As DAO is one of my favorite RPG games (DA2 NOT!!!), the fact that bioware has brought back tactic view really enlightened me and made my decision to preorder this time. Problem is, which version? I recently got my ps4 and loved it. But using keyboard and mouse for an RPG is always my first choice, hence the dilemma. My pc is not super juiced, so I wonder if it can match the graphics of the ps4 version. (My pc specs: intel i7 3770k, Nvidia gtx670 2G, 8G RAM)
Also, is it possible to play DAI on ps4 with keyboard & mouse? Which version should I preorder so I can experience the best graphics and gameplay? Any help is appreciated

PS4 supports keyboard and mouse, so in my opinion, your best option is to get the game on PS4 if you are not fussed about modding.

It will definitely run better on PS4 than on your current PC spec.

Thanks dubya. Can I transfer my save file of DA2 to ps4? Or DAI don't need save file of the previous title? I remember da2 kinda need my daa save file since it decides the story

You're welcome.

No, you won't be able to do that, but the developers of DAI is going to give us an online service called Dragon Age Keep which you will use to build your savegame from previous games by selecting the choices you made in those games. Check this out:

Where are your previous saves? If they are on PS3, then it´s not relevant, because you will need the save editor to process your DAI initial file.

However, if your DA1 and DA2 are both on PC, I´d say try the pc version, because the processing of the files should be automatic and taking into account every detail.

As for the rest, it´s purely a matter of taste. I don´t like to handle the controls of dragon age on consoles, so I would always go with pc.

While system aspects were not revealed yet, I would say that your hardware seems more than sufficient to handle the game. Remember, this is not a next-gen game, but a previous gen game (it will be available for 360 and ps3) that will also be available slightly enhanced for the next-gen and current pcs as well.

I doubt that the game will be a pain on the system memory because it was projected to run on systems with half a gig of ram as well. If it was solely designed for the new systems, I would be more concerned about the demands on pc hardware.

If you compare purely on a spec basis, then your configuration would be better than a PS4 (GTX670>PS4's 7870-based). The PC version's UI will update in relation to the used input method (thus tailored to Mouse+Keyboard when using them), but I don't know if this is true for the PS4 version.

I don't think this is confirmed.

Problem is would my rig perform better than ps4? I'm aware that bioware hasn't released the specs yet. But would my gtx670 do the job? I mean I don't expect it to run in ultra detail but would it at least look good as ps4 version?

Probably yes, your CPU seems fast enough, and at least in Battlefield 4 (same engine), the GTX670 is a bit faster than PS4's 7870-based chip, and slightly faster in performance than the 7950 (in Ultra DX 11 settings).

My guess is your rig will at least have comparable performance vs comparable graphics settings (depending on PC optimization ofcourse, if it's another Watch_Dogs we're all in for bad luck, however Dragon Age 2 performed quite well back in the day).

Second: the PC version is cheaper, and whenever you decide to upgrade your rig, you can play DA:I with even better quality settings/mods.

We haven't been given any indication that there will be a save import feature at all. I would expect everyone to have to use the Keep for that.

Even makes portability easier.

Personally I would say PC.

I also, despite having played both the previous games on the PC, will be playing Keep as well.

PC, since you actually have a good one.

You can upgrade your graphic card if you want to play with everything maxed out, but even your current GTX 670 should easily surpass the PS4's visuals. I bet you'll be able to play with generally high settings / 1080p / 60 fps with your current PC.

I did not know that the PS4 supported mouse and keyboard. That's pretty cool, but does that really indicate that you can play games that way? I wouldn't think developers are designing PS4 versions of their games to have an interface and control scheme geared towards a mouse and keyboard set up?

The only reason why the Dragon Age Keep was created is because of the change of hardware on the consoles.

I imagine that on PC (or on the previous gen games) you can simply process/upload your previous save files and the keep system will provide an initial file for Inquisition based on all the choices you made.

if you do not have save files from the 2 previous games, then you have the chance to customize a new one on the keep.

My hope is that for people who played da 1 and 2 on previous gen systems and migrated to PS4 or X1 (a lot of 360 owners migrated to PS4) the keep will be able to convert the save files from one system to another. So you could, in theory, combine a dragon age 1 file from PC and a Dragon Age 2 file from 360 and then play DAI on PS4 based on the save files, with every decision you took being taken into account.

To manually construct a save will probably offer a handicapted experience. I mean, the major decisions would all be there, but somehow I doubt that the save will allow you to customize the hundreds of possible variables. It will certainly be better than the mass effect genesis attempts, but never as rich as the real deal of playing both games.

There´s no need for the keep on the pc version, since both of the previous games are fully playable on the current operating systems (win 7 and 8). The keep on pc would be more like a bonus for people who never played the previous games or want to try a diverse experience without having to replay both making different choices so you can toy with the decisions. But there are zero compatibility issues on PC. The same thing goes for 360 and ps3. The problem involves PS4 and X1.

My wish for the Keep is that it will come in two modes. Compact mode, in which you only make the most basic and relevant decisions, and comprehensive mode, in which you can toy with smaller details, like side-quests´s outcomes.

Bioware could also make the keep capable of processing saves and allowing you to revise your decisions. So if you changed your mind, that would be your chance to rectify a certain choice.

"PlayStation 4 Owners Can Now Pre-Load Games" - DAI included as well. If you want to play on the PS4.

I'm thinking of getting for PC for the mods.

I think I'd go for PC. You'll have access to modding, which to me is reason enough to for the PC version. And since DA:I is running off the Frostbite engine, I think your specs can handle it. Obviously the games will be different, but I have slightly lower specs than yours, and I can run Battlefield 4, a Frostbite game, on good settings with a great framerate. Unless you're really, really nitpicky about graphical fidelity, I think you'll be fine. Plus, if you get the cash, it's not that hard to upgrade your PC. $250-$300 will get you a good GTX card that can run the game even better. Obviously the PS4 lacks the upgradability of PC too.

the reason for the keep is that savegame importing contains too many errors.

It would be a waste not to get the PC version with those specs. You get a better looking version for the game, choice between Keyboard + Mouse and controller(X360 or XONE) and possible mod support.

I wouldn't count on the mod support.  Once they've sold their game, where is the monetary incentive to invest as much $$$ as is needed to develop, QA and ship mod tools?  I can almost guarantee the override method won't work any more either because it is a completely new engine, Frostbite 3, which as of to this day has no real mods.

The absolute best we can honestly hope for is console commands, but it's looking like we shouldn't hold our breath on that one either.

Well I'm not counting on mod support, that's why I said "possible". Many people including me have requested it and the devs are aware of DA's modding community. It's up to them to add support after release, whatever level it may be at. Still, there is that chance where modders will still be able to access the files and be able to mod, at the very least I'm expecting a FX mod to make DA:I look even more amazing on PC(like Watchdogs). Either way, PC is the best version for the OP to own, more possibilities and more freedom.
