I know both have a ton of stamina... but I'm going to give it to Shale. You can smash or slash at a golem all you want, all you're going to do is chip away at her hide. Who knows how long it took Wilhelm to get her to fit through the door? Sten is extremely talented... well trained and intelligent. But he'll tire out before Shale does (she doesn't feel tired, she doesn't sleep). He'll chip away at her with relentless assaults, but I don't think it'll be enough. This is more a battle of attrition then anything.
So... Shale.
Shale.

Sten won against Leliana. Shale won against Morrigan.
Shale - even with that armor sten isn't going to be very maneuverable. Shale literally only has to hit him once and hes done.
Sten - Given what a warhammer is capable of and judging by that image, he would be able to break stone with it. Have to keep in mind warhammers can crush solid steel plate and such, stone would be able to be damage by it plus the crystals even magical that shale uses woulds be damaged by hits by it.
So Sten would win.
But I also offer a third option Shale and Sten got along so well they refuse to fight and shale joins the qun.
I feel like if Shale were going to be defeated, it would have been one by of the mages, though Sten's hammer gives him better odds in my mind than if he were to wield a blade. But I have to give it to Shale still. While not immortal, I think a golem would only be able to be defeated by magic or numbers. A bit of an anti-climactic finish, though I am taking by your tiny note of King Alistair celebrating Morrigan's death that he managed to miraculously survive his fight with Aveline, which ameliorates the situation somewhat.
I have a question for the Qunari...
Yes Golem?
Does it have anything to prevent me from knocking it down when I start throwing boulders at it?
I am indomitable.
So does this indomitable ability prevent it from being stunned when I rock the ground or shout extremely loud when it gets close?
Well...no.
So once it is stunned there is nothing keeping me from just squashing it into so much grey paste with all my power attacks that are coming once it is staggered?
No.
Thank you. That is all. It was fun knowing the Qunari, but now I must squash you like a like bird.
SHALE WINS
Going to go with Shale. They both have a lot of stamina, but Shale doesn't get tired as a golem. They are both powerful, and it would be a very close fight, but I say Shale would sneak past as the winner.
