I might like this if you had a way to remember and embrace this background and do an actual evil play through
But yeah, I was even thinking Revan and it's been awhile since I played KotOR games...

The big bad is Mehrunes Dagon who has opened a portal from oblivion to come claim what he believes is his rightful plane of rulership.
I liked the Revan twist. I actually wouldn't mind if they pulled something like it again.
It's pretty unlikely though, and I don't think the quizzy has amnesia.
I don't think the inquisitor is amnesiac. He doesn't remember the events preceding the Fade Tear, he doesn't know how he survived the explosion. But it doesn't make him amnesiac to me.
Have they confirmed that the inquisitor doesn't know how they survived? All I can think of offhand is the inquisitor telling Cassandra that he doesn't know how he survived, which could be a lie or partial truth.
Fair enough, nevertheless it doesn't change the fact that the inqui isn't necessarily amnesiac
Not happening. Why? Sandal's prophecy. "When he rises, all will see." You can play a female character, ergo you might not be a "he" - henceforth, disqualified from the running.
Also, the Revan analogy isn't quite the same since Revan was the Bigger Bad, and Malak was the actual Big Bad main antagonist. When you're specifically trying to hunt down and kill your amnesiac self as the unadulterated Big Bad, that's just... no.

Unless you get possessed by something and are dead all along.
Dwarf inquisitor can't be "big" bad, and "half-pint bad" just isnt catchy.
OK. Maybe thats too far fetched but she/he couldve been "expendable" henchman working for him.
Just think about it:
-Thousands of people die but Inquisitor is somehow alive
-She/He has amnesia not knowing what happened at all
-Not only can she/he close veil tears with that hand, but she/he can also make new ones with it (From GameStar preview)
-From how it looks the breach event looks like its gonna be intro cinematic rather than playable linear level
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if near end of game we get memories back and then have the option to "lead the world to its bitter end".
This is a great theory! If the Inquisitor is not just a common person and his investigation leads him to uncover the truth about himself, his mysterious power to open and close tears in the Veil and his actions to open the Breach, then this would make the game much more interesting.
i've thought about the topic a few times
If our inquisitor ends up as an ammnesiac fade spirit that possesed some random's grunt's body, I'll choose a sacrifice ending everytime.
Then what? We're hunting ourselves? No, I think it's more likely the Inquisitor was possessed by a spirit in the fade than being the big bad with amnesia. This isn't Kotor!
Fire Emblem did it.
Just some person being punished by the maker for doing unspeakable things with their hand.
I was expecting this , and bioware could pull "Revan" on us. Some ppl would be shocked for sure ![]()
Would love it , if final battle is against your hard worked , level up , skilled up , babysited inquisitor
And he/she just cuts through companions like a paper...and we get BAD ending...ya...Time to return to reality.
I actually think that'd be pretty cool if done well tbh.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. They already did this with Revan, as many others have pointed out. I guess it depends on how they want to handle it. If they implement it like metalfenix states, then I will not like that at all.

And I'm with you on sacrificing myself, if that's an option at the end.
I'm not sold on this spirit thing. Why would being possessed by a spirit make them able to close tears in the fade? In DA2 with Anders it seemed, if anything, it opened the connection to the fade. The inquisitor seems to be more a walking variation on a rite of tranquility. Now that involves lyrium doesn't it? Maybe after blue lyrium and red lyrium the inquisitor is just someone who got a gobful of green lyrium. And then at the end we can bring the three primary colours of lyrium together and create white lyrium!
Nah Inquisitor is merely some doooooooood that got possessed by the OGB.
...*kicks*
Anyway I doubt it.
It doesn't sound very plausible to me. I would expect there to be forces that are actively manipulating the world and moving against the Inquisition. The Inquisitor can't be doing that if they are also leading the Inquisition.
Lol, no.
We don't need Revan v2.0, but even worse! Because now we aren't just the big bad's old companion, but the Big Bad himself!
Original ideas are good..... Or at least less unoriginal.
