While i disagreed with some of the Matches in the Middle of the Tournament, which I felt were based on Popularity rather than "Facts", I could have predicted the Finale as well as it's Outcome. After all, I think in the Finale we truly had the lorewise strongest Characters of the ones listed pitted against each other.

As far as another "Tournament" is concerned, I would like to see one solely between NPCs - Companions often descend into petty squabble and Popularity Contests, however factual you want to have it.

Ha! My money was on Shale. Great thread (even though I didn't vote).

I personally had Alistair winning this even though I'm not his biggest fan. But dude got knocked out in the first round. Still great thread. I called Shale winning by votes even though I think Sten would rock Shale to sleep (see what I did there?). I think we should do another full blown tournament if/before  DAIV releases including the Inquisition companions. Littlebird hit me up if you want to do more battles; I got some ideas. And we could always keep this thread alive instead of spamming the forums with new ones.

Did you read the post regarding the final?

Yes I read it, but it didn't say anything about healing magic being used to restore them, only rest. I chose to assume they'd be barred from outside restorative spells in the interest of fairness, and because given the tournament to that point, I think it's more interesting. If they're both completely fresh, honestly, Shale would crush Sten like a bug, just like any other conventional warrior. It takes cumulative damage or something like the mages to bring down a golem, unless you're talking about something bigger and meaner like a dragon. Speaking for lore, or realistically. My vote went to Sten because I see him as taking less of a beating to that point, Shale being softened to a point that Sten's swordsmanship would even be a factor. At that point, Sten's more skilled, and Shale can't effectively counter him, so Sten wins.

edit: To clarify, the injuries I mentioned are the only ones I see them taking in the tournament. Those are also where they should've lost if I were judging. I think the other matches are not-a-scratch type victories, mostly.

It was a matter of match ups.  Sten would have probably lost to Morrigan, I would have given it to Loghain over Shale for example.  Probably could have replaced the ogre with another bruiser like Caridan, Meredith or the Architect.  Now we can do it again with the second stringers!!!

I guess there's no harm in telling everyone:

I had Morrigan win against Alistair in the final (there was a time when I had Fenris win against Alistair in Round 2 but I changed my mind on that). The two semi-finalists that lost were Leliana and Zathrian.

For me, Morrigan would be kind of the run away favorite overall, but the best potential matches of the tournament would be Leliana v. Sigrun and Alistair v. Justice, and Tallis v. most of the warriors or Tallis v. Leliana. Any of the archers v. Morrigan is interesting too, with the idea that they would keep her moving if they had the initiative, so it becomes almost like a hunt and counter match. She's the hardest target at range.

If Morrigan wasn't tired in the semi-finals she would've killed Shale and Sten.

Yay, go Shale! I'm very happy she won. She deserves it. :)
