Fight A

Leliana vs Sigrun: Sigrun is for battles and skirmishes, but when it comes to one-on-one, Leliana once again has the upper hand. If Sigrun got close enough she'd stand a pretty decent chance, but Leliana is sly, intelligent and adaptive.

Sten vs Loghain: I can really see this fight going both ways, toughest fight of the four I think. Sten would definitely have Loghain backing into a corner, it's just a matter of whether gets cocky or underestimates Loghain. That likelihood isn't high enough for me to give it to Loghain.

Morrigan vs Merril: Even without Flemeth's grimoires, I think Morrigan would win here. Against a warrior like Sten or Alistair I might think differently, but when it comes to magic Morrigan's shown to have a firmer grasp on it than most and has way more experience than Merril in using it offensively. In the Gallow's courtyard, Merril also loses the major advantage of her Keeper abilities.

Shale vs Zathrian: Shale has no blood and oh yeah, she's a Golem. And as with Merril, Zathrian is out of his comfort zone. He's in a stone city, not a thinly-veiled underground Dalish mausoleum. Puts up a good offensive defense, but Shale eventually pushes through and breaks every bone in his body.

Leliana -  I pick her because her skills are that good. Sigrun has mad skills too but Leliana is more sneaky.

Loghain - Again I go with years of experience and knowing the layout of the battlefield.

Morrigan - Merrill is naive ... Morrigan grew up with Flemeth, which gives her a completely different perspective on self-preservation.

Shale - While Zathrian is a great mage, Shale would crush him before he got to land any major spells on her.

First of all....Sten beating Aveline?  Have you people gone mad????  Now on to the voting.

Leliana - she will call on the wrathful hand of the maker to smite her foes.

Loghain - Sten got so beat up in beating aveline last round that loghain whomps him.

Fight C

Merrill (DA2) - of all her talk Morrigan was really not much without the warden, Merril consorts with demons, its now raining demons, merril wins.

Fight D

Shale - If this even a question?  Shale already squashed bossy squishy mage, whats another?

Stens life is dedicated to one role which is being a killer, Aveline is pretty much just a cop, her mind is filled with different things irrelevant to fighting, Stens only goal is to better himself so that he can serve the qun and his service only demands military prowess which is all he knows

Fight A

Leliana vs Sigrun - I'd go with Leliana. She could hit Sigrun through the eye socket before Sigrun could close.

Fight B

Sten vs Loghain - Tricky. I think I'd go with Sten. (I think??) He's a bit younger, won't be slowing down as much as Loghain. Probably has more strength to bear as well - he could wear Loghain down.

Fight C

Merrill (DA2) vs Morrigan (DA:O) - Morrigan. She always struck me as the more offensive fighter, and has a better honed survival instinct. She'll do anything to win. Plus she has more experience.

Fight D

Shale vs Zathrian - Shale. Even with blood magic, I doubt Zathrien could bring her down quickly enough before she closed in and crushed him.

Round 3 - Winners

Fight A

Leliana - Leliana is both a Seeker and a Bard, trained as she was under Marjolaine, of whom she now carries the bow. During her time with the Hero of Ferelden, she was hardened. Previously in the tournament, Leliana defeated both Varric and Isabela.

vs

Sigrun - After the events in Amaranthine, Sigrun remained a Grey Warden, still reaping the benefits of her training as a member of the Legion of the Dead. Previously in the tournament, Sigrun defeated both Tallis and Nathaniel Howe.

Fight B

Sten - After the Blight and the death of the previous one in Kirkwall, Sten became the new Arishok. He still carries Asalaa, the sword the Warden gave him. Previously in the tournament, Sten defeated both Fenris and Aveline.

vs

Loghain - After the Blight, Loghain remained a Warden, and is still positively affected by his training as a Fereldan general. Previously in the tournament, Loghain defeated both Justice and Oghren.

Fight C

Merrill (DA2) - Besides having been trained as a Keeper's First, Merrill is also a Blood Mage, and she has been reaping the benefits of the knowledge she got after fixing the broken Eluvian in her home. Previously in the tournament, Merrill defeated both Velanna and Wynne.

vs

Morrigan (DA:O) - Morrigan never went through with the Dark Ritual she offered to the Warden. She holds in her possession her mother's grimoires, which the Warden gave her. She is still a Shapeshifter, as she was during the Blight. Previously in the tournament, Morrigan defeated both Grey Warden Bethany and Awakening's Anders.

Fight D

Shale - Having travelled with the Hero of Ferelden, Shale knows her true identity, and she has also been equipped with Brilliant Crystals. Previously in the tournament, Shale defeated both an Ogre and Cailan, the King of Ferelden.

vs

Zathrian - A Keeper as well as a Blood Mage, Zathrian has been around for over 300 years, thus having a lot of experience when it comes to battle. Previously in the tournament, Zathrian defeated both Keeper Marethari and Jarvia.

ROUND 4 : The Semi-Finals - Voting is open now!

The fighting for this round has moved to the Gallows Prison (the place where Hawke and co. fought against First Enchanter Orsino) as it was before the events of Dragon Age 2, but with the entrances to the courtyard closed off. Combatants will fight to ensure a spot in Round 4. Each combatant will start at the far end opposite of the other, and the fight will last until one of both is dead. When you cast your vote, try to go off the lore and what is posted below, not the games' combat mechanics.

VERY IMPORTANT

In this fight, the combatants have not been allowed to rest and are still beat up from their previous three fights.

When you cast your vote, write down why you think the person you voted for would win. Only vote on the fights listed below, and not the fights for Rounds 1, 2 and 3. If you fail to give any reasoning or your reasoning sounds like personal preference or mere joking, your votes won't be taken into account when choosing the winners.

Fight 1

vs

I vote Sten and Shale because they're tough warriors of great strength.

Considering the fact that they have not rested between fights, it essentially would come down to stamina and how easily they defeated their previous opponents

1 - Sten - Both would have had difficult fights up to this point, but I can see Sten as having faired better, would essentially come down to if Leliana could deal enough damage before Sten got to her but with both of them wounded and tired I don't think she could

2 - More difficult, considering Morrigan could shapeshift into something  more solid to take the hits from Shale. Shale's endurance would win out I think in the end

I vote Sten and Shale because they're tough warriors of great strength.

But why would they beat Leliana and Morrigan, respectively?

Because they also are tough fighters of great strength or skill.

Sten because he has more endurance than Leliana and he is likely wearing massive armor, which will protect him from Leliana's arrows.

Shale because, since she is a golem, she doesn't need to rest.  Morrigan, being human, needs rest and hasn't gotten it.  Shale wins.

Well, I'll just agree with this post:

Sten because he has more endurance than Leliana and he is likely wearing massive armor, which will protect him from Leliana's arrows.

Shale because, since she is a golem, she doesn't need to rest.  Morrigan, being human, needs rest and hasn't gotten it.  Shale wins.

Plus, if Sten is Arishok, he'd have a lot of backup and access to good equipment.

Sten, because I'd think Leliana will be more tired by this point. He can move around in his armor better, and I imagine he'd have better stamina. Plus, bigger is always better. He'd be able to overwhelm her rather quickly.

Shale, because golems don't get tired. And after the other fights, she can just keep going. Morrigan will be exhausted. I know it'll be more physical this go around between these two. But I think Shale will come out ahead.

vs

Sten - After the Blight and the death of the previous one in Kirkwall, Sten became the new Arishok. He still carries Asalaa, the sword the Warden gave him. Previously in the tournament, Sten defeated, Fenris, Aveline, and Loghain.

Leliana is going to have far more stamina in this case compared to Sten, given Loghain gave him a tough as nails fight, but Sigrun, being slow and unable to even reach Leliana, gives Leliana freedom to breathe. She shoots Sten from afar. He doesn't go down before getting close enough to her, but Leliana also has the acrobatic skills to find a way out of a close quarters scenario and put more arrows into him until he's done in. Besides, she has ALL the distance in the world now AND Sten is slow and tired.

Fight 2

Morrigan (DA:O) - Morrigan never went through with the Dark Ritual she offered to the Warden. She holds in her possession her mother's grimoires, which the Warden gave her. She is still a Shapeshifter, as she was during the Blight. Previously in the tournament, Morrigan defeated Grey Warden Bethany, Awakening's Anders, and Merrill (DA2).

Morrigan opens up her bag of tricks and takes Shale down. Neither should be exhausted really;one's a stone golem, the other a mage. Morrigan gets the upper hand on Shale swiftly, given the distance and her grimoires having a little bit of everything in there. I imagine it would be quite the spectacular showing of magic leading to pebbles.

^up above

1. Leliana - has a bow. quicker and more maneuverable. Rogueish people can generally pace themselves better then people in full plate armor, so sten will tire first, if he already isn't from the last 2 fights.

2. Morrigan - Tough one.... shale could squish her easy but I think she could stay away from it/her using animal forms.

Fight 1

Sten - This one is tough. I think it'd be a long fight - Leliana would try to wear Sten down but stay out of his reach (much like a particular showdown on Game of Thrones, wink wink). But Sten is a tough mofo. If he gets one hit in, Leliana would go down, whereas a few arrows would probably be nothing more than pin-pricks to a qunari. So this fight goes to Sten.

Fight 2

Shale - Hey, if she can beat Zathrian, she can take Morrigan, no problem. Morrigans shapeshifting abilities would be useless against Shale. Bear? SQUISH. Spider? SQUISH. Mages aren't quick, so she can't even dodge Shale and wear her down. Shale wins. SQUISH.

This is insanely tough but....

Leliana- mainly because she is trained in much more subtle and manipulative fighting than the straightforward Sten. Whereas he is brute strength she is everywhere and also she is stealthy. She can cloak herself as well and could sneak up on Sten and wear him out with backstabs and such. Bleed him out if you will.

Even tougher still, because with Shales natural Dwarven and Golem immunities to magic Morrigan really just has her Shapeshifting, healing(what little she has), and her intelligence. I say Morrigan a lot for the previous Leliana vs Sten. In my opinion their natural manipulative styles of if fighting would put them more on top than the brutes and tanks that Sten and Shale are.

Hmm.. down to Origins' companions, I see.

Fight A
Leliana vs Sten: While a part of me almost wants to see a Leliana vs Morrigan finale, it shouldn't come down to who has the most fans and I think Sten would win this fight. A large part of that is from the fatigue of the previous rounds. While I mentioned before a strength of Leliana's was her ability to come back from being down-and-out, I'm not sure she could rally enough to take out a powerhouse like Sten. Sten is a rock, and no agility or physical prowess will take him down I feel. She might land a few critical hits, but in the end it isn't enough.

Fight B
Morrigan vs Shale: I put Shale as defeating Zathrian in the previous round and I'll stick by that, but Zathrian is capable of some truly offensive magic and magic is ne of the only effective tools against a golem. I think it would have taken a lot out of him. Put Morrigan, another offensive mage in front of her directly afterwards? Who can heal herself after the previous battle? And for all we know, can shapeshift into something equally hard-hitting? I go Morrigan.

Well I'm not sure how big the area is (in meters or feet) in which you fight Orsino at the end of Dragon Age II but they both start at opposite ends of that square space. Maybe that's... 20 meters? Seems about right.

Fight 1

Leliana vs Sten: Yep, Leliana wins. It's possible Sten has more stamina, but do we forget Leliana spent an entire week being tortured? Not just standing in a cage, being starved to death, but actually tortured. And even then she managed to escape (although admittedly she had some help). Also, her fighting style is much less exhausting than Sten's, in spite of the latter's strength. Versatility and adaptability also beat raw power. Go rogues!

Fight 2

Morrigan (DA:O) vs Shale: Shale wins. She's a golem, and though she does experience exhaustion, it is much less and much less impairing than it would be for a flesh and blood person. Morrigan is not really fast, and her shapeshifting would be useless against someone so strong and sturdy.
